Merchants Wrecker Services JunkYard in Alvin (TX)

Needed a tow to our dealership for repairs since our vehicle was inoperable, so I contacted my insurance provider and they reached out to Merchants Wrecker. The service I received was definitely 5 stars. Arrived on time as promised, was very friendly, and knowledgeable on what he observed could be wrong with my vehicle. I would definitely recommend and use them again!

*CALL BEFORE YOU ARRIVE* they need notice before you show up so somebody can assist you. it’s a family business.* my bike got towed here. told the driver to take care of my baby and he did. the next morning i arrived and met with Arnold. very nice and respectful. quick, simple and to the point too. Thanks!!

This has to be the WORST experience I've ever had from any company. The male who answered the phone was extremely rude, disrespectful and very sarcastic. He wouldn't provide me his name nor let me speak to anyone else. I expressed my concerns about where they would be delivering my vehicle and was told " what does that have to do with me! NEXT QUESTION! " and he made this same statement three different times to me when i asked more questions. Then they called my insurance and canceled my tow. PLEASE DONT USE THIS COMPANY. We as consumers while in a devastating sate of mind because of our vehicles, don't deserve this type of customers service while paying our hard working money. DONT USE THIS COMPANY . DONT USE THIS COMPANY. DONT USE THIS COMPANY

If I could give this place no stars, I would. I called to confirm towing destination and change the tow service to the next morning due to body shops being closed. The man who answered the phone was the most disrespectful and unprofessional person I have ever spoken to. He lacked communication skills and patience. He continuously interrupted me as I was trying to explain my situation. He stated that I was “refusing to give my address” and that I was being very rude. I was just trying to explain what was going on so he and I could work together to figure it out. Please use this service at your own risk.

Unfortunately I got my car towed to this place and i called thinking they had a 24 hour service line which should be specified on a sign that it is only for towing vehicles not pick up etc I was locked out of my house with my 6 year old in 50 degree weather mind you I called about 10 or more times i will admit but just need to pick my house keys up from my car and no one would answer and I was under a lot of stress I have never had a car towed before so I know I must be in the wrong for the calls when it comes down to it but then I called twice when I woke up the next morning at 9am after having to find other means of shelter and they I’m assuming the owner(Cody as I was told by his father) accused me of being on drugs or intoxicated and yelled at me over the phone for contacting them beyond measure i also apologized for my part in that but he still did not us a professional manner/tone and went along with more insults and slander again I have never had a vehicle toad before and just didn’t know instead of being understanding in a profession that I’m sure this happens a lot in the owner(Cody) was disgusting and incompetent getting your vehicle towed is already a stressful situation! Being treated the way I did over the phone was not professional!! Do not and will not recommend to family and friends this “family” business is not worth it!!

Well, let me just tell you, after a 2 hour wait, I placed a call to the business to see how much longer( because my insurance company had an estimate of how long it should take). Well let's just say, Cody, the owner, is the rudest person I have talked to on the phone. Rest asure I will tell my insurance to not use them anymore. But his worker was the sweetest man to me. So kuddos to him. But bad business practice on the owner. Remember you reap what you sow. I will not be using this business any more.

100% would refer this company to anyone! They went out of their way to go to 3 places to pick up my keys, then go to my car, then drop my car at the automotive shop. Very reasonable tow fees. And a special shout out to Arnold, who went as far to go out of his way, to look over my car and give me his opinion on what was going on underneath my hood. Good bless y'all. And thank you from the bottom of my heart for actually looking out for me!

Called them because AAA tow pickups were all being declined. Came right out immediately and towed my truck to the service center.

I locked my keys in my truck and called for help and they came out about 25 mins later and popped open my door no problem! No annoying paperwork either and even took the payment with my debit card right there also. I believe his name was Arnie or Arnold. Such a nice man too! Will use again if needed.

Fast a great service, Joe was excellent picking up my vehicle. I see that some have mentioned Cody is unprofessional. I didn't think he was rude just direct and knew exactly what he was doing with the info he had and where to take my car. I would use them again.

Called to inquire about a vehicle only to be treated disrespectfully. Guy who answered the phone was extremely rude and unprofessional, lacks communication skills and patience. Did not want to give information over the phone when asked about vehicle. Can not express how rude management is. Merchants Wrecker Service, you should consider better training for your employees.

Worst tow company ever….asked them to call me twenty minutes before arrival bc I am pregnant with twins and have a two year old and I could not wait the estimated two hours for them. Then informed them the car is in an empty lot so the address is not correct bc lots don’t have physical numbers. He hung up on me. Then I cancel the service but they show up anyway and didn’t call ahead. Complain about the fact that my truck broke down facing the wrong way then try to drop it off in front of my house on the street instead of the open driveway….🤬🤯 And to your response…I never said it was too hot, you clearly do not have children bc leaving a toddler in a car seat for two hours waiting for someone when they could kindly give you a courtesy call doesn’t seem like an extreme accommodation. But when you aren’t a customer service based business it makes sense. I spoke with four tow companies that day…one said they would call ahead but didn’t. Ones tow truck broke down in route after waiting four hours. Your aweful place which I canceled bc whomever answered the phone was incredibly rude. then one other one who said they would call ahead but I had to cancel because y’all showed Up unexpectedly.

My car broke down and my insurance company dispatched them. Cody called and was very unprofessional and hung up in my face. I would not tell anyone to use this disrespectful unprofessional company. I just read the other reviews and see why he gets 1star. Yes I should have known exactly where I left the car but like I said before you rudely hung up was it was my mistake as I read to you the address that I wrote down and where the car is pinging from. H there was no need to be rude on a Sunday morning. I’ve had cars towed before and the key was not needed to tow it.

TLDR: Called to check in to get an updated arrival window for my tow only to be yelled at by the individual who picked up the phone. They had previously given me one of up to 2 hours, then later updated to say they were then 20 minutes out, it was 15 minutes past that time - I simply called asking "hey, any chance there's an updated window for arrival?" To be told "we try to help everyone as quickly as possible". Totally understandable, that's what I would hope for, just wanted to check and see if there was a window or a number of services ahead of me so I can make plans."Ma'am, as I said we try to help people as quickly as possible" Sure, I was just checking. "YOURE WASTING MY TIME, I DONT HAVE TO PUT UP WITH THIS. I'M CANCELLING." I understand having a full plate and being frustrated (I mean I'm waiting for a wrecker for 2 hours on a Tuesday morning because a battery i had replaced during a service last week gave out), but there's no reason to get aggressive over simple customer service questions in a 2 minute phone call.

**UPDATE** After reading your response to my review, I feel that I must clear up that I did not know that I needed to have an appointment to make arrangements for MY vehicle to be transferred to a repair center. All I ask is for simple communication if you had an emergency. I called and you yelled. Simple as that. Very unprofessional. AGAIN. DO NOT USE!!! Cody was the rudest most unprofessional person I have ever dealt with. Lied about how long we would be waiting. Gave excuse of an emergency call which is understandable but not when it is being yelled at me over and over and over where I could not even speak. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. READ THROUGH THE REVIEWS THAT HE HAS EARNED HIMSELF!!!

We broke down Wednesday night on Hwy 6. Merchant's had a wrecker to us in less than 25 minutes. The driver called when he was on the way to let me know where he was and to check on us. He was so nice and courteous. I apologized for not having any cash to tip and the driver said to me, "I'm just glad you're home safe."

My experience might be a bit unique from some of the others listed here but I had a great experience. The Brakes failed on my Harley. I managed to get it home but I didn't want to ride it all the way to Pasadena with no brakes. I have a HOG membership which i was considering cancelling but it comes with roadside. My insurance also has roadside but i figured I'd try this. It was a super simple process. I could pick my day and time. Merchant's even sent me a text before they headed this way and updated me along the whole process. The Service Provider was awesome. showed up early. Friendly. Very helpful. Helped me guide the bike into place on the rollback. She dropped my bike off at the H-D service shop within the hour. Now this is about 20 miles from the house up Hwy 45. I did have to pay an additional $93 through HOG because they only cover up to $100 so I don't really know what it would have cost if i paid them directly. But my bike showed up there and I felt it was in really good hands. Being early in the 30 minute window they gave me was pretty nice too. No complaints. This company was added to my contacts. would use again in the future.

Update ***** the worker that finally came to let me into my car to get one of my items, blocked me in and told me he was going to file a report against me if I left bad reviews after being treated so poorly by a Business. He also took pictures of me, saying he had my license. Do not use this company. You’ll be waiting hours to pick up your items & they’ll stop answering the phone. CODY with merchants towing stopped answering the phone, I had my mother call to see if he would answer her, she did and he did answer and then called me and said “your mommy called for you well send someone as soon as we can” it’s been over two hours.

Great service, fast, friendly and took care of our truck being towed to dealership after our fuel lines were cut.

I've never had any issues with them. They've taken care of my car both times I've called them. He even tried to help me diagnose what was wrong with my brakes. Very nice to me and my daughter. I'm assuming it's the owner was the one that came. Would definitely use them again in the future, hopefully it won't come to that though.

Rude, nasty old man with an ugly attitude. I asked nicely for him to pull my car in the bed and he completely ignored me. Told me driving my car up on the ramp wouldn’t hurt it. He had no idea what was wrong with my car but knew it ALL! please don’t use him!!!

Used this service referred to by my warranty. WORST SERVICE EVER. If I could give 0 starts I would. Car was towed to the wrong location and tow was ordered online, so there is no way to confuse the address. Spoke with the Tow truck driver and he happens to be the owner also. He said he did not even read the drop off address. He started to raise his voice in frustration as I asked him to lower it he hung the phone up. Eventually he dropped the car off at the correct dealership unannounced and parked it illegally. Then once I got in touch with him he commented on my financial status and started to degrade me because I’m in my early twenties and I live in an apartment. He was also rude to the dealership when dropping off my car. Literally worst service ever received. Highly DO NOT RECOMMEND.
