DONT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE. Had a tech named Sam take a look at my car but when repairs were denied there was irreversible damage done to my vehicles cv axle. Steve refuses to acknowledge his shop’s mistake and now I’m stuck with a car needing more work than when it got to his shop.
S & H Automotive did a great job working on my truck. I have been taking my vehicles here for about 5 years. They are very honest, reliable, do quality work, and have very reasonable prices. Great local garage and would highly recommend them!

Steve Stehman and his crew are the best. Five stars doesn't come close to covering it. I've done business with Steve for 20 years. Owning a box of tools doesn't make you a mechanic. S&H Auto is the best there is in Lancaster County, PA. When I was younger, I did a lot of wrenching. I used to work on high performance cars. Steve is the best there is.

First and last time going to S&H. Was told brake drum lip required grinding down to inspect brakes. Told them to turn back the adjusters a bit and all used drums have rust lip on the edge (most of the time a screw driver rubbed around takes care of it). Plus it is not possible to grind the lip without first removing it, aka backing off the adjuster a bit to remove drum. Anyone with automotive mechanical experience knows how absurd their statement is. Then they said most adjusters are seized, and when I told them I clean and lubricant mine when I do the brake work, they admitted mine adjusters were not seized. They tried to dazzled me with this and that (I'm sure this is what they do to make you feel good about being ripped off), but $45 for something that didn't need done seemed fair to them. Plus charging $33.00 for a exempt (under 5k miles) emissions sticker also seems fair to them. Most shops charge 1/2 or less for the $4.15 fee they pay and the time to do the report. I absolutely dread going for yearly state inspection because of places like this! Can't wait for the "sorry about your bad experience " and the B$justification.
Got a loaner car to use. He's thorough, checks w me before doing work not originally asked for. I believe he cares about the customer, not only the vehicle.
Steve is always great to work with. He went above and beyond by helping provide a loaner vehicle when my car was in the shop and my wife and I were trying to figure out the logistics of our transportation situation. He’s thorough, straightforward and will give you the full picture of your vehicle with things to be mindful of to ensure you get the longest life out of your car.
Great mechanic!! I was in and out in an hour for emissions/ inspection. They told me an estimated life of my tires and breaks so I have an understanding of how much life is left in them. Overall fast, trusting service!!
I have brought all of my cars to S & H for past 20 years. They have serviced my Volvo, Honda and now Jeep with excellent care. I have recommended them to several friends with complete trust that they too will have the same excellent service that I have received. The dealerships could learn some valuable lessons of honesty, courtesy, and integrity, by spending time with Steve, and his crew, at S&H.
Steve and his team did a great job. Made recomindations for new tires, and suggested preventive Maintenance for future work. He was able to replace a part that was on order at Chapman for 3 months. Will be taking my car to S@H for
all future work.

They do a good job on the vehicles. I never had a problem. They're friendly as well. They can tow a vehicle in as well; they did it for me on short notice once.

Steve and his team are very knowledgeable about every vehicle I take there for service. I am a contractor with one vehicle I use for my business. They keep it in top running condition. It has a lot of hard drivin miles on it but they keep it running like new. I will not take any of my vehicles anywhere else for service. One word to describe S&H Auto. TRUST
First time I dropped my car off, I never received a call to come pick it up, I had to call them. The second time I took my car in to have my brake calipers fixed. Less than a week later my brake pressure gives out on the highway and almost caused a wreck. Thankfully I could use my handbrake to pull off to the side. Never coming here again.
Once again I could not be more satisfied with the high quality, professional service work I just received at S+H Auto. They keep better records of my 4 vehicles then I do and their attention to details is excellent. I would highly recommend this repair shop to anyone. Thank you S +H
Stopped in because of a friends suggestion to see about possibly having these folks take care of our business fleet services. Didn’t get a chance to set anything up with the shop because I was looked down on for talking to one of the mechanics. The customer service seems not to be one of there strong suits. What a shame came highly recommended. Wouldn’t want to share our nearly $8000 a year in vehicle repairs with the person I assume to have been the owner, who shooed me out the door.
Took my car to S and H for an inspection right after purchasing it since the car was owned in TN and did not require a PA inspection. I was told my car needed turn signal bulbs replaced and hydraulic brake hoses replaced as well as an oil change at my request. They told me they’d call me once the repairs were finished so I could pick up the car to go to work. I did not receive that call. I dropped the car off at about 10 am and did not get the car until about 6:30; I started work at 5 that day. I was left a note saying that the headlight needed work, they failed to mention that the headlight was completely out. I was allowed to drive away with the inspection and emissions sticker. I returned for the headlight to be done; which was completed at no cost to me. I had a tire repaired today and the tire service I went to told me my brake hoses were leaking. Long story short, I was allowed to leave s and h with a nonfunctional headlight and leaky brake hoses despite a passed inspection and emissions sticker. I will not be surprised to find my car leaking oil. Will not be returning.
I have worked in the automotive world for 25 plus years. The family that IS S & H represent the way it SHOULD be! Not only are they the most honest of people to deal with, they know what the heck they are talking about!!! I highly recommend!
