We went camping here at Christmas ?. The sites are really large in campground 2. Very well maintained and the lake is beautiful. Very quiet.

Just a fantastic campground! So much to see and do. A nature lovers paradise. My last visit was a cold weather trip in November. Kept a fire going most of the week. Friends were there also. We enjoyed the time. So many families were there as well, making lifetime memories.

I stayed at site T7 this weekend. Great site, close to the Lake. Bathroom a few minutes walk from the site. Both campgrounds 1 and 2 looked great. Bathhouse clean. Really nice campsite, will be back and book T6. Short haul from the parking lot. Totally doable. My dog had ample room to run around.

One of my favorite parks for camping. Large wooded sites, many are lakeside.

Great spacious campsite # 20. Nice store but no ice. On the edge of town, so quick trip for lunch at Good Eats 4U for good small wings. 10/3/25 - Stayed @ site 13. Windy but beautiful campground

This is the best state park we’ve been to in S.C. It is very clean and well maintained. There are great campgrounds, swimming beaches, a camp store, marina, boat ramps, etc. Absolutely beautiful!!

Quiet. Family friendly nature surrounding. Camping. Picnics and family gathering. Swimming. Great camp store. Friendly staff and game warden answered all questions we had.

Great place to get away for a few days. Everything is conveniently located within the park, including access to Comfort Stations and fishing spots. Hiking trails are available, and there is a store by the boat launch that has fishing poles you can use with a valid Sc fishing license. Get a Huckleberry icee while you are there! Swimming and tennis courts provided an extra common area to hang out and enjoy the park. Campsite 19 and 20 provide the best views of the lake and sunrise/sunset.

Calhoun Falls State Park is a small quaint park located on the shores of Lake Russell near the town of Calhoun Falls in Abbeville County, SC. There’s also a beautiful beach with lots of picnic tables and a concession area inside the beach house. The campground offers spacious and secluded campsites along the lake. There’s walk-in camping and tent sites too. Plenty to do at the park; kayaking, boating, swimming, hiking? fishing with a tennis and basketball court. Park is well maintained and bathrooms are clean. #SCStateParks⛺️ #GetOutAndPlay??⛱️?♂️? #HappyPlaces❤️

Calhoun Falls State Park is a beautiful place to camp and enjoy the lake and woods. M-F was a good choice with not many other campers, so aside from the occasional boat or jetski on the lake, it was quiet. Bathhouses were acceptable, and patrols were frequent to maintain safety. The fishing pier was a nice walk, passing the amphitheater. There are several double sites in addition to single sites, making it convenient to vusit with familybor friends. There are many sandy beaches to play on or just relax in the sun and islands to explore with the help of a boat, kayak or paddleboard. This is one of the top parks on our list and will be getting a return visit.

This was the most peaceful state park I've been to. It was quiet and peaceful the views were lovely. Lake Russell was beautiful and clear. Not over crowded like every other lake in the state.

I went to Calhoun Falls State Park with my two dogs for a day trip. Entry fee is $3.00. They have a nice sandy beach, play areas for children, picnic tables, basketball court, tennis courts, a marina, convenience store, boat ramp and fishing pier that I saw. We took the 2 mile trail that loops through the woods, it’s located on the other side of the road near the tennis courts. In addition to the day area, there were camp/RV sites located near the lake. I’ll definitely be back to go camping when it cools down a bit.

Beautiful campground. The roads are paved and the sites are nice. The bathroom was clean and warm which was nice cause it was cold out. There is also parking spots near the bathrooms including a handicapped spot. The day use areas had a lot of picnic tables and a nice swimming area. They are very dog friendly at this park. The lake is quiet with not a lot of boats. I love this park and will be back.

Our family loved our camping trip here. We had a beautiful spot on the lake, which was perfect for the 4 kids we had with us. The only complaint I have is the same complaint I have with ALL of these parks and that's the bath houses. I know they must be hard to keep up, but updates are definitely needed here!

Absolutely loved it here!! The atmosphere was such a vibe ? the bathroom was clean and showers too!! The campgrounds were clean as well. My youngest child enjoyed the playground while my oldest enjoyed hanging out in the cove. If I could give them 10 stars I would!! We will be back for many more trips!!

Best friendly family state park around to me especially if you want to go camping and the people are nice plus some spots you have an excellent view to the lake. I absolutely love it!

We absolutely had a wonderful time here this weekend, did a short little getaway in our travel trailer and really enjoyed this hidden gem! Our campsite was great, sandy area that had a nice fire ring and picnic table, I love how the campsites are spread out a good bit so you’re not so close to your neighbors! There were walking trails and a cute little store to shop at when we checked in, also got info on rentals and were able to do a day kayak rental and went 3 times in the lake. There is no full hook up here to sewer but there is electricity and water and the bathhouse was nice too, definitely plan a stay here!

Calhoun Falls State Park SC This is another spacious campground along the Savannah River between Sadlers Creek and Baker Creek State Parks. Its on Lake Russell and there are lots of nice wooded campsites on the lake. The restrooms were clean and have showers. There is a day use area, hiking trail, boat ramp and park office w/ gift shop. The camp sites had gravel and are nicely maintained w/ water, electric, fire pit and picnic table. They are spaced far enough apart that most offer some privacy. There are quite a few campsites that offer gorgeous views of the lake. BTW there is no waterfall in Calhoun Falls

We stayed in the primitive section, T1. T1 is very large, more private, & great views. It's 300 paces from the parking lot. Definitely a hike-in site. Picnic table is very dilapidated. T0 is also nice with more privacy. T6-8 are easiest access, but no privacy. T7 could launch canoe. Only 1 set of bathrooms for 14 tent sites, with no shower. You can purchase small firewood bundles from the park store, but we brought our own.

My wife and I have got 6 kids and have taken them all camping since they were young. Some of the greatest memories we have (and them) are of our camping trips. Playing games, hiking on the trails, or just sitting around a campfire ? laughing with each other, nothing better. Over the past 8 years we have not been able to go due to life in general. With our youngest son now 13 years and hearing about all the camping trips from his brothers and sisters we want to ensure he had the same experience. So we found this state park mainly due to it having an available spot on the dates we could go. This was a hidden gem. We tent camp and prefer walking in sites. The site we had was next to the lake and quiet. The park is huge and has a lot of things to do. A day use area with swimming, tennis, beach volleyball, BBQ areas, boat access and fishing or you can just hang out on your site and relax. The park is clean and well kept. My son loved it and is already asking when we can go back. If you enjoy tent camping and want a nice park this is the place. Also we did look at the RV/tent sites and they are nice spots as well. So if you are looking to make memories that no one will soon forget, all you need is a ⛺ , your family, and a nice place to visit. Calhoun State Park is a great place to make this happen.

This was an awesome park with awesome views! Park rangers were super nice as was the camp host! The kids loved camping in a tent, roasting hot dogs, smores, and swimming in the lake! They even caught a few small fish with a net! Facilities were very clean.

We had an awesome time! The campsite could not have been more perfect! The view was amazing! Clean facilities! Thanks Ranger Michael for helping us and checking back in with us after a little mishap with another guest in our campsite! The boys loved swimming in the lake on the beach and at the campsite! It was their first time camping in a tent! Fire roast hot dogs oh so good! Our stay was just not long enough!

Enjoyed a wonderful time at Calhoun Falls State Park. We had a pavilion rented for $47 right on the water. The location was close to the bathroom within walking distance of the park as well as the Beach area. The bathrooms were decent, did not have soap but they do have hand dryers. There is a sand beach with volleyball and the fish swim right around you. At the State Park there's also a tennis court and a basketball court and likely other things we didn't see. This particular day was not very busy so it was perfect for us to just roam wherever we wanted. Pavilions are free if they haven't already been previously rented. Parking seemed adequate and the fees were pretty good $3 for adult and $1.50 for senior or disabled. Would definitely go again and recommend for others. Plenty of campsites with grills and the water from what I could see was kind of clear which was surprising. I'm not a fan of swimming in lake water but I probably would get in this.

I love South Carolina State Parks! Calhoun Falls did not disappoint! We camped on site 61 which was a lakeside site. Our site was multi tiered which makes the site very large and unique. The RV was on one level, the picnic table and fire pit on another level and then the lake below that. The campgrounds offer water and electric hookups (no sewer). The sites in our circle were pretty wooded which gave a lot of privacy. The bathroom was close and while older was clean. The bathrooms a bit further away had a coin operated washer and dryer. There was a playground near each restroom building for people with kids. There was a walking path between campgrounds 1 and 2 and also one that cut through the woods to the camp store. There was also a trail to a fishing pier a couple of sites away from our site. The weather didn’t cooperate (the park host said his rain gage registered 5” of rain in a little less than 24 hours), but that’s typical for March. Can’t wait to go back again!

This has got to be the quietest park I have ever been to. It was completely full, but so quit and peaceful. The water is beautiful. The spots are a good size. Bathrooms were clean, which I always appreciate. The woods were so nice. Unfortunately I was not feeling well so I didn't get to explore the way I wanted to. Next time I'll hit that trail that runs by the campground and explore a bit more. There will be a next time!

Beautiful place. Our first time there for New Years. We will definitely be back during summer. Big sites, clean, rangers & store employees were very nice. Bath house do need a little update but still a top campground that we will definitely visit and recommend. Site 58 pull through was a great site.
