What clients say about Forksville’s Big Mike’s Steaks & Hoagies in Forksville (PA)

The cheesesteak was good but honestly no better than anywhere else I’ve been in PA. The price is outrageous. 2 hoagies, one cold and one hot, for $40. No sides, nothing. They charge a fee to use a credit card which we didn’t know until we got there and had no cash on us. The cold hoagie didn’t taste like much, mostly just tasted like cheese. We won’t be back solely for the credit card fee jacking up the prices, if restaurants don’t want to pay for credit cards they just shouldn’t accept them.

Loved everything about this place! What a gem! Their cheese steaks are the best, and I would highly recommend the dirty Jersey fries. Clean, friendly, fast!

A small shop with big flavor, excellent table service, and picturesque setting! Big Mikes is everything you want to discover. I don't know why you would stop anywhere else!

Located right next to the Forksville Covered Bridge in Sullivan County, Big Mike's is a friendly little restaurant that serves really great sandwiches & fries. As an added treat vintage sodas & candy are also available for sale. Service was friendly and quick. We were told by the waitress though that we happened to come in during an uncustomary lull in customers. She told us right before we came there had been 50 people in the takeout line! After sampling their wonderful steak sandwiches and fries we didn't have to wonder why people lined up for them. Would definitely be worth the wait.

Still amazing quality and quantity of food after 3 years visiting! Our Pittsburgh friend said the Italian sub toasted was just like home. Puppy bowl was plentiful. So glad to have them near the campground for a great meal

Awesome food and wonderful service. I highly reccomend any of the cheeses teams! I will definitely return to try others. The outside seating was perfect on a beautiful Fall day.

Located besides one of Pennsylvania's Covered Bridges, this Cheesesteak and Hoagie shop is a great stop after a hike at World's End State Park. Staff was friendly, service was fast and the setting was beautiful. Cheesesteaks were delicious, along with the Italian hoagie we ordered! Crabby fries were tasty and crispy. We also got a puppy bowl for our little doggie, which she loved!!

Excellent food and friendly staff! Big Mike also gave amazing directions to the next covered bridge on our trip when we lost cell signal, so thank you so much!

Great place great atmosphere. I won’t get the OG Philly. I don’t think it was Cheese Wiz it had no flavor. The cheese wiz tasted like cheap cheese sauce. The fries are excellent! The view outside is awesome.

One of the best cheesesteaks around! We ordered our food and 5 minutes later the food arrived. Servers were very friendly. The meat was seasoned perfect.

I live in Philly and this is one of the best cheesesteaks I’ve ever had. The food is so good and the backyard is the perfect place to spend an afternoon or evening. We went hiking on the double run trail in Worlds End before coming—so fun. They even have vegetarian and vegan options plus a dog and a kids menu.

Even on a busy holiday like the 4th of July, this small town, hidden gem delivers. By far, my favorite spot for a Cheesesteak sub in the region. Perfect ratio of meat, cheese, bread, and veggies (with the lettuce on top, as it should be). Big Mike's, hands down, has the best Philly Style Cheesesteak in this area, including in town.

Had to just try as i have “sampled” quite a few “Philly Cheesesteaks”. I like garlic so I really liked the Dean Martin. My co sampler had the OG on a seeded he said really liked it. I wish I had ordered the seeded roll also. Very good especially since it’s 3 hrs to Philly.

Wow! Absolutely one of the best cheese steaks I’ve had in a long time. Super soft hoagie roll with just the right amount of onions and a whole lot of cheese. Simply spectacular. ?? Cheese fries were pretty good too. They must have put the cheese on the fries in layers cause usually the fries on the bottom have no cheese. That simply wasn’t the case here. It was definitely worth the 200 mile round trip for lunch today.

It had been a few years since my last visit, and I was thrilled to discover that Big Mike's children have taken over the business, continuing to honor their amazing father’s legacy! We made the trip on bikes, which turned into a 5-hour ride, and it was absolutely worth it for the delicious steak sandwiches. If you're in the area and searching for a fantastic restaurant, I highly recommend giving this place a try.

Great place for cheesesteaks. Mike is so nice and we chatted about music while checking out. We got the Dean Martin cheesesteaks which has a garlic butter sauce and sharp aged provolone. The menu was a little misleading to me at first because it says there's a "butter" sauce on the DM sandwich, but it was the same garlic butter sauce as was on the sweet potato fries side (called Garlic Sweets). So just know that it's a garlic butter sauce on the DM and not just a butter sauce. Really great food and service!

Big Mike's is definitely worth making a stop for if you're in the area. Very close to World's End State Park and not too far from Rickett's Glenn, makes a perfect excuse to go for a little scenic drive to charming Forksville! Big Mike's is located right next to a beautiful covered bridge and scenic view of the river and mountains. Absolutely stunning location in a quaint town, they have plenty of outdoor seating to enjoy the views. The store itself is a mix of general store, gift shop, and restaurant. The staff was extremely friendly and Big Mike himself was there serving drinks! I would absolutely stop back again next time we are camping in the area.

Family run genuine Philly Cheesesteak place. Food and service are top notch. Award winning, in fact! Indoor and outdoor seating with Puppy bowls for your pet to enjoy. This is a friendly place to enjoy a meal.

This place is an awesome spot to stop and grab a bite when you’re out for a ride. The food was great and the service was just as good. You can also sit outs by the water and enjoy the view while you eat your food. Plus it’s always nice to see some of PA’s many covered bridges. If you get up to this area. I highly recommend you stop in and check it out. You won’t be disappointed.

Less than a five minute drive out of Worlds End State Park, we were thrilled to find a spot that offers a great menu, and excellent food. (Their cheesesteaks are awesome!) The general store wasn't accessable, as they focused their attentions on their take out service. Staff were friendly and taking appropriate safety precautions. Their large outdoor seating by the creek made for a comfortable experience, and offered nice atmosphere. Next time we're in the area, we will be stopping again.

Saw the covered bridge and had to stop. Thought there was an actual store, but looked like just a place to order some food and ice cream. Just used the jiffy John and took some pictures. Cool stop anyways.

This place is outstanding. You couldn't pick a better setting, and these folks took the high road with all of the COVID restrictions and made it work. General merchandise can be purchased at the window, and they also had a tent outside. Order at the window, and then pick up at another window on the other side of the building. All food is in to-go packaging..they have plenty of picnic bench seating around the premises, but the prime spots are by the covered bridge..the food was delicious. Folks were super friendly. Masks are required when unable to social distance..this place is almost as good a reason to visit Worlds End State Park, as it is to visit the park itself. I can't wait to go back!

Definitely a worthy visit! My partner and I ordered breakfast and it was absolutely delicious and affordable. We instantly ordered the s'mores french toast....how could we resist!? Melted chocolate and marsh-mellows cascading over fluffy french toast...every hungry camper's dream! We also ordered sausage, bacon, eggs, and a biscuit slathered in gravy for much-needed energy! It definitely was a flavorful visit!

A nice rustic store with a restaurant operated in the back. The cheese steak was absolutely delicious. Great flavors, soft warm bread, and a good amount of meat inside especially for the price. Definitely a legitimate cheese steak. Service was fantastic. The waitress was prompt and handled all my questions and requests very nicely. Food came fairly fast as well. My only criticisms are that I wish it were served cut in half and it was a bit greasy so the bread fell apart underneath but it's a cheese steak, that happens. The garlic butter might not have helped that, but it really made a difference in taste so I wouldn't say take that off.
