Kids visiting from out of state accidentally parked in a business parking lot in Deadwood. Their vehicle was towed by Sunshine overnight roughly 3 miles away and kept for less than eight hours. Tow bill was $345. Our mistake for parking in an area we shouldn’t have, but $345! You be the judge.
Needed a tow while visiting from out of state. Broke down out by Cheyenne Crossing, the tow driver (I think the owner(?)) was very kind, efficient and helpful. I had also called the Sheriff Dept to let them know as my truck had died in not the safest of spots on the roadside. About the same time as the tow showed up, a deputy arrived and assisted in getting me and my dog, my beloved traveling companion, safely back to our rented cabin in Lead. The tow driver offered ideas of auto shops and when he got to our agreed destination he left the receipt in my truck and I paid over the phone. Easy. A big thank you to y'all for helping me more than you had to, Very appreciative! What a difference y'all made to what could have been a bad situation instead it was just a bump in my trip plans. Thank you!!
This morning my 23-year-old brother hit a deer on the interstate. He did the right thing — called the police, moved his vehicle safely off the road. (My brother said he would tow his vehicle himself)
Instead, this towing company showed up, hauled his car away, and is now refusing to let him take his personal belongings from the vehicle. On top of that, they will not accept a card or any form of traceable payment — cash only. No paper trail. How is that even legal?
This feels incredibly sketchy and predatory. They are taking advantage of a young college student who was just trying to be a responsible citizen after an accident. Instead of being treated fairly, he’s being extorted for cash and stripped of access to his own property.
People deserve to know how this business operates — with zero transparency, shady payment practices, and no respect for basic rights. Be very cautious if you ever have to deal with them.
I called Sunshine towing after calling the police department to see if they could help with the keys being locked in the car & there being a baby on the car. The Police department gave me Sunshine Towing number and they got someone on the road right away and he was in Spearfish within 10 minutes of my phone call. He wasted no time, jumped out of the truck and went straight to the car. After he unlocked the front door he climbed over the seats to open the door so the momma could get her baby. I am very very impressed and incredibly grateful!
My friend had a minor mishap of her doors locking as soon as she put her young infant in the car while it was running with the key fob inside. There was a little panic with the young one being in the car. We called sunshine towing and explained what happened and without hesitation they made their way to our location in less then 10 minutes to assist. The guy was very friendly and perfessional to get the door open. I was very impressed with the the timely arrival due to the situation and the guy on the phone was very reassuring. We did not get the guys name but are extremely grateful for the help! Thank you!
Our truck and trailer broke down with a full capacity load on a hill, Rocky came in and explained the plan clearly and precisely and got the job done while making me feel secure that it was gonna dive bomb down the hill. And the price was amazing, would recommend
I had an extremely troubling experience with this towing company. Not only did they deposit a $25,000 check, but they also charged my credit card for the same amount — resulting in a clear case of double billing. When I raised the issue, there was no transparency or effort to resolve the situation.
What's even more concerning is the owner's behavior. As a former police officer, he appears to use his connections to pressure people into using his services. If you decide not to work with him, be prepared — he may call the police on you. It's clear he leverages his local ties and the lack of nearby alternatives to force business his way.
This is not just poor service — it's unethical and feels fraudulent. I urge others to be cautious and report any suspicious or aggressive behavior. This kind of conduct shouldn't be allowed to continue.
These guys saved me in a pinch. I found myself off the side of an unplowed road into deep snow. I couldn’t get through to AAA so I called them direct and they were there in 15 min. I broke the cardinal rules and went wandering and didn’t have my shovel or winter gear with me. It was cold and close to nightfall at 15 degrees. The gentleman that showed up was polite and even waited at the end of the twisty road to make sure I got back down to the main road safely. Thank you for the assistance out of a situation that could have gone bad very quickly for me and my son.
I ended up not being able to use Sunshine as they didn’t work with my insurance. That said I was having issues with who could fix my camper van and where I would stay while waiting for my appointment which was days out. Josh was super helpful giving me tips on the area and the vendors involved. I was so sorry I couldn’t afford to use Sunshine. With their help I got through a crisis and that was with them making no money. Use them if you can!!
Sunshine towing saved from us from disaster last night! We were locked out of our RV at our campground. They came so quickly and worked diligently to get us in. We were so appreciative. Thank you so much!
Just got done dealing with a driver name JOSH. Was very quick to respond, (like within 10 minutes). Was very patient with me while dealing with the FORD DEALERSHIP (that's another story). After getting the run around with them, JOSH made some calls, and was swiftly able to find a place (Gene's Lock Shop), who was ready for me as I showed up, to help make a new key for my lost one. Props to them as well. They were 1/2 the cost of FORD. Josh was very polite, and went above and beyond. Call these guys first....
Sunday night around 6pm my vehicle needed a tow just outside Spearfish. Called Sunshine towing and they were there in 20 minutes. Jeremy was friendly and gave good recommendations on where to take my vehicle. The price for the tow was a competitive price. They keep it reasonable. I highly recommend.
This company is amazing! If you ever catch yourself in the Deadwood/Blackhills area in need of help…call them! Their serviceman came out ON A SUNDAY to change out my flat tire. My spare tire was super difficult to remove from the underside of my SUV (thanks to the engineers that ever thought that was a good idea 😩) and the entire process took longer than anyone could have expected. Even as a farm girl capable of changing a tire; I would have NEVER been able to accomplish this on my own. The final bill was half of what I expected to pay as an out-of-towner on a Sunday. This business has integrity and I can’t thank them enough for their service and fairness. 🙏🏻
Always quick to rescue me when I need a tow. Sadly I've needed more tows than I'd like to admit. Great service. Rocky is a great guy, he's rescued me more than once!
Had to pick up my vehicle that was towed away from Deadwood's parking garage. Paying for a parking permit doesn't mean anything. Deadwood has a new scam to generate revenue - towing residents cars for fun! The Towing Co is the innocent party and just doing their tow job in this latest City of Deadwood residental scam!

The person whom I spoke with was very polite and courteous when I called to Inquire availability & pricing for a Tow Dolly to assist in getting My Lil' VW BEETLE from Deadwood SD to the Liberty VW / Mitsubishi Service Department.

This company towed my vehicle after I attempted and failed to tow a vehicle myself. The driver was very knowledgeable and helpful. If I'm ever in the Deadwood area again and need my vehicle towed, I would definitely use this company. When we went back to get some of our items out, the staff behind the desk were also super helpful and went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of, even after it was discovered that someone may had stolen my kids wallets after we had to leave the vehicle elsewhere overnight. This is a great company and I hope they remain successful for the services they provide.
Our van broke down in Deadwood on a Saturday afternoon. Sunshine towing brought the van from Deadwood to Spearfish and then back to their shop for 2 nights as bad weather was expected. Due to issues our windows were not able to be rolled up and we had our belongings in the Van. WONDERFUL SERVICES, The cost of everything they did for us was less than the new battery we placed in our Van on Monday. He believes in treating his customers right and he is doing exactly that.
This company is full of mysteries twists turns lies the only time that anyone should really call them is if you need to be bonded out of jail because when you call for a tow truck and you had it planned with them since Monday and it's Wednesday you call them at 8:00 a.m. at 6:00 p.m. you're still waiting it explains it all black and white clear crystal read the times what a great company not my grandparents ran better businesses than you'll ever run.
Couldn't ask for better service. Very good at what they do especially sketchy situations like mine our driver did with ease. Compassionate and understanding. Fast response and was flexible to my time frame rather set to theirs. Highly recommend em! Especially if you find a steep embankment into an empty creek bed full of trees in a foot of snow! I fail to see who is my landlord was had anything to do with the unsatisfactory job. Unloading my son's vehicle... I don't enjoy bullies... You were in a hurry and had no respect for my son's property...i understand not having keys made it harder... But offer to haul it for scrape after asking me who my landlord was..... Don't worry... We got pictures... Need to work on that customer service.. And again... Was asking me about MY LANDLORD a threat???? If I could give a zero I would...
The owner and his helper were great!! We had been on the freeway for about 4 hours waiting and when my state farm agent called them and they were there in like 20 minutes.
Collin the owner found a place to get our truck fixed and a nice campground for us. We were extremely greatful ffor they did for us. Thank you so much!!!

As a business we utilize Sunshines services semi frequently. They're always really good with time estimates and when it's more of an emergency situation they always try and make you a priority.
