I am only ranking this as a 3 because I was disappointed at the campground. But we have figured out we are not marsh campers. We had a minor health issue and the closest urgent care was an hour away.

They're actually two separate camp areas on Edisto Island. When is featuring beachfront camping and the other one features camping on a salt marsh not far from the beach. We were there for 6 nights and had a great time this campground is not too busy this time of year during the week but fills up on the weekend. The facilities are fine there's plenty of hot water for showers and the electrical and water hookups were excellent. There is a grocery store and gas station convenience store within walking distance, in a really good hardware store not too far away. Even when the campground was full on the weekend it was extremely peaceful and quiet. We particularly enjoyed the walking trails around the marsh and the wildlife that we saw. The park rangers there and the folks working the office were outstanding. Southern hospitality at its finest.

Stayed 3 nights in the beach campground. The site was 47 an ADA site so it was concrete and level. Not all the sites are that level so be prepared. The bathhouses are very well kept. The beach access is very easy from any of the sites. The beach is wonderful. Lots of nice shells and I don’t think it would be overly crowded anytime of the year. It was cold during our trip and not many people at all. Everything is fairly walkable from there. The playground is not in the campground, but is a 10 minute walk. As is the gift shop. The roads are sand and difficult for scooters but great for bikes. The beach is dog friendly as long as they’re on a leash. The dump station is a hike and not great for dragging a storage tank. I recommend using their facilities as much as possible. We didn’t have to dump until we left. The station is about 1/2 mile from the campground and not well marked. The access is also very tight. I’m in a diesel pusher and had about 5”-8” clearance on each side getting in and out of the dump at the gates. Once you’re inside the dump itself. It’s not bad. We have T-Mobile WiFi and had great reception. The tv antenna also picked up Savannah and Charleston stations very well.

The campground is a new favorite! A beautiful beach with easy close access, level campsites and really clean bathhouse. A great gift shop, environmental learning center and miles of shoreline. Beautiful trees, abundant wildlife and peaceful.

We camped at the Live Oak Campground. The rangers at the station are very friendly and informative. Bathrooms are clean. Tent sires are very specious and mostly private. Wonderful trail system. Definitely a gem for State parks.

Just a brief walk up and down the beach my first time visiting it was nice and friendly folks.

Well maintained State Park. The staff was very friendly! Wish there was some sort of ventilation in the restrooms though. That was rough!

We always go to the beachfront rv park in the state park. The staff is always extremely friendly and helpful and the prices are reasonable. You can’t beat having the beach just steps away and listening to the surf 24 hours a day!

Better than I expected! This is absolutely one of the best beach state parks. Good facilities, nice campsites, clean bathrooms. Highly recommend for a day trip or a camping trip.

I visited the park for the just second time recently. The park staff - each time - was *incredibly* nice and hospitable. The grounds are wonderful. "Thank you" to everyone involved.

This was a beautiful place to visit and to hold a wedding event. Magnificent Live Oaks trees fill the 88 acre property. The staff were well prepared, helpful, kind, Curteous and they always had smiles on there faces. I would highly recomendvthis beautiful location. The owner Matthew was so so very kind and thoughtful towards everybody. He opened his place up when all was lost 2 weeks before the wedding. He came to the rescue and preserved the gift of God for Holy Matrimony. I thank God for all that he did for us!

Nice campsites under the oak trees 30 and 50 amp service, water and dump station. One section is near the beach it's kind of open, the second section is more secluded in the oaks and further from the beach. Nice restrooms with showers & small gift shop. Gorgeous wide beach.

The beach campground at Edisto SP is about as good as it gets. Sites are all set up within easy walk to the beach. We stayed in mid October. Beach is fantastic and the weather was great. Great little town with restaurants and grocery.

We only visited the Learning Center. The guide interacted well with the children. We enjoyed all the information given to everyone. All the children that attended the program seemed to enjoy seeing the different species and enjoyed feeding them. Our grandchildren enjoyed feeding the turtle.

We had a great time. The lady at the entrance was very friendly and helpful and kind. The beach was lots of fun. There were plenty of picnic tables and the bathroom and changing rooms were clean.

Edisto Beach State park is an amazing place. Just look at those pictures, and that is just a glimpse. We stayed in camp site 3 as we have in the past. It is not flat, the ground goes up and then back down, but for a tent camp site it is ideal. The camp hosts that are caring for the site right now are a step above. I've never been at a SC state camp ground that had dirty bathrooms etc. The level up that this team's was amazing they had bug deterant bags through out the camp grounds. Bathrooms were impeccably clean. Even had a night where a couple of campers were not the cleanest in the showers, with sand and other thing all over the showers. By the next morning they were fully cleaned with no evidence of their mess and 0 complaint from the hosts! I was shocked 😲 at how cleaning was. Many many thanks to the amazing staff at the Park.

Small park, has one campground integral and another nearby but separate. Great history and natural beach, lot of sea turtle activity. The beach is wild and natural- don't expect wide, flat, white sand like at a resort. This is a park for those who want to get away from city and commercial life and closer to nature. There are no hotel rooms, only campsites and a few cabins.

Camping here 4 days. Sites are tight and narrow. Difficult for big rig parking. Water and electric, no sewer hookups. Close to the beach, which has restrooms. A few dining options on the island, 1 grocery store and 1 gas station on the island. Small and quaint place. Other than the beach no family activities.

Very clean parking lot, restrooms and beach! We found several shark teeth and really nice shells. They have a WiFi room, a store with snacks, drinks and beach essentials. We will definitely be back!

We had a wonderful time at the beach! It's always well maintained. It was sparsely populated on a Friday morning and was able to fully enjoy the waves and sun. We always have a great time at Edisto!

Adorable little southern beach town! I’ve been here many times because we just keep falling in love with Edisto for its gorgeous views and wildlife. The State Park has many convenient facilities for a perfect day (or week) at the beach. The cost-friendly activities throughout this small beachfront town are just another plus!

What a great park! We stayed just to be near the beach in the Live Oak campground. Sites are private and we found a site that was long enough for our truck & 40ft 5th wheel. The beach here, spectacular 😍 There were loggerhead turtle nesting sites there and lots of shells and nice sand. The store is great & the park office along with the rangers were fantastic. We lived our stay here. There is only water & electric but the dump station is across the street, which is fine. The island is really pretty and not terribly busy at this time of year.

The park consists of several locations which unfortunately for us was not clear on the brochure so we had to double back to see the interpretive center on Rt 174 and then back to the beach area. The signs for the center are a bit ambiguous. We were not sure if it was the place we were looking for. When we finally got to it and parked we had to discern where to go and how to get in. As we entered the staff was busy chatting and took awhile to actually greet us. Over all they were more interested in chatting than informing us of what the center had to offer. The ranger talk based around the tank and it's inhabitants within the center was quite disappointing. Very unusual in our experience to have someone doing a presentation within the center unfamiliar with many basic concepts of the area. The center itself is worth a stop though as its displays are well thought out and informative. Having seen the sea turtle nest all over the beach in Edisto we were most interested in learning more about them. We ended up adopting a nest and the certificate and stuffed turtle that came with the adoption made the experience extra special. Unfortunately the staff was unable to tell us where along the beach it was but gave us a section of the beach where we were likely to find it. We did find it a bit further down than they guessed but not too far. The beach area has a very nice gift shop, bath house and plenty of parking. Over all a pleasant experience.

There was a heatwave while we were there and we were on the marsh—the primitive tent sites. It was so miserable. When we first arrived in the afternoon there was a slight breeze so we were hopeful even though it was hot. But by the time the sun went down there was absolutely no air movement and the mosquitos came out in full force. We had a battery operated fan in the tent, but it just moved around hot air. The temperature didn’t fall below 82 the entire night. We canceled the other two nights and moved to a hotel outside of Charleston. I would never ever go back to the live oak campground in July or August.

Edisto Beach State Park truly is a gem for the park service and a blessing for South Carolina. To have such a nice beach preserved for public access and not over-developed is a terrific gift to the people. The beach is large and not very crowded. The parking lot is not overly large so it limits the number of people able to access the park which means there is plenty of room for everybody. There is an awesome store on site with almost anything you need for a beach or camping visit and very reasonable prices for supplies and gifts. They even have beach wheelchair rentals. The staff was very friendly (this time it was one of the camp hosts). If you are camping within the park at either the beach campground or the Live Oak Campground access is included with your stay, otherwise it is $8/person. There are many picnic tables, grills, and a playground available for first come usage. This is a great state park. It is no wonder why it was rated as one of the best in the state.

Had a blast, great shells at this beach. Watched pelicans fishing very close which was so cool. There are no lifeguards, so it's swim.at your own risk. Bathrooms, outside shower, playground, grills and really awesome staff complete this beach. There is also a pizza restaurant a short walk to the right of this beach.

Well rooms are a bad description since I was camping but the campsite I stayed at was incredible! I stayed at the Live Oak Campground on the Marsh side and it was a beautiful and peaceful experience! The sites have electric and water, I don't believe there are any sewage hookups but there are 3 dump stations. You can't walk to the beach but the beach entrance is a quarter mile drive and has a very large parking lot with showers, changing rooms, and a little store. The bathhouse really could use an upgrade but it was usable and clean enough. Everyone I came across was friendly and helpful. Overall we had a great few days!

This is one of our favorite state parks!! We prefer to stay in the beach campground. It is a 10 second walk out to the beach and you can hear the waves crashing 24/7. Overall it’s always pretty quiet and relaxing but we’ve only stayed in fall or spring. Not sure what summer brings. There are bath houses with standard showers/no laundry. We enjoy riding our bikes on the many trails down by the Live Oak Campground. We put 30+ miles on our bikes last weekend. Also right outside of the gate is a grocery store, ABC store and a few restaurants. Oh and a gas station. The grocery store has everything including ice and firewood. The campground is always booked but we usually get lucky with a cancellation.

Stayed here all day and walked all of the trails! There was construction happening in some areas, but still such a beautiful park. Lots of seashells along the trail, and if you're attentive, you get to see a lot of wildlife and critters everywhere. Great place for an ecology lover, but also for anyone who just enjoys a little walk on a nice day. You get to see marshes and the river!
