I came here to get some stuff to do my oil change. There was an older gentleman there, he was very rude, disrespectful, and stereotypical. One of the parts I needed was a washer for the oil drain plug, the part that he gave me was not the correct size and I tried telling him this. He went as far as to take me in the back. (which I know he was not supposed to do. I work in retail he's not supposed to do that.) And proceeds to try and tell me that this is the correct size, which it wasn't. So I said forget it, it wasn't important right now. Then he proceeds to ask me, "Well, who does your oil changes?" I said, "I do my own oil changes." He didn't say anything but he had this look on his face that was stereotyping. At that point I just ignored him and went home.
When I went there the second time because I thought I had the wrong oil filter. When I went there, same guy. I told him what happened he said "Well no wonder why it's wrong!" (I ignored that comment) So he looked it up on the computer and he tells me that what I have works in both types for both turbo and non-turbo. Okay fine, but then he proceeds to explain to me in a rude manner what the oil filter does, like I didn't know anything about vehicles. So I gave him the same attitude he was giving me. I said, "Then why bother asking if it's turbo or non-turbo?" He says, "Because we have to." At that point I just left.
I'm not the only one who has had issues with him in the past. My mother and stepfather has had issues with him as well.
This is not the first time I have gotten stereotyped at this place, this is the third time this year. I won't be going back anytime soon.
Our locally trusted parts store for many years here in the Black Hills, Lead - Deadwood community has benefited greatly from having our own dedicated Auto Parts store. They treat each customer as their only customer and I won’t go anywhere else.
These guys have been great at building hoses and finding parts they might not carry and have them the next day. All the parts staff is very knowledgeable.
After losing a screw to my starter assembly on my Harley I stopped here and the guy just came out and took a hour of his time to find the right part . Tried at least 4 different screws until he found the right one . Would of been a kick in the butt without that 1 part . Anyway hats off to the people that work there . I guarantee if it would a auto zone or another national store it would not have happened.
Thank you, guys! I had an issue with my van right before you closed and you guys tested all my fuses and stuck with me past closing. Amazing customer service.
These guys are awesome! They stayed open late after I called needing tire chains as they were closing, they had the chains waiting for me when I got there, showed me how to put them on, and then refused a tip for their kindness and excellent service.
Both my husband and I go here. We both have ordered parts and purchased parts in store. Everything we have thusfar (over the past decade) have been delivered in a timely manner and we have always recieved phone calls when our items have been brought in. Not to mention its ALWAYS the part we ordered (never had to reorder, That is a huge deal with us elsewhere)
Staff is always friendly and welcoming . Offering to help me even with the smallest of tasks and will chat with me the entire time I'm there which makes it feel personal rather than just business.
A personal touch is my son has recieved quarters when he has gone since he was little to buy candy from the machine. Sturdevants in Lead will always have my business for the family experience alone .
While getting a tire repaired across the street, I engaged conversation with another tourist who couldn't find special lights for an old car or trailer. I saw Sturdevant's and told him to check it out - sure enough, they had the odd ball bulb.
