I took my Nissan in because it was making a noise in the transmission and jerking hard. I was told that noise is normal when it comes to those transmissions, the only option I have would be to replace it. It just didn't make any sense so I took it to a different shop and they did a proper diagnose, turns out it just needed transmission fluid and the noise and jerking issue went away, it feels brand new now. Turns out i did have other options.
Great local business to deal with. Rates are reasonable and they provide excellent customer service! I’m glad to take my car here any issues. The regional manager offered to take me home and pick me up when my repair was done, which I greatly appreciated. I highly recommend their business.
They did a great job fixing up my odyssey the other day. I was making the trip home from NY to MD when someone’s debris from an accident flew underneath my car in the middle of the night. Transmission lines broke, sensor broke, etc and car had to be towed. They helped me later that day and I was able to drive home no problem. For the pricing and time they did it in, totally worth it. They are great guys and I got lucky that I broke down in that area and not anywhere else.

Good customer service is hard to find, let alone great customer service. My husband and I came desperate to emory with our car on a tow truck. Transmission fluid leaking from our vehicle. We were without any hope. We were shown so much care as we entered into the front office. Travis was so kind, took great interest in our situation. It was obvious that he had the experience that anyone in our shoes could hope for in a mechanic, he is the best. He offered us the next available time frame to check the car. He had our car's issue figured out within the hour! Ordering parts, making calls, and chipping away at the solution. Rick truly came to our rescue as well. He took the time out of his day to drive us back where we were staying. The crew together had our car fixed and ready the next day. I will never forget the experience at Emory transmissions. Truly amazing service. Our car runs as if it were just bought off the lot!! :)

Highly recommend this shop!! They are absolutely amazing! So thankful to them! Was just passing through driving back home and our transmission went on our truck. Not only did Rick take us in right away but he gave my husband a ride to our hotel and towed our utility trailer back to the shop and stored it until our truck was fixed. He did everything he could to relieve as much stress as possible during a difficult time. They kept their word on the timing of completion. Rick met us to pick it up on the weekend (when they were closed). He was also thoughtful enough to give our pup a biscuit cause he loves dogs so much. They are such a great group of people and customer service is a priority to them. The next time we are passing through Harrisburg, we will definitely be stopping by to say hello. I thought customer service was a lost art. Rick certainly proved me wrong. Some mechanics act like lawyers like they can't provide you information. Rick took his time to help explain some very helpful things to me. It wasn't a sells pitch or anything. You can tell they truly care about helping people here. Thank you, sir.
My husband and I both go to Emory Transmission on Derry street. Their prices for service and repair are very reasonable and much less expensive than the dealership. They know what they are doing and get the job done efficiently and effectively, and let us know ahead of time what any additional costs will be. Highly recommend.
Emory always does great work. Easy to schedule, they are upfront about necessary repairs and they get the job done in a timely and efficient manner. They are keeping my 197 K mile Honda Element humming!!
Battery swap, wipers, headlight restoration, tire patch, oil change, bulb swaps, brake light switch ($22 part, $134 labor), and an inspection took 4 1/2 days with a service appointment booked four days in advance. (Dropped off on Friday, so 6 1/2 days if weekend included.)
$689 work of work…and nothing really major.
Facility has six bays, but only two techs at time of writing. Privately owned vehicles are stacked up in parking lot, and they also have to service fleet vehicles for another business of the owner (Orkin). I’m guessing those get to jump the line, too.
Once they hit a stumbling block on my service…missing registration…dirty headlights…need wipers…they stop work and I went to the back of the line again. Claimed to have been called with messages left twice…but no missed calls or VM on my phone. Had to call the shop myself to find out why things were taking so long only to find out they needed approvals to do additional service. (I do trust their manager I dealt with, and left him with a credit card.)
My first visit was great, and the positive reviews left by others have paid off for Emory. However, fast forward a year and it definitely feels like they’ve outgrown their capacity. Be prepared to wait and not receive the ideal level of communication.
Finally…left with an additional warning light (VSA) activated on my dash that was not there when I brought it in. Was told that light goes on with the check engine light. This has NEVER happened before, and I was having a recurring issue with the check engine light related to moisture in fuel line after pumping/emissions for years (Emory failed the vehicle).
They do not have a probe to actually test the emissions coming from your vehicle tailpipe. Instead, they rely on onboard diagnostic equipment which may or may not be working properly or conform to the PA emission standards when it decides to generate an alert.
Extremely disappointed this go around, even with the mea culpa discount, and will not be returning. Proceed only with the highest level of patience and disposable Uber or rental income.
“Often, the brake light switch could be sticking and work intermittently. This can cause the Check Engine or ABS system warning light to come on on the dash. In some cases, brake lights may stay on all the time, or come on randomly, without pressing the brake pedal.”

I was in the process of taking it back to my old shop and end up with the same results? My neighbor told me to give them a try? What a wonderful experience my issue with my Honda are all gone. Unbelievable I’m a happy camper hey, I’ll make this short and sweet you guys did it again outstanding you fix the check engine light issue. Plus, the car is running so smooth.
When my car broke down out of nowhere and I called around trying to find a shop to help me with the transmission, Emory Transmissions East was the first place to confidently tell me they could assist with figuring out the problem and they could help me right away. They were both impressively professional and incredibly personable and had my car's issue figured out within a few hours. I was very pleased with every aspect of my interaction with them.
Rick and his team are fantastic this is an honest shop. I went in for inspection and possible suspension repair turns out I didn't need that but did have a water pump failure waiting to happen. I am very thankful I came across them and will be taking all of my vehicles to them.

In the Fall of 2022 right before the holiday season was set to begin, I was told by a local garage that my transmission needed to be replaced due to a vibration they felt when accelerating. I was quoted $5,000 to $7,000. This was terrible news. I assumed the garage was correct and was about to move forward with the repair. A friend of mine encouraged me to get a second opinion from Emory. I agreed and set up an appointment for the following week. Emory said my transmission did not need to be replaced and they recommend a simple transmission fluid change and treatment. They quoted me less than $300. I agreed and haven't had any vibrations since. Thank you Emory for your honesty and willingness to trouble shoot my problem! Well done!
Emory was upfront and transparent about all proposed and necassary repairs and costs at all times, and completed the work quickly and effectively. They got my car in and fixed on short notice. I know the cost of the work that needed done, and didn't get ripped off; Emory is a class-act. I'll be getting my vehicles serviced at Emory again.

Emory was recommended by our regular garage to diagnose and fix a leaky transmission. Rick fit us in quickly and told us up front we would need to leave the car for a day...I liked knowing that ahead of time. The tech(s) diagnosed leaky hoses and fixed the issue for less than the estimate. We had a slight issue about two weeks after the repair and Rick had me bring the car in, the mechanics checked it out, tightened the hoses and sent me on my way in an hour, free of charge since the the hoses had just been replaced. We were very pleased with the excellent customer service and highly recommend Emory East!
I Had what appeared to be a wheel bearing going out, but upon inspection at Emory, it turned out I needed a rear differential. Rick and Andy took excellent care of my vehicle, ensuring the part they got was functional and would fix the issue, and not just provide a temporary fix, as most repair shops I had used in the past would have just used any part they could find, and not take the time to find a good one. I appreciate the time and effort they put into repairing my vehicle. I would highly recommend Emory to anyone in need of reliable, friendly and affordable car repair services.

I’m the first to admit I’m not very knowledgeable about cars and I trust the team at Emory to tell me what is needed without taking advantage of me. They are a full service shop as well and from what I can tell, work on all types of cars and any age. Much better than going to a dealership!
Arrived in Hershey from out of town (5.5 hrs away). Thought I was having transmission issues in my 08 Jeep Wrangler. Called them when they opened up and they were extremely friendly. Told them what I thought was wrong with it and why and they squeezed me in immediately. Left the car with them and went about my business in town and a few hours later I get a call that in their diagnostics, they couldn't find anything wrong and explained everything they looked at in great detail. They alleviated my concerns with the car and ultimately did not try selling me on anything I didn't need (which was nothing). They could have easily said what I thought was wrong with the vehicle and sold me on that fix but instead were completely honest and great to work with. I would highly recommend!
Car Was towed in unsure of why it would not start. They looked at it immediately once it got there turns out it needed a fuel pump. They gave me my options, and a very reasonable quote. While the vehicle was there it was also determined that it had a weak starter. I promptly received another phone call with with a quote and options on how to move forward on this. I was very pleased with the work being done as quickly as it was and the price was right on time period I will definitely be back in the future
Took my 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee in for an oil change and to plug my back tire from a nail. Rick the service manager was very friendly and helpful with the process. It took less than 60 minutes for them to fix my car! Would highly recommend taking your vehicle there for any issues!
Took my 2004 Ford Taurus here for a new fly wheel and thank God Rick was honest about how bad of shape my frame was in or I wouldn't have passed inspection and would of had to put another $2,000.00 into a car that's not even worth that! Yes I have to get a new car but I could have been way more in debt if they weren't honest and just did the work I WOULD RECOMMEND EMORY TRANSMISSION EAST TO ANYONE who needs work done they are reliable, fair and honest something alot of garages lack.
