Pricing is always very low compared to the other local yards. American Steel is minutes away now and pays a lot more down the road. Would be nice if they matched their prices if they want to keep everyone's business.

I try to do business locally but this will be my last trip to Iron City after multiple years of dealing here. Low prices and a rude yard guy. The website hasn't been updated since 8-2024 with pricing. There were only 2 other people bringing in scrap in while I was there and now I know why. I took in some SLA batteries, 57 lbs. worth and only got $7.41.
Also I had a 1 ton dump truck load of shred, I was then told by the yard guy running the shear that there was "clean tin" within the load and I would have to separate it???
He said " You will be much happier if you separate it, you'll get more money".
I'm sorry but I don't have time right now, Saturday is my only day off. I'm not going to spend 45 minutes and possibly hurt my back to do your job. Nope, an extra $10 or so is not worth potential injury.
I said never mind I'll go somewhere else that isn't going to hassle me over a little bit of "clean tin".
I went to Metalico Pittsburgh's shredder where they were happy to buy my scrap, I was in and out in 15 minutes and got a better price than Iron City!
It's a shame your yard guy running the shear had to be a jerk and loose you business. This isn't the first time I've been given attitude by him but it sure will be the last!
My first ever review, that's how upset I am. Dropped off over 950 Lbs of aluminum cans for a youth organization fundraiser. Was given a reduced rate less than 1/3 of the can Rate. We spent 45 minutes sorting thru the cans to pick out 2 Bins full of glass bottles and other metals. Which they reduced our load over 50 Lbs and Reduced the Rate. These Cans usually net us $700 to fund our programing. today we left with baely $200. Shade Dealings by the yard boss, make sure you know what your getting before you unload.
I am a first time customer and had good time there. Drive in, drop off, get the ticket and go to the office getting paid. Very smooth! Super friendly and helpful staff. 5-star!
Clean radiators having an alternative price from clean aluminum. .14 for radiators to .49 per lb for clean. Was told gonna get clean aluminum price...
Lesson learned.
Called them by clicking # on their website on the page about appliance recycling. Operator said they “don’t have a website” and don’t accept scrap from the public. Seemed annoyed. Huh.
