The team at Midas had my car in and out in about 35 minutes for a repair that I worried might total my older car. In the end, they didn't even charge me for the issue since it was a quick fix in their eyes. I bring my car here for inspections and have always had a great experience. This was my first repair and the service was just as fantastic. Highly recommend this team!
This is my first ever google review. Midas was absolutely fantastic. I had an emergency situation with my 2006 Honda Accord on the way to moving back in to college. I was stranded in State College (thankfully) needing to get to Pittsburgh that night with a car filled to the brim with my belongings. My car had completely died with a blinking engine light indicator. It was around 4 o clock when I had the car towed to Midas and they immediately checked it out and recommended a possible fix within 30 minutes. They did the fix and continued to check it out almost until close. I was set on my way in two hours with a car that once was immovable. Luke and his colleagues were more than helpful.
My daughter encountered a stressful situation with her car breaking down while traveling through the mountains, on her way back to Pittsburgh. Luke and the team at Midas diagnosed a multi-cylinder misfire quickly, clearly explained the issue, and recommended a smart, step-by-step approach instead of jumping straight to expensive repairs. They started with replacing the spark plugs, confirmed the fix resolved the misfire, and had the car safely back on the road the same day. Honest diagnostics, no pressure, and solid communication especially appreciated given the circumstances. Couldn’t ask for better service. Highly recommend.
I had the rear brakes and rotors replaced on my Honda Accord. I asked for a quote using their online request and received one within a few hours. It was a competitive price, so I set up an appointment for a few days later. When I brought the vehicle in, they completed the job on time and charged exactly the price that was quoted. Very straight-forward, professional service with no problems, hidden costs, or upselling.
They damaged my car engine due to the negligence during a routine oil change. The manager denies his responsibility but I see you in the court! Avoid this lousy business unless you want to deal with thousands dollars car damage
I have used this Midas shop for over 20 years and have never, ever been disappointed in their service. Their prices are fair, the same excellent mechanics have worked here, and on my cars, for years. I will not go to any other garage when we are in State College, and Midas in any other location if there is one available. They are that good, and my bet is that this one is one of the best.
While in the middle of a cross-country move, we called this Midas location just up the road to look at a rear brake issue. Matt at the front desk told us to drop by, they squeezed us in, and their technician Brad had us back on the road in 2 hours. Thanks a ton!
I simply didn't understand that the reception guy asked to bring my battery. I thought I was told to bring the car in. It's a simple misunderstanding, nothing to get pissed off. I don't why he started using bad words

My company has recently moved offices and started taking our company cars to Midas for service, since it was close to the office. While the car service itself has been fine, the customer service is garbage, particularly one employee who seemingly hates his job. His entire demeanor is clear he doesn’t want to be there, and his actions are as if you are inconveniencing him before being there. Unfriendly and uninviting. I just picked up a company car from an inspection appointment. He had slapped the keys on the counter when I walked in the door, didn’t acknowledge me or make eye contact. I said “do you need anything else from me?” The reply “nope”. Realized right after I left that he never gave me the registration, insurance or the company maintenance card back. I thought maybe because he didn’t give it to me at it counter, they had put it in the car. Wrong. Overall, trash customer service, won’t be returning. And mostly definitely would never bring my personal car there.
Super honest staff. Got inspection done last year, did a great job. I came back for an intermittent noise and they reviewed the car and didn’t charge me anything when found something very small issue. Definitely going back for my next inspection.
They are amazing! I was visiting a friend in town when I heard an unusual sound from my car. Since I am not from here and needed to drive to a different state, I became worried and brought my car to them. They helped me as soon as possible.
I can say that the technical expertise here is outstanding as they quickly diagnosed and fixed the issue. Their professionalism also showed as they showed and explained to me the issue and taught me what I can do to take care of my car. I highly recommend this place as your car is in great hands. We get inspections and tires at this location and have generally been well pleased. My wife made an appointment for an oil change, I changed it to inspection and tire install and specifically told them, “ I do not want an oil change—only an inspection and tire install.” While the completed the job well (presumably) and on the day they promised, they also did an oil change. “…wanting tires and inspection?…” was on the invoice—nothing about an oil change. The envelope for after hours drop off only had inspection and tire installation. I understand the cause of the mistake, but there were multiple times when the mistake could have been caught, but wasn’t. I was charged for the oil change I did not want. I was not offered a refund or a discount. I did get an apology, but I’d rather have my $80. Yeah, we’ll probably still use them for inspections because of proximity, but we’ll be very sure they don’t do extra work at a charge to us in the future.
I've been taking all my cars to Midas - State College for over 10 years. They've always been honest, explained issues in laymen's terms, they are extremely fast, and great prices. The two front desk managers are great to deal with and are friendly. I appreciate having trustworthy car experts in our town.
I had a terrible experience with this business. Their online information is completely misleading, claiming they have tires in stock and available for installation, which turned out to be false. They don’t honor what’s advertised online, and the staff was extremely rude throughout the process. This feels like false advertising, and I would strongly recommend taking your business elsewhere.
Need to ask a question didn't know how so I'll do it this way... Do you rust-proof/undercoat? I have a 30 year old car no rust and I want it rust-proofed/undercoated in the least on the inner rocker panels, and underneath rear bumper area because I know that's where these cars begin to rust away...I'd do it myself, but I don't have a lift to put the vehicle up to do it with... thanks please reply to this...pic of car attached... appreciated... I've brought my car here a few times for inspections and various issues and they've always done a great job. The employees let me know exactly what they are doing and how much it will cost, and they always answer any questions I have!
I was in for some safety checks following a pothole incident. Another shop might have pressed for going ahead with a full alignment, but they checked it over and explained it was really not necessary — it looked fine.
They kindly suggested other shops in the area that could perform other kinds of tests (computer, sensors) should we need them.
For all this, they didn't charge a thing! (I brought 'em some little thank-you treats later, though)
Needed air in a tire and local gas station air was inadequate for my 26 passenger bus. Staff was friendly and helpful and got me right back on the road so I could get my group home safely. Customer ahead of me in line also seemed very satisfied with service she received at the shop. Small shop feel with good service.

I visited Midas the first time in April- I accidentally double scheduled myself, and had to move my inspection appointment to later. They were so chill about it, moved me to a later slot, and got the inspection done quickly. I liked the people so much I went back yesterday to get new tires mounted and balanced after I had a flat. I didn't feel upsold on anything, I didn't feel talked down to, and I felt the price for mounting and balancing my new tires, and recycling the old tires was incredibly fair. I'll definitely be back again.
UPDATE 2022: Wow, I've been taking my vehicles to Midas for 10 years now, including this week to have something quickly looked at. They continue to be great. Their work is solid, their estimates are fair. They don't try to pressure you into anything you don't need. They give you options, let you provide parts. Thank you guys.
ORIGINAL: These guys are legit. I've taken two different vehicles to their shop. The first vehicle was an 03 Celica that we took in after taking to a competitor for inspection. The competitor told us that it needed new brakes and rotors, but the quote they gave us was ridiculous. The implication was that it wouldn't pass inspection without the brakes and rotors. But when we picked the car up, we had found that it had actually passed, and they were just trying to milk us! Very sneaky. Anyway, I took it to Midas for a second opinion. Their quote was $200 less than the first competitor that we took it to, and since the brakes were running low, we had it done. They had it finished in a day, and the brakes are working great so far.
The second vehicle I took in was a 1994 Camry for an inspection. I dropped it off without scheduling an appointment, but they still inspected it the very next day. Unfortunately, it didn't pass because the reverse lights weren't working. They told me I probably needed a new neutral safety switch. But get this: They suggested that I could probably get it cheaper elsewhere rather than through them ($300) and bring it in to install. What!? An auto mechanic that tells you that you can get a part cheaper somewhere else!? I looked online and, sure enough, I found the part for half that price. They have definitely earned my trust, and made me feel like they weren't out to milk my wallet. I've taken my vehicles to just about every other shop in town, but none of them have come close to the value that I get from State College Midas. Thanks guys!
I took our car in for simple oil change and fluids and air rotation. Matt and the whole crew were fast and efficient and courteous. There is a nice desk in the waiting area so I can get some work done while I waited for the car. I always feel that this Midas is honest and above board and really trying to help people out as much as they can. I really appreciate that and I trust them, and I'll be back the next time my car needs work, big or small.
Midas is our go-to place for oil change and inspection. They always did a thorough inspection, and communicated well on the necessary repairs and available options. They usually got all the repairs done within a day or two. The service reports were always detailed and clear. The charge was reasonable and sometimes lower than our expectations. We highly recommend Midas!
Had an emergency tire repair 20mins before closing and they got me in and took care of the problem all in time for closing for a reasonable price... Will definitely be a repeat customer here!
This particular Midas location has always been wonderful for me. They are friendly, have a nice waiting area with a TV. They are reasonably priced for the services they provide. I trust them. In particular I like a mechanic named Luke. I always ask for him to work on my car. I value his opinion. If something needs to be repaired I am always provided an estimate first.
After last oil change, only few days ago, I found oil leak. Why? Just because Midas worker doesn't put gasket of oil filter on the dedicated place. Thanks Midas, good work
Great experience with Midas! They were polite and clear about everything, and told me my options for getting my brakes fixed and an accurate quote for what it would cost. I decided to have them put new brakes on, and Cody told me it would take about one hour. It was finished in one hour on the dot. Best no nonsense experience I've had getting my car repaired in a long time. Highly recommend these guys, and it is easy to sit and get work done in their waiting area (+ free Wifi) if you decide to wait while they fix it.
This is the best shop in State College for minor repairs. They seem to be honest and do only the needed work and will recommend other things if questionable but leave choice to customer. They will show you any worn parts so you can see for yourself. Labor is reasonable, but parts mark up seems fairly high. I use them for mounting new tires when I buy them on line, and have had minor brake and strut work done here.
