My review is in response to Mr Jackson J that complained about the type of metals and information he was given. This company is not locally owned. They are owned by Conservit out of Maryland and therefore have many rules they have to follow given to them by "headquarters" so if you want to complain to someone, complain to them. Thank you.
My experience here while trying to scrap 200lbs of nearly 3000lbs of range lead was a disaster. Our range lead is extracted every 5 years. This time we had to find another buyer so I started calling around. The secretary I spoke with quoted me a fair price for “range lead” at .55 lb. Not over the top but not under valued either. Hearing her reference my lead as “range lead” I was comfortable driving a hour there to meet and arrange for the rest to be picked up or delivered.
I get there and set it on the scale only to be told that it would be wheel weight price. Why? Because there was some loose dirt that he saw. No different then scrapped in past but there was dirt so I took it back and went to rinse it off again. Returned back and same scale master once again says it’s wheel weight. Why this time? He told me because there was brass wrapped around the lead. He was referring to the copper jackets that range lead happens to have. Hence the name range lead. Then he goes on further to tell me that the buyers of this kind of lead pay less then wheel weight lead. Now he was making up crazy things. I became angry quick after now being told same thing. Remind you that the price difference between hard and soft lead are significant. Almost 80% less for what I was told that morning. So after looking for the secretary I had spoke to and failing to get any direction from the scale master I exploded. Employees like this will destroy what’s already a very competitive business and destroy it. Never should employees look to deny. Look to buy!! That’s money lost. Put in the effort to take in materials even if a little elbow grease is needed to make it happen. That’s why your there! To make money and not turn it away.
So now as I’m leaving out comes the secretary from out of nowhere. Looks at the range lead and looks at me to call me a scam artist and that if I don’t leave she will call the cops. This lady was such a child and acting like anything she should. Then proceeds to be a liar and tell me she quoted clean lead and this lead was not worth anything. I mean she acted like I wasn’t the one that I had the conversation with. While she screamed and made threats I struggled to get my lead loaded back up and I left to never return.
To the owner of this company.. If you want to contact me directly that would be fine. As a owner there are things you should know that I can bring to your attention. If not then good luck because these employees will not allow any growth and my projection there is closed in couple years if there isn’t change. Oh, I happen to have my MBA also and have several successful start up companies under my direction.
Clean convenient place in Perry County to recycle your metal. Most light stuff can be dropped in the garage area with several guys there to help you unload.
It you know how to seperate & take apart items to recycle, this center is very welcoming... Staff in house for seperated items are helpful. Shredder scrap junk drop is easy. Follow the posted directions, or just ask. Very helpful.
Been going there for over 8 years always had great experience there and loved it but today seemed like everyone was rude and not as helpful and honest as they used to be and I felt like I've got ripped off ,like supporting local but am willing to drive a farther distance in the future if it happens again.
Most recycling places that I've been to in Harrisburg they have the rudest people I ever met but this recycling place Ravens the people were extremely nice and extremely friendly I would drive a hundred miles out of my way to use this place and I recommend that anybody that reads this should do the same you would be very impressed with the employees and how nice they are thank you Jim Grant
The staff was very helpful. We don't take things to the scrapyard very often so they helped us segregate different metals so that we could get more money.
Love this place! Haven't been there since renovations houses 6+ years ago... Live few hours away but now in area to do so e clean outs! You'll be seeing us again! Great friendly staff... Inside and workers outside! Great work!!
Nice staff. They were able to take a variety of metals. I was a little surprised that I didn't get more money but I am glad it can be reused/recycled rather than going into a landfill.
As busy as Raven's is, the yard supervisor took time out of his busy schedule to come visit my residence to lay eyes on what I needed to scrap. He did this to help me get exactly what I needed to ready the scrap to move and to help me spend the least amount needed to move it. I really appreciated the personal visit and the knowledge shared. Highly recommend Raven's Recycling for any of your scrapping needs!
I absolutely COULD NOT BELIEVE how absolutely Disrespectful the people at the check out were.. I had already unloaded my metal, went around to the door and they announce to me inside that even though they are behind glass that they cannot give me my money unless I put a mask on.. I proceed to tell them how I have a legitimite medical condition and am excused from wearing one due to past serious trauma in the military.. They don't even care! I explain to them that the law clearly states: people must wear one UNLESS they have a medical condition.. Well they say: that's their policy, this is ours! No mask no service! But then add: We have a mask if you want, Well, if there really is a terrible pandemic then why would I accept a face covering that was just handed to me between the hands of two separate people?! (Plus they weren't going to just give it to me, they forced me to PURCHASE IT!) This was pure and clear discrimination! State law is clear: people should wear one UNLESS they have a medical condition making wearing one impossible.. I do! I wasn't let check out until my wife heard me and came in and she did it for me with her ID.. But I'm thinking of literally sueing the place for discrimination and psychological abuse! I will never go back in there again! Not a single OZ of respect for me at the service counter.. Even though we were separated by bulletproof glass it wasn't good enough. Fair Warning to anyone else, don't expect respect at this place and if you're unable to wear a pointless mask expect them to attemt to steal your metals if you won't buy a overpriced mask from them.
