From the moment you turn onto the reservation, the whole experience begins. The drive in alone is worth it — at one point the road weaves down through the most gorgeous, picturesque canyon. The colors are unreal. And hello… we saw wild horses… WILD HORSES people.. just out there living their best life. It already feels special before you even get to the pools. Once you arrive, it just keeps getting better. Soaking in the hot springs with the wide open landscape around you is such a reset. And the mountains are right there across from the pools — not way off in the distance — right there. We watched the most gorgeous sunset drop behind them while soaking. It was one of those quiet, “this is why we came” moments. We also booked one of the private tubs on the river, and I’m so glad we did. Totally not necessary — the main pools are great — but with a bigger group it was such a fun way to break things up and get some more private soaking time away from the crowds. It felt special. I’ll definitely do that again. I love that they have hiking and biking trails right there too. You can move your body during the day and then soak after — such a perfect combo. The restaurant had legitimately good food (which isn’t always a given at resorts), plus even something for the vegans (score), the gift shop is the cutest, and every single staff member we interacted with was so sweet and kind. It genuinely felt welcoming and inviting. We only did a day pass this time, and there’s clearly so much more to explore. I can’t wait to come back and stay the night — I’ll have to write another review after that experience. It’s not flashy luxury — it’s peaceful, grounding, beautiful Oregon magic. Kah-Nee-Ta Hot Springs Resort feels like a reset in the best way. Can’t wait to go back.

Just got back from a weekend at Kah-Nee-Tah Resort and it was an incredible escape. Your trip really begins on the drive. As soon as you hit the high desert, the scenery shifts to rolling plains dotted with sagebrush. You turn off the highway onto a long, winding road that threads through a canyon straight out of a classic western. As you descend toward the river and the resort, you might even spot wild horses in the distance. The canyon walls are lined with caves and dramatic striations, a visible record of the river carving its path over eons. When you arrive, you’re greeted with plenty of parking, including EV charging, and staff who are attentive, helpful, and genuinely welcoming. During our stay my wife and I took advantage of the discounted spa services for overnight guests. We booked a couples soak, with individual side‑by‑side tubs so we could choose our own scents and dial in our perfect water temperatures. We also enjoyed a Sugarberry Body Scrub on massage tables set up next to each other. The spa team was fantastic—we even bonded over our dogs and swapped photos. It was a real treat. The pools are a highlight. The lazy river drifts along at an easy, unhurried pace and passes under a fountain statue that spills a gentle stream of hot water. They’re great during the day, but at night they become something special. Steam rises off the hot water into the cool air, the pool lights glow, and the music creates a deeply relaxing vibe. Stretching out in the hot pool and gazing up at the stars feels downright magical. The food is solid, and we found a couple of favorites. The Indian Taco with beef was the standout, and the huckleberry lemonade quickly became our go‑to drink. If there’s one thing I wish they offered, it would be a dog spa or doggy daycare—ideally something along the river. One of the challenges in planning a visit is figuring out what to do with my dog. They do have pet‑friendly rooms, which is great, but being able to check her in somewhere on-site for the day and then fully enjoy the resort would be amazing. Overall, I highly recommend adding Kah-Nee-Tah to your list of day trip or overnight getaway ideas. It’s about two hours from Portland and offers a completely different experience than the usual beach run.

I booked a room with a fireplace which cost more than one without. When we arrived, there was a sign that the fireplace was out of order and based on reviews I read after the fact, it has been for a while and there will be no price adjustment. The pools were very nice but the machines to dry your clothing in both locker rooms was out of order. With not having the fireplace either, there’s no relatively fast way to dry your clothes which is unfortunate. There was also no ice in the ice machine and the drink machine says not to fill water bottles with ice so where are you supposed to get ice from? Room was overall decent. Very thin walls. Not worth the price but if it was cheaper then it would be. Room was clean, staff was friendly. I thought the food was decent

We had a great visit January '26. The pools and facilities were very nice. Every staff member we interacted with was kind, inviting, and accommodating. The RV park was nice and a short walk from the pools. We enjoyed the trails and walking paths around the property. Being able to get drinks from the bar to enjoy at the pools was also a nice bonus. We definitely plan to return!

Family friendly resort with swimming, hiking, and horseback riding. We saw a few bull snakes. Grounds nicely manicured and pools were clean. The food is expensive, but decent. Staff are friendly. The hottest pool was so hot we only saw maybe 1 or 2 people in it for the duration of our 5 day stay. I would consider dialing each pool back a few degrees so they can all be used.

At the opening things were definitely being worked on but we went the other day and the food was great, the pool relaxing, they have so many fun things to do and the price of the day-pass was lowered by $10. It was very fun and relaxing! They even had swimmers for my toddler! Will definitely be back soon! Looks like they have more of a handle on things now!:)

The RV park was beautifully redone. The pools also got a refresh with a temperature for everyone. We stayed a few nights and there were the basic amenities in the bar and cafe to keep us happy for the time without bringing much on a last minute trip. Best part, the over night guests get 3 private hours from the general public lol. It wasn't bad either way even on a holiday weekend. My RV had a major mechanical problem with its leveling jacks and they were super kind to lend me the needed tools I needed to fix it. Everyone was super nice and polite! 100% recommend a nice two night get away. So thankful Kah-nee-tah is back! It was a staple of my childhood haha. Cheers

I spent the Christmas holidays at this resort. The drive in was breathtaking, with a uniquely beautiful landscape that set high expectations for the stay. While the natural surroundings and water quality were outstanding, there were several administrative frustrations that dampened the experience. The Room & Service • Check-in Rigidity: Despite the remote location, the hotel was extremely strict about the 4:00 PM check-in time. Arriving just 10 minutes early, I was asked to wait, which felt a bit inflexible given the distance traveled. • Facility Issues: I paid extra for a room with a fireplace, only to find it wasn't working. The technician informed me it had been broken for quite some time, which was disappointing. Additionally, the light bulbs on the balcony and inside the room were missing. • Resolution: After spending two hours resolving the fireplace issue, the hotel agreed to a partial refund, and I was finally able to unpack. The Hot Springs & Ambiance • Magical Atmosphere: Once night fell, the resort transformed. The stars were brilliant, and the steam rising from the pool created a truly ethereal, dreamlike vibe. • Water Quality: While there was no sulfur scent, the water was rich in natural minerals. It had a wonderful "slippery" texture that left my skin feeling instantly hydrated. • The Experience: Soaking in the large tub of a private cabana while breathing in the crisp, cold night air was a highlight. It was also a plus that the in-room bathtub used the same natural spring water for a private soak. • A Small Note: The public towels weren't kept in a warmer, so they felt a bit damp and had a slight odor. Tips for Future Travelers Because this is a remote location, the resort shop has a very limited selection. I highly recommend bringing your own snacks and essentials. Final Verdict Despite the initial hiccups with the room maintenance and strict check-in, it is a wonderful destination for families and couples looking for a peaceful escape in nature.

Didn't have much as far as food goes, which is unfortunate bc it's the only place for miles, so I definitely recommend cooking for yourself at one of their outside grills. The soaking pools were incredible. I'd eat trail mix for two days to soak in those pools.

Truly disappointing. I miss the original hilltop hotel. What’s there now feels like an extremely overpriced motel. The walls are so thin you can hear your neighbors breathe, the restaurant functions more like a cafeteria with wet floors and boxed food, and everything is priced at a premium. Even using a tiny locker at the pool costs $10 just to store your clothes, which is absurd given what you already pay for a room. It’s a real letdown. This place used to feel generous, like you were getting more than you paid for. Now it feels like the opposite.

We read through the reviews before going. The negative reviews that we saw were directed towards the cleanliness of the resort hotel. Upon checking in we asked the front desk receptionist if they had made any changes because of the reviews. She explained that they had. All rooms are double checked, ensuring that each room has been cleaned properly. I personally felt that our room was satisfactory. The resort grounds were kept up nicely, unfortunately this time of year we didn't enjoy a lot of their outdoor activities, but there was definitely many to choose from. The hot spring pools felt wonderful, each was it's own temperature which meant that you could find just the right one for you. My only complaint would be that there is no adult quiet pool time. Most facilities offer adult swims, usually the first and last hour of the day. Sitting in the "quiet" pools with children crying, splashing and yelling doesn't offer a full relaxing experience. To cater to just one demographic might not be good business. I would definitely come back with my granddaughter but for a relaxing get away with my husband, we'll probably check facilities that offer adult times for a more peaceful, relaxing experience. All in all, friendly staff and beautiful scenery.

first time visit since reopening . had a good time. relaxing pool is 100 degrees perfect for winter fun for even small kids. we played for 2 1/2hrs.

This was the first time we have come back as locals after 10 years. In summary, the pools are much nicer now that they are separated by temp, etc. However, the food was awful (pickles rancid and very low quality) and there were no towel hooks, broken tile pieces in the locker rooms and no hot water unless you "warm up" the shower for 10 minutes according to the sign. Very disappointing.

We were really excited to check out this resort after it had been closed for so long. We had a lot of really great times in the years past. We had heard about a big remodel and decided to book a night for my husband’s birthday. Unfortunately, it was a huge disappointment. The room felt more like a Motel 6. No exaggeration. Popcorn ceilings, a microwave sitting directly on top of the fridge, and furniture that looked old and unchanged from before the closure. The coffee maker was dirty, and there were holes in the screen door. The sliding glass door lock was broken, so we had to use the ironing board to keep it closed. The new laminate flooring was nice, and the bed was by far the best part. Super comfortable, but that was really the only highlight of the room. The pool closed at 9 pm. We checked in around 8:30 and were hoping to swim, but it was already too late. That was frustrating, especially since the pool was one of the reasons we chose this place. Since we couldn't swim, we decided to watch a movie. We were stuck watching "Golden Girls"? because it was regular cable and the batteries were dead in the remote. The TV did not have a way to change the channel either. We made the best of it, even though it was disappointing, we still found a way to laugh about it, because it's seriously felt like somebody was playing a joke on us.? The “restaurant” also wasn’t really a restaurant. You order at a counter, get a buzzer, drinks come in plastic cups, and the building itself hasn’t been remodeled at all. The pool area did look nice, but by the next morning we weren’t really in the mood to swim. I can imagine it being enjoyable in the summer, but it didn’t add much to our stay. The biggest letdown was the price. We paid $247 for one night, and it honestly felt like paying resort pricing for a Motel 6 with a comfy bed ?. For that cost, we expected a much higher level of quality and updates.

Definitely a unique experience-highly recommend especially for those who may have musculoskeletal issues. The most relaxing vacation I’ve had in ages. I’ve never spent 5 hrs swimming and soaking in one day-the afternoon was a little crowded, but overall a quiet stay. Staff is professional and helpful.

My friend and I stayed here for 2 nights at a discount, because of the time of year. It was pretty cold outside, the perfect time for healing waters. It wasn't too crowded so we were able to spend lots of time at the spa (Monica is amazing-- had a fantastic pedicure & body scrub from her!) We also later enjoyed a private milk bath & sauna. Milk bath was a great option for private soaking, when there were lots of people in the pools. The staff was soooooo friendly, and down to earth. Alli (not sure on spelling) in the restaurant was super friendly & quick. The kitchen people were also really nice (try the Huckleberry sauce on the fry bread-- it is something of dreams). The maintenance team was always on a project, and greeted us warmly when we needed early morning coffee. Overall, staff is great. Spa is great. Pools are great. Love seeing the growth & improvement over time. Be good, and you'll get good back. ? Thanks, everyone!

Went to the hot springs with my girls this weekend and WE WILL BE BACK. As a native, I felt the vibe, loved the atmosphere and the staff were PHENOMENAL. Inez was AMAZING! Also, there was a gentleman with a hood on who was so professional and polite. The drinks were delicious! 10/10 highly recommend.?

Disappointing - Visited in August 2025. Could not wait to return after the renovations and I can say I will never go back! They should not be allowed to call the mess hall a restaurant. Felt like we were eating in a warehouse with the quality of food to match. RV site was ok, room was dirty especially the floor and customer service was non-existent. Kah-Nee-Ta Management really missed a great opportunity to wow it's customers and instead created a vacation spot people don't go back to.

This place sucks. It’s so inconsistent, all the rooms are different, you never know what you’re going to get. We checked into a room with no towels, not a single one. They enforce rules that aren’t stated anywhere, no signs, nothing in their welcome packet. It’s a joke. The lifeguard Fontaine is SO rude. She gets pleasure out of ruining people’s good time. We got a noise complaint at 1030pm on a Saturday night & they wanted to kick us out & make us drive 2+ hrs while intoxicated…from alcohol they served us all day long. Incredibly irresponsible. There’s no mention of quiet hours anywhere. The food is mediocre at best & overpriced. I would give this place zero stars if I could.

This was not a $300 a night room. Is supposed to be renovated but the room looked the same as when I went there in the 90s as a kid. Burns on several of the furniture items (all cheap MDF) and one chair haphazardly reupholstered. Fireplace wasn’t working and when we called they said none in the hotel were working. No timeframe and it didn’t work the entire time. This is why we booked this room. Bathroom was tiny and dirty with hair all over it. The pools are nice but loud with lots of children and chatter in the silent pool. And the food and “restaurant” are awful and very overpriced. There was nowhere near for any other option though so all you eat is a burger for every meal in a brightly light cafeteria with the same bad furniture. What’s a booth?

So sorry to say this is no “resort.” We booked a hotel room and from the pictures online it looked very nice and even had an in-room fireplace. Once we arrived it was clear the room was not as advertised. Very dirty, the bathroom was downright filthy, hair everywhere and brown water stains on many surfaces. The novelty fireplace did not work and calling the customer service line we were told “none of the fireplaces were working.” No apologies or compensation given for the false advertising. The furniture was rundown and lacking, we only had one bedside lamp and the room was really dark. The lounge chairs on the patio were dirty and moldy. The “restaurant” on the property is nothing but a glorified cafeteria, brightly lit with open seating with no rhyme or rhythm. Food was VERY overpriced for how absolutely disgusting it was. Very greasy, unhealthy and either super salty or zero flavor. We drove over an hour outside the resort our second night to find half way decent food. The pools themselves seemed OK but the “quiet pool” was always full of loud children or adults talking loudly and yelling to their kids. There was absolutely nothing relaxing about soaking on our second day with the staff using gas powered leaf blowers (3!) all around the pools making the atmosphere more awful that it already was. Needless we came away from what was supposed to be a romantic getaway, hungry, grumpy and not relaxed at all! It was a huge disappointment especially because the land is absolutely gorgeous and this place could be so much better! 5/5 on the surrounding area/land beauty and wonder! 1/5 on the resort itself. Bummer!

Kahneeta its self is beautiful and the pools & restaurant was great. But that’s about it. The ROOM was absolutely disgusting. We got to the hotel “after cleaning from the last guest” and the beds were completely covered in dog hair. The base board and walls and doors are covered in nasty stains. They had bugs all over the room. The phone line and wifi did not work at all. Our back door was broken and the floors were absolutely disgusting. I brought my husband and I slippers that were brand new and tossed them there. The ladies that changed the sheets in the rooms put the sheets on the concrete outside while they took off the old sheets, they used lint rollers to roll off the hair on the beds. The last night I took a shower and requested more towels and when I opened the towel to wipe myself I found 5 black long hairs. The corner in the room where the ironing board sits is so gross. The ironing board was covered in black stains all over no one spot on it was clean. I would not say that the hotel was ever remodeled with how horrendous and disgusting it was. I do not believe I will be returning.

Best weekend getaway! We stayed in our RV and enjoyed clean rest rooms and showers, wonderful pools and new cold plunge. Added on a steam and sauna one afternoon following a 2 hour hike on the property. Beautiful scenery and restful ambiance with the traditional Indian music wafting gently throughout the background. The staff were fully present to our every need, from the first welcome at the entrance, to getting us a wheel chair for my husbands mobility challenges, to helping us open doors, answering questions. We never felt like we were a bother to any one of the employees. They all seemed content and happy to be there. Special shout out to Sid, the lifeguard who cared for us by the pool. What a dear heart~ alway there to be sure my husband was safe getting in and out of the pool. Oh! The new game pavilllion was great. Covered ping pong, corn hole, video games, and pickle ball were found there. Mini golf was fun. Grounds insulate. New river side private cabanas looked really inviting. It was in the 50's and was totally comfortable. We can't wait to go back!

This is our second visit to Kahneeta. We stayed at the hotel both times. The rooms are pretty basic but quiet and clean. The whole resort is very down to earth. The food and beverage is reasonable and tasty. The surrounding scenery is gorgeous. It's the water that will keep bringing us back. You can soak at 108°, 104° 100°. This trip they added a water movement class. It's a blend of underwater pilates and yoga. The instructor, Alexis, was fun, chill, and informative.. an overall fantastic instructor. Kahneeta is easy to recommend. Just felt healthier and happier the whole.

Our family had a pretty good time staying in the teepee even though during the day, you cant stay in them. It is way TOO hot. I would stay again, but only when the max temperature outside is 75 degrees. The teepees dont have fans, shade or any real respite from the sun. The kids thought it was fun. Besides that we did have a good time in the pool! Our family also had a great time doing the river float and playing mini golf. They also have a covered tent with a few different activities, basketball court, tennis court, but it was just too hot to do them. I think as they make more money, we'll see improvements/additions. Here are my suggestions for improvements: -Water slide -More food options -Bigger teepee entrance. It was fine for me, but is difficult to enter/exit for others that would have to bend over. -Large fan for the Teepee -Bathroom Remodel -More activities for families (that wasnt in the direct sun)

I spent many enjoyable days at the pool prior to this remodel, and was greatly disappointed in the changes that they have made. 1. I was surprised there was no family activities for the pool guests, mainly just soaking. The slides have been removed, the pool to swim laps is gone. 2. I agree with one of the other reviewers, the lazy river needs a little less lazy, I wasn't even sure what the point of it was. 3. Everything seemed a little ran down/dirty and overpriced. I would not recommend this at its current price point to any family or friends. Sorry ?

The stay in the teepee was great! The pools were also awesome. The only minor dislikes were the restaurant was mid (eat at the wellness food cart for sure) and the music at the pool was pretty loud. That said, I love the morning pool exercise class and I HIGHLY recommend finishing your stay with the hair spa treatment. In fact, my whole group enjoyed the various spa services.
