Most of the 5-star reviews appear to be from family, friends, or possibly fake accounts.
He may offer to work on his day off, but he does not disclose upfront that he will charge three times the normal labor rate. In addition, parts that cost around $500 in stores are charged at double the price. I understand a reasonable markup (10–20%), but doubling the cost is excessive.
He refuses to clearly explain pricing beforehand. At the end, he may force you to either pay the inflated amount or leave your truck/car at his shop. He also insists on payment through Zelle only and does not accept credit cards, which is concerning. There is no clear notice about this policy in advance.

I am posting this review to document our experience and to inform other truckers and fleet owners.
We were charged significantly inflated prices on parts, close to 50% above normal market pricing. the Hendrickson MAXX22T brake caliper and brake pad kit were billed far higher than widely available pricing from major distributors.
We also paid a Saturday service call without any issue. However, the situation became extremely concerning when we were pressured to pay immediately via Zelle and were told that our truck would not be released unless payment was made.
Because of the pressure and the manner in which this was handled, we had no choice but to contact law enforcement to the location. After police involvement, we were then offered a $300 discount on parts, and saying will give discount if u don't involved any one and don't anything on social media regarding us . with the condition that we not escalate the matter or report the incident, which raised serious red flags. And we attached all bills copy who they play with it and even provided a proof of part price .
At this point, the matter has been documented, shared with our legal counsel, and is being reviewed for further civil action. We are also sharing our experience publicly so other drivers are aware of how breakdown situations are handled here.
Emergency breakdowns put truckers in a vulnerable position. Transparency, fair pricing, and professional conduct are critical. Unfortunately, our experience did not reflect that.
We strongly advise others to:
• Get written estimates before work begins
• Verify part pricing independently
• Be cautious of payment method pressure
• Document everything during emergency repairs

Great shop we broke down on a Sunday a mechanic who was friendly and professional got us in quick got our truck up and running. Absolutely great pricing and clear on what was wrong and what had to be done and very clear on price up front everything you want as an owner of. When needing to going to a repair shop

Had a windshield wiper break on I90 West about 50 miles out. I called Overweg from the ignition app. Told them we're 40 minutes out with a broken wiper, can your shop fix that quickly? They said, "Yes. We'll put somebody on it as soon as you get here." We stopped, ran in, they ran out and replaced it for us. Done They were kind, professional, and easy to find, right off Exit 284. They even gave us a free stress ball! Highly recommend!
Awesome people and outstanding service. Our trailer snapped an axle during our trip on a Sunday. Dan came out and helped us out in a pinch and got us back on the road.

So grateful for the kindness and speedy service at Overweg today! We were halfway through a family vacation from MN to Badlands and my husband noticed our back tires were wearing very uneven and needed to be replaced midway through our trip to avoid a bad situation. We happened to pull over in Kimball and are so thankful Overweg’s was right down the road. They got us in right then, gave us directions for us to walk with our 5 kids to a park and had it repaired in no time. Service was wonderful from the front desk staff and mechanic and the prices were perfectly reasonable! Highly recommend for anyone traveling and needing tires or repair! Thank you!!
Would avoid unless no way you can get elsewhere. Put wrong fluid into my car and made an already bad car situation more stressful. Didnt feel they made any attempt to rectify... No refund offered, no apology. Also, they may offer to help you out on a day theyre closed, which is nice in general, but they neglect to mention theyll upcharge you a weekend fee. Not unfair of them, but transparency is always best policy.
We were driving back home when our DEF sensor wouldn’t reset. We were about 10 hours away from home. We stopped at Loves on the corner on Kimball, looked for a shop and Overwegs popped up. But they brushed us off and made us feel unwanted. So, we went down the street to Kaleb’s, and they were amazing! I highly recommend going a block down.
After stopping at and calling several places, we had no luck finding the parts we needed. We were able to limp our truck along to Overweg who miraculously had the exact part we needed in stock. Very friendly staff. Absolutely saved our day! Highly recommend this repair shop!
Overweg helped me and my family with an emergency towing situation on a Saturday. After towing my vehicle to their shop, they worked with me for over a week on determining if we would fix the vehicle etc, as I was 8 hours from home when this happened. Kayla was great at communicating with me and the entire staff was helpful and kept me informed along the way. Even though I don't live nearby, I definitely recommend this repair shop to those that are in the area!
Dan and Hayden came in on a Sunday To replace a blown tire on our church van. We ended up getting four total. Great people to work with bent Over backwards to take care of us very friendly people very professional highly recommend their hometown service!
One of our camper tires blew up driving through South Dakota on our family vacation. With our spare tire on we made it to the Kimball, SD exit. Overweg Repair was able to fit us in immediately with a new tire and we were quickly on our way. Highly recommend them for their courteous and prompt service.
I can’t say enough good things about Overweg Repair. Today, even though the shop was closed, the owner went out of his way to open up and repair the AC on my truck a level of dedication that’s hard to find these days. This is my second time bringing a vehicle here, and both experiences have been consistently excellent. The service is professional, the work is high quality, and the pricing is fair and transparent.
What really stands out is the honesty and care they put into their work. I left feeling confident that my truck was fixed properly and that I wasn’t overcharged. It’s rare to find a shop that combines skill, integrity, and customer service so well. I only wish I lived closer so I could make this my go-to place for all my vehicle repairs and maintenance. This review is over a year overdue, but the incredible service I received from Overwig Auto Shop has stuck with me ever since.
On a freezing January morning, my car battery died while I was driving down the interstate—a stressful and dangerous situation. Overwig came through when I needed help the most. They responded quickly, got my car safely taken care of, and even provided me with a rental so I could make it to an out-of-town work trip without missing a beat.

We had car trouble on the way from Rapid City back to the east side of South Dakota with multiple lights popping up on our Pilot's dashboard. Overweg was the closest shop so we gave them a call. Exemplary service!! Broke down at the loves truck stop there in Kimball. I explained my situation and they worked me in right away. Dan, and Gavin were very knowledgeable, and honest about the problem and possible solutions. After establishing a plan, and ordering parts they had me back on the road in no time. Walked in shortly after opening and they were able to replace a broken valve stem and pull a chunk of steel out of the tire. Super fast and friendly service! One of the best repair / tire shops I have visited in a long time! Thank you very much and keep up the good work!!!!
We blew a tire on our camper traveling East on Interstate 90. Called quite a few places looking to purchase a new tire to replace the blown one, as we still have a 6 hour journey home. Overweg answered the phone on a Saturday at 3pm when they were closed but still willing to help. By the time we arrived at their shop it was 5pm. They replaced 2 of our camper tires and we purchased 2 more to be mounted when we get home. The young man that helped us was very helpful and polite. Not one complaint about working on a Saturday late afternoon . He worked fast and efficiently. Very knowledgeable about tires and had us back on the road within 40 min! Thank you for all your help.
We were traveling 2,100 miles across the country moving our family from Montana to Georgia this June. 5pm Sunday afternoon the tongue on my boat trailer sheared off just a mile East of Kimball. I called Dan and he showed up to rescue us about a half hour later. On top of that, he was able to have us back on the road by lunch time the next day. Great man and great company. I would definitely recommend if in the area.
We blew a tire out on the interstate and were able to donut over to them. They had our tires in stock where two other shops did not. Able to get us in and out in less than an hour onto the road for our trip. Thanks so much!!
I am grateful for the amazing service provided and the calming vibe from Dan. I waited 3 hrs for another towing company that never showed up after charging me. I called Overweg, and Dan said he'd be at my location in minutes. True to his word, he had me unstuck and on my way in minutes. Very knowledgeable and skilled service. Highly recommend you call whenever in need of towing or recovery services.
If I could give these guys 10 stars, I would. We were headed west on 90 and hit a rest stop to dump our tanks in our camper. My husband noticed our one tire was worn down on the inside to the steel. I checked the other side of the camper and sure enough the back tire on the passenger side was wearing the same. It was not as bad as the other side, but still not good either. These guys were the closest to us and had great reviews. I gave them a call and asked if they had trailer tires in stock and she said they had 12 so come on down and park in the back then give them a call. We got there 10 min before closing. Hubby talked to the mechanics and they did some measurements. Found out that our axle was out of alignment by half an inch. They made availability for the next morning to get the axle realigned and two new tires on the trailer. They was fast, efficient, and very reasonably priced. The biggest blessing is there is a campground that is privately owned adjacent to them, so we had a safe place to stay for the night as well 😀 The folks at Overweg are very friendly and genuine.
Great place to get a flat tire in front of on a late Saturday afternoon…. So helpful and accommodating!! The motorcycle guy came back from his vacation on a Sunday and went straight to the shop to fix us up!!! Our motorcycle trip might have be ruined if not for the kindness and loyalty this place provided to us!! God Bless them!! If you are ever in Kimball South Dakota please give them a shout out and utilize their services!!!! Not to many places around who honor customers like they did!!!!
Overweg helped me out when my kids and I got stranded at the gas station across the street. They towed me over and diagnosed everything after hours. The part was not available until the following Monday but they were able to set me up with a rental to allow me to enjoy my weekend. Such kind and wonderful people.
They went above and beyond and wish I could give the 6 stars. This will sound weird but the breakdown could not have occured in better place.
We were on the return leg of our camping trip to Wyoming when the bearings failed on our camper and stranded us on the side of I90 outside of Kimball,SD. Dan left a charity event he was attending to come and get us off the road and was there exceptionally fast.
We drove ahead and met him back at his shop where we grabbed what we needed and what would fit in our truck out of our camper. Our children were stressing out over the whole situation and Dan again came to the rescue and gave them some candy and chatted with them while we loaded the truck up.
Then to top the whole situation off he was able to get the axle and hub replaced, inspect the other axle, grease the other bearings so the camper was ready to be back on the road by Thursday with great communication through the whole process.
Then Dan and his wife Corrine to the rescue again we picked up the camper pretty much willing to pay anything for the amazing service they had provided and the bill was exceptionally fair. And while we waited to get the paperwork done Corrine gave the girls each a little toy to keep them occupied.
They went out of their way and if you ever have an option where you will break down, this is the place to do it. We cannot thank you enough for everything you did.
While traveling thru South Dakota, heading to Indiana, the rear end went out of my truck pulling our fifth wheel camper. Overweg was able to tow our camper to the nearest campground and from there took the truck to their shop. This happened late on a Saturday and first thing Monday morning they had the truck tore apart to access the damage. They ordered parts and stayed late in order to get it up and running and we were back on the road Wednesday morning. Would highly recommend Dan and his entire crew at Overweg.
