Our experience with Hammers’ Towing has been nothing short of a nightmare. They unlawfully detained our commercial truck, trailer, and cargo without performing a tow our driver was instructed to drive the unit to their facility after a minor roadside issue. No tow no lien. But that didn’t stop them from attempting to extort us for over $5,000.
Initially, they quoted $1,500 for “recovery,” then inflated the price with no explanation, while refusing to release our equipment. Even worse, we have reason to believe their mishandling caused a hazardous spill, which was cleaned up by state-authorized hazmat teams, not them yet they still tried billing us for it.
We are now forced to involve law enforcement, attorneys, and regulatory agencies (PennDOT, PUC) just to get our legally-owned property released.
This company is a textbook example of predatory towing, price-gouging, and abusing their position. Trucking companies, drivers, and carriers stay far away.
We will be pursuing full legal action and filing complaints with every relevant authority.
DO NOT TRUST Hammers’ Towing.
I really like the knowledgeable staff at this garage. They're very friendly, very helpful they get you in at the last minute when you're in need. I always get good reliable service here and I recommend them to everybody.
Hammers provided a winch out for an oversize/overweight tractor and trailer. Trailer was a mobile boiler unit that had sank into the ground and froze after sitting for around a year. Combined weight was around 90,000 lbs. Service was provided within 1 hour of calling their dispatch office.
After not being able to drag the trailer out with the tractor alone and spinning tires in the frozen ground, one of the tractors drive tires came off the bead. Hammers also sent a service truck to repair the tire on scene.
Service was prompt and got me back on the road. I would recommend their service to anybody in the area. Both the operator and technician were friendly and professional.

Wonderful experience. I hit a deer the previous evening in NY and a broken lens rubbed and cut my serpentine belt while driving back to NC. They were quick with the tow and put me in a bay 2 right away. Verified no extra damage so I can make it back home and replaced the belt, and went above and beyond to secure the deer damage so I can make it home. They were very friendly and excellent with their service. I will keep them in my contacts for future reference. I highly recommend them. The picture of the naked man in the wrecker was from a hacker. Google has yet to remove it for them.
Good place to go, but prices are pretty high. I had my oil changed, tires rotated, and balanced, and the price was $147!!! Which I thought was a bit crazy.
I was from out of town visiting my In-Laws when my car broke down and needed a tow. My family from Pottsville recommend Hammers Towing. I called them and they were there in a timely manner and very polite. Their Tow equipment was nice and clean and they took good care of my car. There price was only $200 which is with in reason.
I have called this business like l have called other businesses before them and all of them provided an estimate for the towing except this business l called and the guy was extremly rude and arrogant, and said we don't give them and hung up. Extremely rude and unprofessional.
Mark was very greedy and rude. Charged my daughter $500$ for a 1/2 mile tow. When she couldn't afford it he insulted her. That's $1000 per mile.. When my wife broke down a week later we called someone else and it cost 175$ for a 15 mile tow. This guy is a thief!!
$750 charge for moving me 6ft..on 2/22/21 my semi truck was on an icy rd..called hammers and told them my drive wheels are spinning and need to be moved a few ft...I was 4 miles away from their garage,the tow came, tied a chain to my truck and moved me a few feet and I was ok, I drove up the road to wait for the tow guy (Dwayne or dwyer) to pay him and he said it was $750...I would hate to know how much it'll be if he actually had to hook up my truck and tow it...probably 2k for tow, 1k to remove drive axle and $125 per feet...if you're ok with these prices,please call hammer towing
Awful, unprofessional. The woman I spoke to arranged to have someone meet me at their Ravine location to take my payment and release my car, which had been in an accident. Later on she called me and said if I have a chance to make payment prior to picking up, try to do so and if not, no big deal. No one showed to release my car. And the rude man who answered the phone (not the same person I spoke with at the Minersville location earlier that day) stated he wouldn't be releasing the car until payment was made over the phone BEFORE picking it up. Call me crazy but I'm not paying that kind of money before I have my vehicle! Walked onto the lot to check my vehicle out since I was there. Key was sitting right inside of the vehicle which still ran and drove. Considering there was nothing but a cheap masterlock securing the gate, I'm not terribly comfortable with that either. If you have ANY other options, I suggest you use them!!!
Great people had my Jeep in for inspection, I usually do my own work but I've been busy so had them do it. It was done in a timely manner and the price was right excellent service job well done.
Had a truck completely freeze up in a snow storm, had another company suggested for me to call Hammers to tow it. They were very friendly, got to my driver/truck pretty quickly, took the truck to their shop for the night to warm up. We still had an issue with it when we first left their shop, they immediately came to us and got us going again. I recommend Hammers Towing in Pottsville!
We use Hammers for recovery of our Trucks when we have issues. The service is top notch. Mark is a great guy to work with and operates a respectable business. I left with one of my tractors to get my drive and trailer after I hung up with Hammers. Mark beat me to my driver and by the time I got to the site he already had my Truck disconnected from the trailer and on the hook ready to go. I reccomend them for anyone who needs towing service.
Picked up my Cadillac CTS within 1 hour of calling, service was good, Dave was very nice and really knew his stuff when it came to car repairs, Hammers has been in business for well over 40yrs and do a great job..
