I live in New Jersey and do a fair amount of work in Rhode Island, when I have scrap metal I always took it to the closest yard, Exeter scrap. I have never had a problem with the young lady in the scale house, however today Dave just about threw me out. He was extremely rude and nasty. There was a time in this world when you got repeat customers based on how you treated them. From now on I will be going to Metal commodities. By the way when I'm in New Jersey I have to go to a place called United Scrap great place, but you got to carry a gun LOL

The lady in the booth screaming at me for trying to help someone take a junk atv off his trailer it was unbelievable. Maybe she’s been inhaling the dust for to long!

Lady at the scale is rude and they cut your throat. Would not recommend, drive a little further for better price

Every single time I go there the lady in the scale house screams at me for something never a pleasant experience. I feel like I could get way more money for my scrapat another scrap yard literally any scrap yard. And I wouldn't feel like I'm always in trouble.

You had better know what you are doing and exactly what you have. Any scrap yard l dont care who they are or where they are located will take advantage of the situation if possible. Believe me l have handled alot of scrap being a plumber for over 30 years. I have traded in scrap from Providence to New London and just about everywhere in between.

Lady in the scale house is awesome super sweet, the guy in the precious metals area extremely rude and condescending, said and I quote, we aren’t aiming for pennies here, well excuse me sir I am, every dollar counts. We were at the yard for well over and hour, left before they closed and he gave us flak for that, had no choice but to wait to unload due to wheel loader moving pile. I will be bringing my cast iron and light iron there but no precious metals as he was extremely rude.

Be careful the guy at the small scale in rear ( non ferrous metals, wire, etc.) , will surely rip you off. Catches attitude when you realize. Drive the extra distance and go to Providence.

If I could give it 0 stars I would. We scrap often to a different yard but went here today because it was too far to go to our home yard and we were appaled by the way they do things here. Female attendant is rude and condescending to younger folks (not a good look at all) and kept pushing to give us light iron price for all our heavy. She rushed us to get moving and berated us for leaving 1 plastic bottle in her yard before I even had a chance to pick it up (so I left it there I don't care) threw everything she had to say back at her after seeing what kind of person she is. Ugly ugly ugly. The level of shadiness at this yard is ridiculous, and you should only go here of you want to get scammed. We will NEVER be coming back. Her sign in front of her weigh station said "The witch is in" - change that W to a B and it'll be perfect!

Places terrible ripped me and my buddy off cuz they knew we were new at us put in aluminum with the raw iron the lady in the booth was very rude very bad customer service would never go there again and she accused us of stealing stuff and asking us if we drop somebody off at the top of the road place is terrible don't go there

Woman at scale was extremely rude to my son who had never been there before and needed a direction. Will take our business elsewhere next time. Extremely unprofessional

Customer service was terrible, both workers I had to deal with were extremely rude and they tried to take my copper and dump it into there pile before making me an offer (which was low balled to say the least) seeing as tho I was a young guy I don’t know if they were trying to take advantage of me but I did not end up selling them my copper and I definitely will not be back

Get someone else to run your small scale in back building, Rude (freak). Felt like he was ripping me off. Scale said 107pounds . He saying 70 pounds?? Oh you caught me he stated. Weirdooo... Left feeling ripped off.

Most of the time I've had good experiences with this place, but felt ripped off last time I was there.the lady in the front very nice, guy back by small scales very rude and not professional..told me not to talk to him because I should have gotten there earlier and they were about to close and he wanted to get done and go home..

I usually have a good experience, but today I was paid $0.35 a pound for aluminum and after calling around people are paying $0.60 and up. Live and learn

Great place to scrap. Prices vary with market. Friendly receptionist at scale, very professional. Scrapped an elevator that was very heavy.

The lady working the weigh in is a nice lady but these people rob you and will pay you for the cheapest metals out there.. I had at least 300 lbs of scrap I brought here with all different types of metals probably should've gotten 150 or more they weighed it all in as way less than the amount I had and I got $35 2nd time I brought a trailer with me same thing.. got $35.. in my opinion between loading it all up driving it there and unloading it isn't worth $35... seems to me like no matter how much you bring you won't see more than $30.. only reason for 2 stars is because it's well organized and the lady is very nice plus she's got a really cute dog. Other than that 1 star I'd give 3 stars if the place were closer to me.

Would like to know if hours of operation changed. Since we've been there a couple of Saturdays in different times of day and it's been closed. Any updates?

Excellent service!! The woman at the scale (sorry I didn't catch your name) was the sweetest and most helpful!!! Excellent first time experience! Thank you so much!

The female attendant was really nice and accommodating. My first time there and will not be my last.

This is the second time I ever dropped off scrap metal. The first time (different location) they expected me to know the routine and were rude when I didn't know what to do. This place was excellent! Easy to get to and the employees were all nice and informative. They gave clear instructions from start to finish. It was easy to do & I walked away with more $ than I thought I would get. They even have a large area that you can purchase items from (hello future art projects!). I will definitely come back here!!

Great rates, excellent up to date scales, and Cindy is great. Best prices within 50 miles of me.

Very nice crew onsite, and I felt comfortable with the weighing process being honest and straightforward.

I was able to make some money off items I was attached to in my yard. 1. Beat up leaking aluminum boat I've had since I was in 6th grade. 2. Cast iron frames for a bench that I was never going to restore. 3. 40 lbs of lead that I had no need for.

Same as Abe...no clear communication. I had most of it separated and asked a few times if what I had on the scale was all the same category and was told oh yah sure then was lowballed on the material. Some was even separated in the computer for two different categories with two different weights but only was all weighed together and the second weight was a guess NOT in my favor! WEASLE!!! On the other hand Cindy at the iron scales is very straight forward!

I usually buy metal at this yard, I do not sell to them. They have interesting stuff that I enjoy browsing through. I bought a lawn tractor for parts and when I got it home and tried it out, it started right up! I have made several projects with the metal such as angle iron, sheets, etc. Cindy is usually pleasant but very busy. I live up the road and I'm happy that they are close by. The Yard is well organized and the prices seem fair. Have fun!

Not very pleased. Scrap was pre sorted and the guy operating the scale made no effort to differentiate or announce what the metal was being rung up as. Clean aluminum tubing and bar was rung up as dirty aluminum sheet. 2 Lexus aluminum rims were rung up as dirty (tires on)... But they didn't have tires on them and were spotless (blatantly obvious). Did not like how there were two guys running the weighing operation, one guy said what to put on the scale and the guy behind the counter logged the weights. It was not clear at all how they tared the containers either. No straightforward communication between them resulted in me getting a receipt for incorrect metals classifications after they had already been moved out of the way. It's a petty amount of money that was lost but it's just bad practice for a scrap yard. If you've got a big haul, be prepared to define want you are expecting, because they'll bump it down a grade and won't tell you until it's too late.

If I could rate it less I would. Word to the wise and a warning, if your scrap is larger than 4'x18" they will consider it "unprepared metals" and you will lose out on $$. I went there with a half ton of #1 steel. There was 35, maybe 50lbs TOPS of dirt in the load. Scrapyard attendant Cindy B decided it was 125lbs of dirt and deducted it accordingly. I accidentally left a milk crate on the ground with a claw hammer, crow bar and an 8" cats claw pry bar. I went back and told Cindy I left the 3 tools there. She starts off with "I paid you for those" then says "I only saw you with the hammer and cats claw." I said to her listen, if you want the dollar back for them I'll give it to you. AND theres no way you only saw me with those 2 tools because the hammer and crow bar were sticking out of the milk crate, the cats claw was lying flat. If anything you only saw the hammer and crow bar. And how would I know those 3 tools were lying right next to each other if I didnt just accidentally leave them there? She said "if it's that important then take them." Like gee, thanks lady. Don't come here.

Just left and will never come back or refer anyone! Im a master plumber master pipe fitter I had #1 #2 copper and brass . they decidee to pay me for #2 copper only and dirty brass ! I personally sorted the scrap myself ! So I calculated it out and was shorted approx $25 ! Im assuming because I look young they figured they could take advantage of me !

Great scrap yard. You just have to know what kind of metal you have and keep it seperated, they are all different prices. Woman at booth scale is very fair and firm. I am sure she gets grief from some customers but she is very nice and knows the business. The only yard i use.
