I took my wife here for valentine meal yesterday and the food was so delicious and amazing especially the ice cream, it was our first time to eat there, I highly recommend it to anyone ?
So it has been at least 2 years since my family and I last ate at Milky Way restaurant, and we were excited to have what we thought would be a great meal, since in the past we always enjoyed their meals and have never had any complaints. We only live about 15 mins from the restaurant, so we called ahead and figured that by the time of us getting there, food would be hot, and still at a decent temp by the time we got home to eat. For the order of 3 meals and 3 shakes, spent $53, which I thought was ridiculous, but, didn’t make a fuss about it. Paid for our food, got our food and left. By the time we got home, our food was cold, the fries were rubbery like they had been sitting all day, the chips that I ordered were undercooked, whatever oil/grease that’s being used to cook the food might need changed because it gave the fries and the chicken strips a very bad taste. The price that’s being charged for the shakes is overpriced and needs adjusted, because the kids size that’s given isn’t comparable to the price. Overall, we thought that we were going to have a great night have comfort food from a place we enjoyed, but was utterly disappointed in the end. WILL NOT BE GOING BACK, WOULD RATHER GIVE TO ANOTHER LOCAL RESTAURANT WHO HASN’T DISAPPOINTED US YET.
What was initially supposed to be a dine-in experience for me and my fiancé quickly turned into a takeout experience and was EXTREMELY close to being an experience of us not dining here AT ALL due to the LACK of decency and professionalism from the ENTIRE front of house staff.
We’re not from this area, so we have no idea what any of the menu items are, especially since the physical menus and menu board fail to describe multiple items. We found that if we ordered online, we could easily see the item ingredients and customize our orders, so we chose the easy route and ordered online. While waiting inside the store, we were pleasantly greeted by the grill/back of house staff. The front of house staff? One rolled her eyes when we told her we needed time to look over the menu and another huffed at me when I asked her to explain the ingredients of a menu item. After we decided to order online instead, since we felt that the waitresses seemed inconvenienced by doing their jobs, the front of house staff then proceeded to make snide and disrespectful comments about our order.
This business is lucky that we didn’t have the time to wait for a refund since travel left us a little low on cash. The owner/manager SERIOUSLY needs to think about replacing all three of whoever the three girls working register/phones were (shift was 3:56PM on Friday, January 23).
Grew up eating here. Worked for owner, then owners son and have been a customer for forever. I know things must change and they have here. But tonight was the end for me. The fries are different. Rolls are different. Hamburger doesn't taste the same. Peanut butter flavoring is less Peanut butter tasting and runnier. But ok. Then tonight I went to get a deep fried chicken steak sandwich. It was basically a high dollar chicken patty. This was NEVER how it was before. You could see the strings of chicken before. This was definitely a pressed patty. And tasted as such. I know things change but when something ain't broke, you shouldn't fix it either. The milky way is officially gone as far as I'm concerned.
We were in the area so we decided to swing by for lunch. Definitely was not what we were expecting. Food served on paper plates and Styrofoam cups. Portions are super SMALL with high prices. We left still hungry. Fries were cold and hard. Not pleased with this visit. We will definitely look past this place next time we come through!
Love the food,the Galaxy Burger delicious friendly staff and my favorite was the strawberry shake. the place has a old time dinner feel. Can't wait for next visit.
My pregnant wife lives off of the beef and onion hoagie! If it ever went off the menu she would totally cry herself to sleep for weeks. I’m not kidding, she was mortified when the business was being sold and closed for a while. She’s keeping this business alive from craving it allllll the time. Impeccable hometown vibe. Only bad thing about this place is it isn’t open 24/7.

She was very polite and professional, courteous and a breathe of fresh air from the norm of what Ive been experiencing at restaurants! Milky Way is a great place to get some food and ice cream. Its nostalgic to me as I used to go there as a kid with family after our fishing trips. I love to see that it is still going and being run well.
Used to love this place. Today, however, changed my mind. Placed an order at 530 pm, 2 turkey hoagies, was told it would be 10 mins. 45 mins later, I received my order. One hoagie wasn't even wrapped completely. Hoagie roll was harden by the time I got home. Very disappointed.
This little diner tucked away off the highway is a real treasure! Family-run and cozy, the cheeseburger patties are juicy to the point of bursting, and the freshly made soft serve ice cream is so silky it dances on your tongue! The banana boat is retro and stunning, and the shrimp basket is fried to a golden crisp. The turkey sandwiches are made from hand-torn turkey breast! There's a line at meal times, but the blonde lady's ability to tease while ordering makes waiting for a table fun. After ordering at the counter, you'll find a vintage card table to sit in, and you'll know you're in the right place when you see the neighboring table's five-minute discs of chili bisque. Missing this place on a road trip? Your stomach will cry!
After many years of being out of the area, my wife and I stopped here on our way home from camping nearby. We were excited to see they were open and treated ourselves to some sundaes! The soft serve and toppings were great, and the service was thoughtful too by bringing us water as well. We will be back again soon!
Nice family run diner. Delicious made to order food. Recommend the cheeseburgers. Delicious soft serve ice cream. Order at the counter, and they bring the food to your table. Very friendly and helpful employees. Reasonable prices.
We've been here several times, and the food and the service have always been good here. They were closed up for a while, and I'm glad to see them open again.
The roast beef sandwich was amazing. I ate it so fast I didn't get pictures of it. The chicken sub was also a good choice. Dessert was a wonderful banana split.
This place was hopping, long line and fast service! Food was great and served hot. Had a Galaxy burger and it was wonderful, with curly fries. Also ice cream was the finishing topping!
Very good little diner. Reasonably priced and a lot of options. The chili is delicious and the turkey sandwiches are real turkey - not thinly sliced lunch meat. Cozy environment and friendly staff.
Milky Way is my family's favorite place to get burgers. Everything is made fresh and it's inexpensive. The food is amazing and their ice cream flavors change a lot so you can always try something new! The girls behind the counter are very friendly and work really hard. Even when they are super busy you still get your food in a reasonable amount of time. This big box of food was under $40 and will feed 5 people!
Found this hidden little gem while on a road trip. This is a hopping little restaurant that has delicious burgers, French fries, shrimp baskets and awesome soft serve ice cream. The banana split was one of the best I've had in a long time
This is a very busy place so don't be discouraged if there is a line the food is that good and well worth the wait. The staff is super friendly and upbeat.
The best cheeseburger ? omg food so good there pineapple Sunday off the chain really all there sweets r the very best I have been going there all my life u can't go wrong ? took my sons as babies growing up now we take my grandbabies
If you find yourself in the neck of the woods ? around Fort Loudon or Saint Thomas you have to stop at this classic burger joint. My favorite is the cheeseburger ? basket with chips. Their fried chips are really great, they give the potato ? more surface area which results in a crispier snack. You also can't leave the Milky Way Restaurant without grabbing ??? dessert. I opted for the soft-serve Black Raspberry Malted Milkshake! After a long day of snowboarding at Whitetail Ski Resort, this was the perfect stop to fill up. With a friendly staff, that serves hot food and cold ice cream, there's no doubt why Milky Way Restaurant is a staple of the surrounding area.
Value is what makes this place unique. The menu was full of homestyle items that made ordering easy. Will stop by again for a burger and to try their ice cream.
Great place to stop for ICE CREAM ? after leaving Cowans Gap State Park #CowansGap . Its a hit and miss with the quality of food however, sometime great...others ummm not so much. Staff always friendly and service is wonderful. Would be a 5 star review if the food was better, any type of chicken is the questionable item but well worth a stop for a great ?cone!
What a delight. Old skool style. Menu (steamer = sloppy Joe), booths, giant sundaes. I felt so comfortable and full. The young people who waited on us couldn't have been more pleasant.
Full parking lot, busy road. (no handicap parking?)
Can't wait to go back!
Get the flat fries! Maryland crab soup in a mug: yum! Two people ate totally full for $10 and change! (ymmv)
