Wonderful state park if you want to camp and fish! The shop was great and staff super friendly! Definitely will be returning to camp and enjoy the beautiful fishing going on here!

The lake was absolutely beautiful. I loved the peaceful views and the trails for riding my bicycle. ??♀️ Such a refreshing way to spend the day!

Quiet campground (it is February) with beautiful lake views. Sites are well tended and the restrooms were clean. Enjoyed seeing loons on the lake.

Terrible experience!! Check in was a nightmare since staff refused to give me my disability discount even though I had proof that I'm a Ovarian Cancer Survivor of 8 years with placard from my doctor and SCDMV. Got to our site and it was so unlevel we couldn't get level and then the power box was so far away our power cord wouldn't reach. Called ranger and they couldn't help. She ended up giving us a refund and we traveled back home.

Where to begin. We booked this campground about 13 months in advance, yes, 13 months! It's seems to be a very popular campground, with tons of fishermen, families, and vanlife people staying. Driving to this campground is relatively straight forward, and easily found via GPS. Weather was pretty good while we were there for a week. Here is are pro's and con's list. Pro's: 1) Awesome Site, right on the water. Step out and its all water! 2) Full Hook Ups - Can be a bit rare at certain state parks. 3) Its a state park, easily walk, bike, or drop in your kayak/boat. 4) We were able to launch our kayak directly from our campsite which was awesome! 5) My son caught several fish from the bank including a good size catfish. 6) Quite a few water front sites. Campers were able to park there boats directly on the shoreline. 7) Our particular site (#14) had tree's that my son was able to set up his hammock on. 8) Paved (Asphalt) Sites! Con's: 1) I don't think I saw a single level site. Some are so bad, I didn't see anyone in those particular sites. 2) Most sites were quite close together. Not much in the way of privacy. 3) Sewer was uphill and a pain. Other utitilies were fine. 4) A bit on the expensive side for a state/city/county park. Most we stay at are about $30-50. This was at $65 tax. 5) There are only (2) spots we believe someone our size would fit. Site #14 (which is the one we were in) and the one behind us. If we were to stay again, I'd go with Site #12. 6) Sites aren't cleaned between campers (atleast from what we saw). There was a good amount of trash, cigarette butts, etc... Left from previous campers. Never saw the camp host do much outside of sitting outside their RV. Overall, we'd stay here again. You do need to book SUPER early to get water front sites.

Beautiful place to camp. They also have very nice cabins right on the water..

I stayed a week just before the big winter storm. Quiet out idyllic would be the 2 words I would use to describe this place in the Winter. I can imagine it gets quite busy in the summer, but at this time of year expect beautiful views, peaceful walks and gentle lapping of the waves on the lakeshore. Dreher Island appears to be a fishing lake, so if you're inclined, bring your boat. They have a marina with plenty of parking. And it's location on the lake is very central, so there's many miles of lakeshore to explore. If you're planning on staying anywhere near Columbia, Dreher Island is a good choice.

A gorgeous place to walk during the fall, even saw deer in the woods. It's a good place to swim during the summer and have family day outings with kayaking on the lake. I would recommend this. Please for swimming and a family outing. They have several different parks, areas of restrooms throughout the entire park.

We camped in our rv and enjoyed the quiet and peace of the park. There is a Little Free Library by the office for those of us who don't enjoy fishing and their gift store has a variety of things to purchase.

Not far from I-26, Great views, boat friendly, kid friendly, tent camping, RV camping & cabins! Say what, yes this better be on your destinations to come to stay at. Even the hike to camping for tents is very close from parking and Maori have water front and lake view. WOW!! Take a look!

Dreher Island State Park is a beautiful place to camp and relax. The location on the lake is excellent, with peaceful views and plenty of nature all around. It has that classic state park feel where you can actually slow down and enjoy being outside. Everyone we interacted with was friendly and helpful, which always makes a stay better. The campsites are nice and well maintained, and the park overall feels clean and cared for. If you’re traveling with a big rig, just know it’s a bit tight getting around and backing in. It’s manageable if you take your time, but it’s not the easiest layout for larger setups. Once you’re parked, though, the views and atmosphere make it worth the effort. Overall, a really great state park with a friendly vibe and beautiful surroundings. We’d happily stay here again.

Great state park on Lake Murray. We took the teardrop camper here over Thanksgiving. Sites are nice with electric and water available on each site. Restrooms had hot showers and we were well maintained. The tackle shop, located at the entrance, has just about everything you need or forgot. They also sell bundles of firewood at a reasonable price.

We enjoyed our stay over the Thanksgiving holiday week. The small campground loop had full hook ups. We also enjoyed being on the smaller loop. Even though it was close to capacity it didn't feel crowded.

The park is located on a peninsula in Lake Murray, not far from Columbia. It's got some excellent hiking trails and camping and picnic sites. A great place to spend a day!

Camping at Dreher Island has been a long tradition in my family and we love this campground. It has become very popular and we understand why! The campground host Gary was helpful, friendly and engaging. Love the addition of doggie poop trash cans-sure make discarding the waste easier. Highly recommend but don’t rush to get there ! Lol

Just spent a loong weekend at Dreher Island SP Campground. We had a site at the very tip. Amazing views, could watch sunset and moon/sunrise, beautiful. Water and electric at site, dump station on grounds. Perfect if you love water activities. We launch canoe right from our site. About and hour from Congaree National Park. Host Gary and Lisa were very friendly and love that they have started there own little dog waste receptacles around the campground. Great for dog owners. Would have been even better if they had the stations with extra bags along with their garbage cans.

We stayed at the primitive campsites 1 and 2. They were both covered with down trees, presumably from storm Helene. It's been over a year. Not sure why there wasn't more tree removal. I know it's a primitive site but site 1 had almost zero space to set up tents.. Site 2 was better with space for tents but could use some more work.

Nice little park! Some short hiking trails, nice picnic spots. The cabins look nice and they have some pet friendly ones. Bathrooms were clean and at most parking spots.

Took our pop up camper here for camping, really enjoyed the experience of camping in the outdoors but my only problem with this park is it needs some renovating to bring it up to par to make it a great campground. Some of the roads need repaved, very bumpy in areas, campsites for what you pay could use some upgrades. Otherwise camping here was good with lake view site and paved with electric and water. Site was narrow and down hill a little which required several leveling blocks.(site 65).

Expensive and mainly designed for "glampers" but good. RV pads are closer than they appear, so not much privacy or respect from others walking around your camp area.

They continue to have a bed bug issue. Last year it was cabins 8 and 9, this year its spread to cabin 6. I don't trust them to get this resolved, so after 7 years of spending Labor Day at Dreher Island we won't be back.

I've visited this park several times already. Its a beautiful place. They have many picnic areas and grilling stations. There are fasciltiies near picnic areas. If you you would like to get onto the water they have a shop where you can rent a paddle board or a kayak. Great park to spend a day in nature

Campground. Area with full hookups had no level sites. Maintainance came quickly when water hookup was damaged. Water access was everywhere. Wild birds entertaining. Only hiking trail way back at end 5 miles away

Picnic landing pad 1. Let me tell you something if you had a choice. Going with number three would have been the flattest option and a little more level but we only had the option for pad number one. You can pull in at the top of the location and drop all your stuff off and then park maybe 300 ft up the road in a nice little parking area that was with wide open parking on the busiest day of the year. Because typically only people with the picnic area parked there so it's a lot of room. There are some rocks getting down to the water so it's not just sand. Pretty big rocks to climb on to get into the water and take up about 5 ft. But I have kids at various ages and they were all morning capable of climbing down through the rocks to get into the water definitely a perfect spot to reserve for 35$ bucks 100% would recommend. We got there in the whole park. Was packed crazy full on a Saturday but the quiet little place to get to for the picnic pads was amazing. Quiet and had tons of room between you and the next landing Pad comes with a flat pad and a picnic table and also a tiny charcoal grill you typically see at a park. This spot has room for two hammocks. We use both. It was amazing. If you sit in a chair by the edge of the water, there's a Cool breeze that comes in in the afternoon. Also, in the morning it's really sunny at the picnic table, but there's a nice tree that provides shade by midnoon and all afternoon, it's nice and shade. Also nice bathrooms within 50 ft of walking distance directly across the street from the pad.

Great place. We stayed at a Full Service RV site. We could view the lake from our back window. There is plenty of shade and several spots for swimming access. Restrooms are clean and maintained. The Tackle Shop is a nice convenience store. Not a whole lot to do at the park, but it was a good trip. The herd of deer roaming the area daily is a bonus.
