We visited “Trash & Treasures” twice during our trip to Rockaway Beach! They had a rare collection of plates we’ve been searching for, and the prices were actually lower than what we found online. The owner was incredibly friendly and told us he intentionally prices collectibles below online listings, which is smart and makes it a win-win for everyone.
He even went into the back to find the original packaging for our items, knowing it would increase their value, such a thoughtful gesture that shows how much he cares. Very nice free reusable tote bag with our purchase, which was a nice bonus.
Employees are very kind, prices are fair, and they set the claw machine in the back room up for success for kids. Very laid back, low key, fun for a leisurely poke around. Highly recommend.
One star for awful hospitality. I had just entered the doors and I had my dog with me and they said if another dog came in that I would have to leave or carry my 40lb dog around… I said what? That doesn’t make sense. They have a one dog rule, but if I was there first then someone else should wait, I shouldn’t have to put down what I was doing to appease someone else. I immediately left and said I would gladly take my money elsewhere if that’s the rule… they then tried to get me to come back in, this is a good way to lose business. I still walked out. I went down to a different store who gladly welcomed my pup who sits if I stop walking, will lay if I’m stood too long and leave others alone and other dogs.
Went here while on vacation and absolutely loved it! Cozy little store to get a vast array of items from knick knacks to souvenirs to clothing to kites and more. Very friendly staff (owners?) who were more than happy to answer any questions we had or help us locate something we were looking for.
My wheel had broken off my wagon and we couldn’t find a place had a nut to but the wheel back on when I stopped in here and the owner had looked through his own things to see if he had one! He did! Just gave it to me! We came back to shop and was so wonderful to my two small children.
They even gave them both a sucker for they’re birthday! I LOVED LOVED LOVED THE CLAW MACHINE THEY HAVE IN THE BACK TOY ROOM! Felt like a little girl again! Thank you guys! You really are a treasure!!!
I just tried shopping here and the employee was extremely rude. I walked in with my dog and another customer’s dog started growling and barking at us. My dog is not reactive so I was about to quickly step into another aisle to give them space. The lady at the counter started yelling at me to pick up my dog because “there can’t be two dogs down on the floor at the same time.” Why should I be expected to shop with my 30 lb dog in my arms because another dog is acting out? And why does no other gift shop in town seem to have a problem with multiple dogs in the store? I ended up leaving and spending my money elsewhere. We had a great experience at Flamingo Jims so if you’re traveling with a pet or just want nice customer service, I recommend shopping there instead.
Definitely worth a look if you're in the area! Interesting mixture of merchandise, with something for everyone. Loved the music playlist they had going while we shopped!
The owners were really kind and let my young son use their (not open to the public) bathroom. (It's connected to the kitchen, so it makes sense that they don't have a public restroom.) The owners also added a few more stuffed animals to the claw machine to increase the chances that my kids would get something. Very kind! They have a wide variety of things like antiques, toys, sweatshirts and lots of other trinkets to choose from.
This is a must stop place if you are rolling through or coming to Rockaway. There's very little Trash, but loads of Treasure, the biggest one being the owner. You will find all kinds of gifts and collectibles under one roof, with many options that might be hard to find online. Very affordable pricing and a staff that is always willing to help you find that special something.
There are really cool gifts, old school trinkets, new and thrifted clothes, as well as books, dvds, etc ( and SO much more). Just a random mix or new and used things. The owner has a great personaliry- joked with our 6 year old and "haggled" with him (my son had ro tell him a joke). Just good people with a good little shop.
They get 5 stars for great customer service and a great selection of just about anything. Local goods, sea shells, kids toys, candy, clothing, jewelry, and so much more. They were so kind to my 4 year old grandson who was buying his own things. To use a debit or credit card you must spend at least $5.
Trash and Treasures is a combination gift shop and thrift store, some new, some old and some in between, owners are nice and friendly, helpful but unobtrusive, fun place to stop in and look around, easy to find on 101 across from train stop in Rockaway Beach, mask required unless you are full vaccinated. Recommended stop.
Fun rummage through varying decades. Kind of a Needful things style junktique. My only criticism is that anything of any sort of value is marked up to the very top of its value potential. Many everyday items can be found here if you have made your way to the beach and forgotten cookware or dining sets. My favorite part was going through old vinyl and seeing that they have an old claw machine filled with beanie babies.
Cute shop with lots of old and new treasures! Loved talking with the owners, they gave us recommendations for places to eat and things to do. Will definitely go back to visit each time we come through!
