Both are required. They will sell you a vest for $10 if you don’t bring one. Extra charge for untarped loads I think is $10 for pickups.

Per the City Ordinance - “Residents of the City who present a paid City water bill, which includes a garbage
collection charge, dated within sixty (60) days of the date of presentment, shall be entitled to dump without charge one (1) time each calendar month”. HOWEVER, THIS DOES NOT INCLUDE TRAILERS.
So, unless you’re loading up the back of your car or the bed of your truck, be prepared to pay for dumping.
First time user of facility. Had carpet and padding for living room home remodel that I'm doing myself. According to their scale the weight was 200 lbs. When I got there I had to buy a vest for ten dollars, my bad in not knowing. I also was not allowed to use dumpsters nearby to drop my small load, I had to drive the long nasty road to dump my carpet when the trash trucks were dumping.
I was charged $43.04 upon exiting ($10 for vest) and when I asked why so much the cashier said there's a one ton minimum charge which the sign says. I was shocked to pay $33 to legally get rid of a small amount of carpet. I went to large entrance sign which under the facility name says $10 minimum charge ( no I didn't get a picture). I went back to scale house and advised the male cashier and another female who also get involved in conversation. They said that was an old sign and not the updated fee. Any business would honor the posted price but not this place.
I can see why people dump stuff on side of roads illegally.
Forty dollars to dump a mattress and a box, spring is outrageous. Couldn't even use my water bill for a free dump. The city of temple needs to take this back over this is getting out of hand.
To start I could have crammed all of the trash into my can and left it on the curb like 90% of the local homes. However I went to the land fill. I had to buy the vest, admin fees, registration and about 50 pounds of trash. Total fee $55.79. 21 cents of trash and the rest fees. Drove to the ramp to drop trash in roll off and watch several vehicles with their occupants get out with no vest. You never leave a paved road, you never enter the landfill just a roll off by the gate. Trash is truly someone else treasure. What a rip off
I have never been here but after reading reviews I will not. Noticed owners only reply to positive reviews which is a red flag since they obviously know of problems with rude staff and website with none of the necessary info on it. Prices should be posted and remain the same not change with different employees. And all required documents and extra fees and hours that will be accepting trash should be clearly stated on website so that special employees don't make an extra quick buck. Word of mouth is just as bad as the reviews are

I have always appreciated those who take away our refuse. WM drivers are always smiling and happy to wave back to you.
Today, 11/13/24, I watched as the WM driver accidentally knocked over a can while placing it back. He parked his truck and got out to pick the can back up. Thank you!
I've been here before and never had issue, once in a blue moon I need to go there and it's usually simple. I go in the office, get a printout, take it over and they wave me through to dump my trash.
For whatever reason, they had an issue with the printout and insisted I have the actual bill. I've never had it before. I went back to the city office and they told me that should be fine. They seemed to know who I was talking about. So I went back and again I got attitude, and this guy Derrick is literally quivering with rage as he's talking to me. The supervisor there, Pam, was also incredibly rude and said I had to leave and that if I dumped what I had, they'd bill me.
I left and talked to the city employees again, who let me leave my name and number to get in touch with the director. They were also kind enough to let me dump what I needed in their trash bin.
This was by far the rudest and most unnecessaey interaction I have ever had in my entire life. Derrick and Pam need to be fired, ASAP. What should have been a simple matter of taking my stuff to the dump and showing the paper printout turned into a major hassle.
All new people are super slow. Pam that works the window at the landfill is one of the rudest people I ever meet. Please bring back the last 2 girls and pay them good.

I come to this place every day to dump rules always are different depending on who’s up front.
I was told “ima teach you a really lesson when you don’t bring a permit” and was hit with a total of 550

Before you head out, you will need to bring a safety vest and your temple water bill if you live in the city. If you come without a bill or are from out of temple, expect to pay a minimum of $54( I came with a half loaded van with some wood, drywall and cardboard). You won't be able to see updated info on their new rates until you are actually pulled up onto the scale. Their signs outside of the location don't have all updated info.
Really no other option in the area. The office personnel are not very friendly and act like everyone should know what they are doing without even attempting to explain where to go etc.
Worst experience ever! Got there at 3:20 from Salado to dump trash and was told they didn't accept trash from my area that I would have to go to Hutto. I made the 40-minute trip there only to be turned away because they were closing. Don't know what difference is between both, but it is very disrespectful of my time, and on top of that, I have to pay to dump. It is completely outrageous and arrogant to make people bounce around like that! TRASH IS TRASH, didn't matter what landfill it goes to. You all do the same thing. Pull your heads out and have some common courtesy. I'm an employee just like you, but I don't lord my position over people like your employees do! Where did the customer go? If it weren't for people dumpling trash, you wouldn't exist!
I hate coming to this location the ladies at the scale are always mad and they are rude like what did i do to you to give me attitude. They act like they own the place
They may couldn't tell me how much my dump would be, asked the size of trailer, what I had. Long line and was told i had a little over $80 to dump. I Waited then left. Took to long.
These people charge 60.00 to drop brush off to the landfill. Plus they charge you 10.00 for a vest per person to wear in order to unload the brush. They measure your trailer to charge you more. WM is crazy awful.
I see the reviews talking about all the additional charges if you don't have your ducks in row. I carefully read the website and was prepared. If your load is not covered, Bam, $20 BUCKS right there, and no vest, BAM, another $10 BUCKS right there. $30 SMACKERS right off the bat if you're illiterate and or failed to read the requirements. Do your research beforehand. I had a decent experience with my first time going which was today. The only issue I had was the customer service. I read the site, and I had all my documents in paper form, but as soon as I was attempted to hand them over, I was abrasively informed that the local resident rules did not apply for brush drop off. Ok, fine, but she then kept looking at my trailer trying to figure out how much to charge me, and then she asked me for the specs of my trailer, which seems irrelevant. When I returned home, I jumped back onto the site, and I didn't see anything online stating certain size trailers get charged certain prices. In the end, I paid and dumped my brush.
First time? you will need a PAPER COPY OF THE WATER BILL, REFLECTIVE VEST, COVER YOUR LOAD WITH A TARP. All those things will cause you to pay fees if you dont have them. They won't look at your water bill on a phone.
The city of Temple needs to update their website so that those things are reflected on the waste departments landing page instead of just saying you can take 1 load a month to the dump for free.
Inconsistent rules and policies. I went in twice this week and both times had different scale house attendants with different rules that simply pointed at the window with poorly written guidelines. Attendants are not polite. If you live in Temple but dont have temple water. Than youur subject to higher fee's. Website lacks information. If you have a small car then they have a dumpster near by. If you have a trailer, you will be sent to the back. Attendants can't tell between a strapped load and or loose load. Bring you load tarped since they can't figure it out you will pay 20 bucks for a "tarp fee". The landfill area is a mess. Sometimes there's a guide, sometimes there isn't. Therr isn't much organization per say. The ground near the pit is loose. Very loose. I can see people getting stuck that don't have 4x4.
Got here at 5:25 PM. I was flagged down by a worker (in his car, driving after me and honking at me), to tell me they closest 5. I told him the sign says 5:30. He said those are summer hours. It’s December. 0/5 stars.
We felt it was managed poorly. Too long a wait 1.5 hrs. To many workers standing around and could have been utilized in other areas. Better flow is needed.
