First time to this location this week, had a great experience. Staff was very helpful and able to answer all my questions. Prices for basic items are posted on their website so no surprises when you go to pay.
I wanted to share this because I thought it was absolutely stupid that I was denied a part. I'm checking now to see if that part could have been potentially used on my car. I have a 1999 Volkswagen beetle. I believe the silver one in the back did not have the right valve cover. There was another bright green Volkswagen inside of a fenced area. I walked up to the front counter and the very nice lady up front had told me that they pay extra for those vehicles so I was going to end up paying a little bit more for those parts which I was okay with. I walked up to the man that I was told to ask to open the gate and he asked me what part I wanted. I told him that I wanted the valve cover. His response to me was "oh I don't want to have a good motor torn down" I was respectful but the only thought that had crossed my mind was the name of the place is called hostetter's salvage yard. It's not an auto sales, it's not an auto shop, it's not a dealership, so why was I told that I am not allowed to tear down the motor to get the part that I need to make my car run again?? They have cut down a lot of their vehicle selection by removing a large area and putting a fence around it but they won't let me access the car for the valve cover which is the only part that I need. I have never ever been to a junkyard or salvage yard where I was denied a part because they didn't want the motor torn down. It was a waste of gas to drive all the way out there in my truck jus to be told that I can't pull a part from a car IN A SALVAGE YARD!! Good job, you lost a frequent customer that had been going there for years. I promise I'll be telling everyone to avoid that yard. I'm not sorry for that. I was genuinely irritated n you wasted my money/gas.
Cheap tow for scrapping a vehicle. ($40) This was the 2nd vehicle I've scrapped with them in a 2 year period, and the tow drivers I have dealt with were so friendly, more than I expected they would be. The scrap prices are fair, and with title in hand, the checks are cut quickly. The women in the office are also very kind. Nice little family feel and kindness everywhere. No B.S. kind of place. They have their stuff together, and you won't be waiting around for any answers. Great place to scarp! 10/10!
Lots of pros and cons. They're open days around holidays unlike another local option. But it takes so long to get unloaded due to a not so streamlined process. Also the guy weighing me jipped me a couple hundred lb by having me off the scales weighing in and on weighing out and wouldn't acknowledge he did that.
Needed a hood for my vehicle drove 50 miles fo nothing neither vehicle had a hood on it i know its do it your self removal but i would think they could atleast log what they sold. She told me t have a nice scenic ride home very unprofessional
My love coming here to recycle my metal period they'll help unload period if someones alavable. Always have good prices for the scrap metal and there Vehicle parts. And if there's something you like in the scrap pile that somebody else recycle, they'll sell it to you. Highly recommend coming here. For use tires. Car parts, And scrap metal recycling.
Took number 12 stranded copper wire in 140 lbs and they will give you "low grade cord" price. Even had number 10and some 8 in there as well. Won't be back
It's okay just make sure when you're scrapping metals you know exactly what you have because twice now I've gone in with a metal that I knew was a certain metal yet they put it down as basically a lesser scrap when I brought this up to them basically they tried to play it off like oh are you sure that's what you had just be on your p's and q's and don't be afraid to say anything
Fast, curtious, workers are very friendly and helpful to answer questions about different metals and that this metal pays more than that and that there are different grades of aluminum.
Very disappointed I drove 45 mins to get a part today and y'all ain't even open! An update online would have been great saying that the yard was closed today! Now I have to spend 160$ on a part elsewhere
I have been going to this yard for several years and I think I saw that the prices are up... Well NO they aren't I wouldn't deal there if they did.. I enjoy taking a break and chatting with the guy and gal in the office. Nice thing is they pretty much know what they have and that I like because it saves me walking!! Hey go see them and tell them the Preacher sent ya!!
My dad always goes here when he needs salvage parts and he can usually find what he needs, the service has always been good, the people are so nice. The prices have gone up recently but what are you gonna do.
i would rate zero stars if i could. i do not recommend this place to anyone, i called asking if he had a 2000 toyota sienna windshield and he said he had six right? well i drove two hours to finally get there to find out HE SUPPOSEDLY CRUSHED 4 OF THE VEHICLES AND the two left were broke. Im sure anyone else would be pissed at this a_s hole for going through all this to have them be broke and smashed. They dont seem to want your money since they dont care about what their customers want. You should at least tell someone if the vehicles are going to be crushed or if you REALLY HAVE IT OR NOT before wasting someONES time. I'll just go to johnny's u pull it since they are worth the 1-2 hour drive.
I went looking for parts and the staff was nice and friendly down to earth people I continue to go there it the best place it's my Disneyland super low prices on everything
Do NOT take your scrap metals to this place....They will rip you off on grading of your material. They consider #14 stranded copper wire as LOW GRADE cable....Didn't notice the grading until it was too late. Avoid at all costs
