So much history in the Visitors Center, the surrounding area is beautiful with the Delaware River in the background and Park. Every December the reenactment of Washington crossing the Delaware to New Jersey. When you walk around the area, their are original Colonial homes and shops such as the blacksmith, they display what life was back then. Highly recommend for all ages.
Went to celebrate George Washington crossing the Delaware River Christmas 1776 to defeat the British at Trenton.
Reinactors shot period weapons, dressed in period. There were 1000s, at least 6 or 7K in attendance. Museum was educational.
There is nowhere to sit, portable toilets were present. Much walking from parking to site even for disabled. So be it
This is a very beautiful place. Visited during trip home for the Holidays. The buildings are well maintained and the actors are friendly and very informative. They did not get to cross this 2025 as the water level was too low and unsafe... Maybe next time... A great experience!
We enjoyed the tour. We booked ahead, made it very easy. They took us to a theatre room to watch a short introduction, then took a short walk within view of the Delaware River as we learned about the Crossing. One of the key events turned the tide of the war in America's favor, encouraging troops to join and rallying colonists support. A must stop, about 40 min from Philly. Book a Turo for a day. It's worth being there.
Visited this park several times in the past. Yesterday was the first time I went on Christmas. Washington crossed on that day to attack Trenton. A very massive crown turned out along with many reenactors. Driving in the area was a bit of a challenge. I did have to park about a mile away and then walk. But that’s was fine.
Wonderful Visitor Center! Very informative with a film to view and a gift shop. There are a number of Monuments directly outside with easy access to the Delaware River. Free parking lot directly across the street.
Wow! So much history. Convenient parking, large park across the street, Delaware River, gift shop, restrooms. We spent easily 4 hours inside exhibits reading and viewing. Many exhibits, maps, clothing of the period, a replica of campsites used that are kid friendly too! Amazing to realize the distance George Washington had to go to cross the Delaware to Trenton and use of ferries that are still in existence today, along with German and French military too! A must see to get a great understanding of the magnitude of his Army's endeavors to save us from British rule.
I am a history teacher, and this place was a must visit! The museum adds a perfect touch to this historical location. My students were very impressed when I returned and showed them the pictures.
It is a nice small piece of history, commemorating the crossing of the Delaware river. This is where our revolution could have ended/died. Through God's grace and George Washington's leadership, they made a surprise attack, at Trenton and Princeton. Reviving moral and the Patriot spirit before going into winter quarters.
Beautiful park, Historic buildings, Scenic Delaware River, Nice Visitors Center, benches to sit and relax, paved walkways, pedestrian / cyclist paths, pedestrian walkway on bridge over the Delaware River, plenty of parking. Clean restrooms.
Had a great first experience here today. Workers were friendly and engaging, with great information and things to see. Would definitely recommend coming and visiting here.
Very interesting historical park. It was almost surreal standing on the bank of the Delaware River and thinking about what it must have been like on that Christmas Eve so many years ago...

First Crossing December 8th, 2024 was more than I’d expected. 3,200 attendees. 100’s of interpreters dressed of the re-enactment of General George Washington’s Christmas Day crossing. Corinne, Jennifer and their staff plus volunteers made it a memorable day for me! They keep history ALIVE!
On a cold, snowy Christmas night in 1776, the Continental Army changed the course of history. Led by George Washington, they braved the rough Delaware River to land at Johnson's Ferry in NJ and march on to victory against the British. Operated by the Friends of Washington Crossing, we visited the site on the PA side this morning where their departure was preserved at Washington Crossing Historic Park.
Reservation was easily made yesterday on their website for the 10:30am tour. Between the Upper Section that has the Thompson-Neely House and Revolutionary War Soldier’s grave. The Lower Section has the Visitor Center and the Old Village right at the site of the crossing. This encompasses 500 acres, which represents much more than a single event.
Upon arrival, my partner and I had time to walk around the perimeter of the Visitor Center. When the building opened at 10am, we entered and were greeted by the staff. Inside had a wonderful auditorium and exhibit hall that featured the canon Marquis de Lafayette gave to the Continental Army.
Our tour started by watching a short film about the history of the crossing. We further followed our tour guide David Price outside to the large white barn to view a Durham boat, similar to what George and his men used during the crossing. He led us along the Delaware River among the fall foliage to talk about the war leading up to and following the December 26 Battle of Trenton. He was able to make history come alive for us at $7 per person.
The park also has wonderful historical homes but were closed while we were there. It’s an ideal spot for picnicking, hiking, and bird watching. The well-maintained trails and scenic overlooks allow visitors to enjoy the natural beauty of the area.

Large park (PA side) bordered by canal path on one side and Delaware River on the other. Historic area and visitors center are well-maintained and easy to access. Small parking lot across the street. Park area is expansive, for walks or picnicking, as there is also a large pavilion. Nice views of the river.
We took a Sunday ride to Washington Crossing, we did both the PA/NJ side of the Delaware. We went to the visitors center, saw a short film and walked through the historic buildings and cemetery. The area is charming and well kept. There were a-lot of people riding bikes on a path, some MC very enjoyable!
My wife and I decided to stop at Washington Crossing Historic Park while on our way to Philadelphia, and we’re so glad we did! After crossing the Washington Crossing Bridge, we couldn't resist checking out this iconic site. The museum offers insightful exhibits that dive deep into George Washington’s famous 1776 Delaware River crossing on Christmas Day. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the grounds weren’t busy, which made the experience even more enjoyable. It was the perfect 1-hour detour—definitely worth the stop!
Helpful Tips: If you're passing through, allow at least an hour to enjoy the exhibits. Great stop for history buffs and easy parking available!
I really enjoyed my visit to Washington Crossing State Park! It was 72⁰ when I went and the weather was perfect. We walked along the trails, down by the river, and we're looking at some of the landmarks such as the blacksmith shop and the Durham boats exhibit. This is an absolutely beautiful place to be and I will even go back later today.
We have been crossing through this location for months, always wanted to stop and visit the park. Last weekend we finally planned our visit. The park is beautiful and serene, the Delaware river makes it a pleasant spot.
The visit was pretty informative and would bring immense pleasure to history buffs.

So worth watching the reenactments especially on Christmas day when Washington crossed the Delaware River to Trenton on Christmas day 1776. A stop off along the D&L trail. Great for walking, biking even taking family photos.
SO MUCH FUN! This is a great place to go with your family. It was raining but my nephew had a lot of fun! It’s a lot of talking and learning. The reenactment was so cool and the actors were super kind and answered random questions that my nephew had!
A must visit beautiful park in the banks of Delaware River, at Pennsylvania and New Jersey border. With ample parking space and well maintained restrooms. Beautiful trails with clear maps available at information center. You have guided tours available from information center. Some theater setup available for running shows to explain history. Good scenic sights near river bank. Very close to new hope town
This is a lovely historical park at NJ PA border by the Delaware river. The park has a nice visitor center with multiple displays talking about the war. There are clean restrooms available in the visitor center. There is a nice walkway by the riverside and a beautiful garden. It is a great spot for photography on special occasions. The history of the place is quite interesting. They have boats from the times of George Washington which are preserved meticulously.
What an amazing place. Anyone who enjoys stepping into the history of our great nation, needs to visit both sides of this historic crossing. There are so many incredible buildings and historic artifacts to see in the area. The historians were truly phenomenal and provided great information to us which we will share as well. Important to have knowledge of what had to occur for us, as a nation, and the cost paid, to have what we cherish today. The historian (Diane) also gave us info on an off-map burial spot/memorial for unknown soldiers from that fateful night crossing and battle. Not so easy to find, but hiking to it became one of the most meaningful moments of our trip!
Found this to be a peaceful location preserving an important bit of American history. It is mostly made up of a small, community of historic hones that are accessible for viewing and a self-guided tour along a well maintained, paved pathway. Currently, many of the homes are under repair and can be viewed from the outside only. The “village” is small and will not take long to go through. The visitor center is clean and easily located with a gift shop, movie, information, parking and restrooms. There is a nice area for relaxation under the trees to enjoy a picnic or allow the kids to run off some energy. You can also easily cross over the bridge to the NJ side to find a walking/cycling path. There are yearly events that take place that include reenactments so be sure to check their website for these programs.
This is the spot where General George Washington and about 2400 men of the Continental Army crossed the icy Delaware River on a miserable cold Christmas night in 1776. We began our visit with a fantastic movie and a excellent guided tour. The visitor center and grounds are very nice. The gift shop has an extensive collection of gifts and the museum is well laid out with incredible exhibits. It was a tremendous historic visit to walk where they walked in 1776. This was one for the bucket list.
