We have been buying automotive batteries here for 30+ years. Sadly, they not longer install them, but otherwise, great place for automotive and other large batteries! They also sell battery related accessories. Like excellently made jumper cables and other things needed to keep your battery working well. (Although, I wish they would bring back the battery install shop!)
Great customer service. They look up type of vehicle needing battery. And they tell you cost up front. They even checked the charge on my old battery in front of me. They're knowledgeable. I'd go back again
Easy to find the HUGE factory. Store is kind of inconspicuous but it has everything they advertise. Prices are reasonable. Products are out where you can see and touch them. Service is excellent. Workers are friendly, knowledgeable, fast and aim to please.
7 months ago I bought a car battery , one of their “seconds” it saves you about 30%. The battery failed and when I brought it back, they claimed seconds batteries are only warranted for 6 months. So I was SOOL. They did offer me another battery that was a bit smaller and it fit but now only had a 30 day warranty but cost much less.
Good prices, a massive selection (wonder why ?), the new ground-level entrance came just in time for me to get old and feeble, and best of all...the staff are all helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly too !!
Other than trying to turn around a semi with a 53' trailer behind me at the back of the facility and the amount of traffic had very little problems here.
At the far back end of the facility, I had a dock door and had to turn around the guy who unloaded me came out and moved a front-end loader out of the way so I could make a u-turn. The people at the scale house where very nice and were very knowledgeable with where I was going even gave me a map and highlighted the route is was taking.
When I was done they let me park in the parking lot to finish my paperwork and get going. (Always be nice and ask, and things can go your way)
People in Berks County don't know what a treasure they have. Batteries bought here are so much better and cheaper than anywhere else. Their 2nds are so nice if you're on a budget.
Recently purchased 2 marine batteries last summer to run our shave ice machines. One was only a spare. Only used 1 for the summer and stored them in a warm basement over winter. Both batteries no longer hold a charge. Not even one year. Disappointing
I was looking for a battery relatively you know priced battery I used to go to I live in Allentown I used to go to Willard on Lehigh Street used to be able to get batteries for 50 bucks but that was a long time ago and they're not there anymore I don't even know about this place until I looked up I work in Berks County and ask the Google find me a place that sells batteries and the price is right for a second I have one of them batteries before it was in the car when I bought it it lasted 3 years so that gives me hope and the guys there very helpful

Just moved back to Pa & LUCKILY my battery died,,,& my uncle said "let's go to Deka". I got an AMERICAN MADE IN PENNSYLVANIA battery at a heck of a reduced price, 100 times the quality of a foreign made one & the guys & the girl working the store were fantastic with their attitude & helpfulness. If you go anywhere but here you're a fool. 🌞🌞🌞
While all the other reviews are correct in that you can get great batteries at discount prices.
They are missing a very important factor.
Buying here; means buying Made In America and Made In Pennsylvania.
I recently went here for that exact reason.
I wanted to be 100% certain I was buying an East Penn (Deka) made battery.
Other than stopping at the security gate to say that you are here to visit their retail store; it's no different than going to any of the big name auto part stores to get a battery.
As for prices. I my case I had a choice between saving 80 dollars by buying a factory second battery or saving a few dollars by buying a new battery. I chose to buy new.
Wish I knew about this place when I first moved to PA a decade ago.
The Store not only have a large variety of fresh batteries also, plenty of accesories for the batteries. Much needed tools for Batteries such: for installation, for maintenance , and some for diagnostic/problems. There are proffesional best technicians that can help. I recommend this store and the Battery Brand Deka, because I test in the past 15 years those Batteries. I build electrical small and medium size Battery banks (for moving/transit OFF-grid devices/systems) and they exceed expectation.
Hidden gem for car battery deals. Well worth the trip when you are in need of a battery. The factory seconds are by far the best prices around if you can deal with a cosmetically blemished battery sitting under the hood that you will never see. ;)
We played with my bike for hours, it had been setting for a number of years.My boys came over with their sure start boxes after three or four of them failed this little GB-40 box kicked it but it died right away.The last battery I bought didn't last two seasons , with a charger on it for the winter , OK, then I researched the best battery and low and behold your name popped up. Went to the Walmart page, it came in ONE DAY, kicked it right over. Great Battery.BUY THIS BATTERY PEOPLE, its the real deal.
Great. They carried the old battery in and got me a replacement with a discount for returning old one. Great place. Helpful, friendly people and it solves the problem of where to take old battery
Need a battery for your car, or truck check out Deka (East Penn Manuf) they make the batteries you buy in any store that sells them for much lower prices. A battery for my car would have been $110. But at Deka it was &63. There's no label on the battery but rest assured it's a major brand battery without their name on the case.
Been going here for years. Purchase 2nd batteries with 6mth warranty for fraction of the cost of retail. Plus get $11 for bad batteries. Purchased lots of batteries, never an issue. Helpful staff. Would recommend.
Many of East Penns overruns and cosmetic rejects wind up here. Everything from little bitty gel batteries to honking big forklift monsters You'll get a great deal on a battery with no performance issues whatsoever. If you have ever felt sorry for a battery, come here and rescue one before it gets recycled.... Personally, I love the genuine industrial vibe.
Call ahead of time. They don't always have what you want. Blems are more iffy than regular batteries. Although I did save money this time, they didn't have a first run battery for my warranty replacement but I got a 2nd and cash back.
I live locally, 20 min and always come up to retail sales. Know what you need and call ahead first to make sure they have what you want. The "2nd" batteries are just as good and very affordable. One example for a group 49 battery is $89 where all others are $140 and over.
Update, on 10/18/2017 I needed a model 908D. The second price is $159. They didn't have any, okay, the new cost form this retail sales store is $324. I called NAPA and Tri-State Battery in DE and another local shop, in the real retail world they only wanted $230-$250. Call around, the DEKA Retail Store may not always be the best price for New Batteries.
