They provided excellent customer service, which made for a very good experience. It’s nice to work with people who want to help their customers. I highly recommend GBS Building Supply to anyone looking for quality materials, great service, and a welcoming atmosphere.
Outstanding establishment, I had purchased lumber about six years ago from this place to do a pool deck project, the service in the products that were delivered outstanding. I’d sort of forgotten about this place because they’re only open during the week, I worked during the week I was quickly reminded that this place was in existence when I went to a big box store to purchase some lumber they had 72 pieces in , I went through every last one and could not find a good one. At GBS lumber that I went to today I could not find a bad piece of lumber. This place is outstanding. I just wish they were open on the weekends.
Terrible service, treat "non priority" customers like trash and they won't even stay open till 5. I'll never spend another dollar in there. Know many people who have had the same experience and say the same
I could have driven to Pickens or Clemson by the time someone acknowledged me the two times I've been in this store in the past week. But I won't be returning because they try to cheat those who don't pay attention. Most (4 out of 5 today) of the items ring up a different price than what's on the shelf. To be fair, one item rang up less, but one item rang up $4 more They don't give an itemized receipt unless you ask and that seems to be a bother for them. It was an even bigger bother for him to give me a refund. Save yourself the trouble. If you can't get what you need at Dollar General, just drive somewhere else.
Good guys work inside, pretty much know their store inside and out. Little pricy on some things. But stocked good enough for the average diyer. Of course with space to work with. Still got the home town feel.
After waiting about 25 minutes for someone to help me grab what I needed in the lumber yard I grabbed it myself. I try to support local but sometimes it is difficult.
We tried to shop here but everyone ignored us. Seems they are interested in selling truck loads of lumber not hardware. So Bivens in Pickens is our new local store to shop. Less expensive and friendly. We support our local small businesses. Not here
I wanted to get a quote on building materials for a big project that I was going to build. Provided a drawing with some notes on things I wanted never heard from them for2 weeks. I checked on the progress of the service I inquired about, never submitted it to "the guy" for estimated material and cost.
I guess shopping locally doesn't mean anything to the folks at gbs in six mile!

Sales associate did not call when product arrived as promised, acted inappropriately when I "Entered the store" looking for my order that I had previously paid for!
I will almost certainly go out of my way to avoid the place for future endeavors!
Update......after inspection of the goods ordered it turns out that it was exactly the opposite of what I specifically said I wanted!!!
Should have just drove to Lowe's and avoided the Six Mile GBS altogether ?
Gave some specific details on some doors i wanted to purchased... asked them to modify the original quote and then they changed things I didn't ask them to modify... might as well order stuff on the internet because the salesman don't follow directions and change orders without direction...
