I've been dealing with them for a long time. I'm also a scrap business, so they tend to treat me a little better than the public. But great people in great staff to work with. Top prices on small metals!

I had a great experience. Instructions were clear and no confusion what so ever. The customer service was spectacular. I will most definitely be back!

Went here to drop off copper and aluminum scrap. Gotta drive REALLY slow on the scale when you first enter, had to redo that. The person who took the metal was pretty hard to understand but was nice enough. Gave me a slip and told me to go to the office. Gave slip to office and they gave me a check for $33. I'd go again.

Nice recycling company. Great experience. They unloaded my 53’ dry van super fast. I liked concrete driveways and concrete parking. Not even every second recycling company looks like this one.

The staff in the office are extremely rude and act like your bothering them with your questions. If you want to do any business with them be prepared to deal with their ignorance.

The office lady was a complete stuck up jerk. Not to mention shorted on the catalytic converter I dropped off. Was told by 2 other places that they should of given at least 80 but all they gave me was 35.00..definitely staying awa from them. No respect at all...

We have been taking scrap metal from our family business to TJN since 1996 and have always had pretty fair service. I went in today to unload a load of scrap metal and had the worst customer service I have ever experienced in my entire life. Will definitely be looking for a different place to take our metal from now on.

It is junk pickup in Sioux Falls. So I was out junk hunting. I got what I thought was aluninum but it was steel. It being my first time I did not sort it. So I took out my treasures and left the steel. Unloaded the steel and went back to get my items. And one of the workers were going through my stuff. And sure as snow they took 2 items that I see.

I was a little Leary going here with all the bad reviews. I had a very good experience. They were happy to explain differences in classes and even offered to let me sort through my copper to get better price on #1 ins vs.#2 ins. They coded one line on my check wrong but very happily found the mistake and cut me a second check. Thx TJN

Office staff were incredibly rude. They were completely unhelpful and told us we wouldn't get paid for the scrap we dropped off. I had even called in ahead to ask questions to figure out if it was worth us dropping some stuff off. I will never go here again. You're better off just taking your stuff to the landfill. At least the landfill has helpful staff.

All I can say is WOW! My friend and her husband brought in their hot water heater and they only got $.07!! That's right, SEVEN CENTS! Greedy people you are.

In one trip me and a friend brought in about 480lbs of stainless steel cooking equipment, unloaded it, got up to the office. They printed a check for $125 but then said it wasn't clean, so they printed another check for $25 and said it was tin price. I told them I would just reload it into my truck and return after I had cleaned it up. So you think they let me? Hell no. once it's unloaded it's theirs. Another trip ended with them telling us to go to the iron yard where I've never been told that you have to have the crane unload your stuff, and once I get up to office that's when they decide to tell you an employee had to unload it even tho they get your vehicle weight going in and leaving. Another trip ended with one of the ladies on the intercom becoming very rude to me before I even got past the scale. I do not recommend recycling there unless you've melted the metal down yourself even then, I would bet they would accuse you of it being copper covered lead

Great service but would be great if the website would say that the one on Rice street is closed on Saturdays. The website says it is open until 11 AM and they are not open on Saturdays

I usually don't say too much when people are rude to me but today at TJN was an exception. I have been going there for the last 3 years to recycle aluminum cans but today we were told to come back through the scale on our way out. I thought, ok, we can do that, never have been told to do that before, but ok! When I went inside the blonde said "did you stop at the scale on the way out?" I told her, "we did go on the scale on the way out but did not stop because my husband didn't see the stop sign until we went through, but we did get the scale amount." Needless to say she was soooo not happy. I said to her "you all have made some changes here, we were never informed to do that before." The blonde and another gal (brunette) behind the counter both spoke up and said "that has always been a rule" and both there necks turned bright red, like I should know this!!! They both were clearly very agitated with me! I in return said, "no, seriously, I have never been told to go back through the scale on my way out. The last three years that I have been here nobody has ever told me to do that and when I have come up to the office here afterwards to get my money nobody has ever said a word to me." The blonde looked at me and rudely said "well, I have been here 3 three years too, and the last 3 years I always have told everybody that comes through to come on that scale on the way in and on the way out" and then she rolled her eyes and spun herself around and stormed off and looked out the window. The brunette helping me also said, "this has always been a rule here!" I was dumbfounded! How could this be?? Why was I never told before?? Why are they treating me like I am lying? Why would I lie about something like this? But then there is more, when the brunette asked my name she also asked for my ID and then tells me I am not in there system???? What????? I told her, "that is so strange too , the last few times I have been here I have been through this very same thing!" How can I be a customer there for the last three years but not be in the system? So now, I am leaving and go outside to tell my husband what just occured and he is as dumbfounded as I am with this whole thing, so, we went back in and try to clear the air. The blonde and brunette are still there and we tell them "we would like to clear the air and would like to talk to a manager please?" The brunette said "I am sorry there is not a manager here right now" and the blonde shook her head in agreement. And guess what happens next? Carl walks in from his office!!! "Ha, my husband says, no manager here eh?" The blonde continues with yet another lie "I said that he was in there." Carl proceeds to tell us that in the beginning people coming through with aluminum cans did not have to come through on the scale. This confirms that those two girls lied to me!! All three employees were missing the point and that the rules change everytime we come there!! There needs to be some consistency there!! But we are done with TJN! I strongly recommend any other place for your recycling needs!!

I will never go back. I should have taken pictures of the scale. We came in at 14 thousand something and left at 8 thousand something. Looking at the record they said 3 thousand something? Seems to me about 3000 pounds are missing. Also what I brought is not what they paid me for. Worst scrap yard in the state! Don't waste your time going here!

My father went to drop off some aluminum cans the other day and left with a nail in his tire. When he called to give them a friendly heads up, he was met with a rude "Well, that's the chance you take when coming to a scrap yard" - which is true, but a simple "I'm sorry to hear that, we'll try to keep a better eye out in the future" would've been nice. He got a check for $29 for the cans and paid $25 to get the tire fixed..not really worth taking "the chance" to go there again.

Listen to the others. This place is a clown show. Told one thing, then another. Woman in the office is not friendly. Actually down right rude. I didn't say two words to her and she literally went off with arms flailing because I showed up with a truck full of aluminum. Don't waste your time. Go to Scrapmart.

These guys at tjn are awesome!! All of them are always very friendly and make me feel like they appreciated!! The gals in the office stayed late for me with no hesitation! Lance always comes up to me when i pull in....just to say hi and to help me...he will stop what he is doing to ensure i am being taken care of!! Anyone who complains about tjn or their workers probably complain if their ice cream is cold. Just saying.

It doesn't matter when you go, its always just miserable. Everyone is yelling and smashing stuff around, and half the time you just stand there like an idiot until they dump all your scrap on the scale, scribble something on paper, and then you're just expected to agree and go across the street. I wanted to know how much I could get for my scrap, and I didn't find out until the lady handed me a dinky check. I was not happy.

Rip off! They waited until I unloaded to low-ball me on scrap cable. Don't trust these people. Be sure you know the price before they rush you to unload. I won't be back.

I have been scrapping for thirty years. TJN has always been the place I have done business but the last time I was there was terrible I felt like I got screwed bad I had two pieces of extruded aluminum that had discoloration from the weather stripping adhesive so the guy running the scale called my whole load contaminated. He said because i brought in some acs and had two pieces discolored he only gave me acs price. if you ask me this guy totally ripped me off I will never do business with any place that practices crooked business. ill go to Minnesota if I have to but as long as they support this kind of activity I wont be back to TJN

The workers and office staff are polite. I've never had any problems with them even when I get confused as to how their system works because I am not a regular customer. I've found their prices to be competitive. Will definitely return and recommend them as a good source for recycling.
