Very helpful folks been cleaning up my sisters property and was told to bring the metal to dump cause there was no recycling close by. I decided to look for myself and found shinglehouse. They took all my metal and they paid me and found out the dump sells there metal to them. Super nice folks since I was clueless to process they walked me thru it no problem. Highly recommend.
Went there just to drop-off an old water heater that needed to be recycled — for no charge (!!) instead of being charged $$ by the dump in town to dispose of it (yes, I’m looking at you, West Coast Recycling… :)).
Anyways, so yeah, seemed easy enough to do… loaded it into the back of my pickup (oof!) and found the little gravel road off the slough, drove past the piles of rough-sawn lumber (cool!) and back to the little office — parked and asked about it before going through the gates to the scrap pile.
You can hear the groan of the magnet crane out back as you pull up. Someone is moving a pickup truck skewered on a giant fork lift, and I don’t want to be its next victim !! LOL.
Anyways, guy in the office says, “Okay just drop it off out behind the building on the pile.” I think, “Okay… kind of ambiguous, but maybe there’s a pile of water heaters… and it’ll be obvious.”
Well, I guess I should’ve asked for clarification — as after scuttling around the building (hoping I wouldn’t pop a tire on a stray steel screw, or worse, get accidentally picked up by the magnet crane, haha) the giant bear of a fellow operating the crane started honking his horn (yes, who knew cranes have horns?) and yelling at me “No! Not there… over here! Put it over hereeeeeee!”. Like, yeah, right next to his crane. Sure, buddy. Like I’m supposed to know that.
So, I skittishly parked near the giant beast of a machine, while it sputtered and swiveled and hoped it would drop a loose drive-shaft accidentally into my head — and dragged my water heater out of the truck bed (by myself, no offer of help from the other dudes in the yard, btw) and… then skedaddled as fast as I could back to safety. Hehe. Eek.
Okay, mission accomplished. Days since last accident… ?? Unknown. :p (sigh/LOL)
So, there you go. It worked out, but… there really should be some signage, perhaps. “Beware of grumpy ogre operating magnet crane.”
Or maybe the dudes on the lot could ask what you’re dropping off and make sure you don’t get in the way. Just a thought, guys. Would be helpful, and you could avoid a potential lawsuit, besides. ;)) Just sayyin’.
It was so worth the trip going there. Both the people outside in the people inside where so obliging and helpful. I found and got exactly what I was looking for
No longer selling auto parts.
Dropped off a pressure washer. Gave me 1.87 and a 2 dollar hazmat fee cost me 13 cents. Better than the land fill but not worth the trip from reedsport and back. That's a shame.
Can no longer pick up parts. Everything that comes in is getting smashed. Brought some brass in. The amount was high enough they had to cut a check. Waited several weeks finally called back and the check was returned along with others but I never received a phone call saying to come pick it up.
Other then that the employees are great and helpful.
Don't drive a nice vehicle in there they will try to overcharge you to insane proportions! Asked why I'm being charged more than I can get it for online BRAND NEW they no joke responded with "that's a really nice jeep your driving" told them it was my bosses. They dropped price by over 75% instantly. Nice of them after trying to completely rip me off. Too little to late
Rude and unpolite. Felt like they were accusing us for thieft of our own property. Wouldn't give us our part of the money we earned from recycling and they plan to keep the money for 3 days due to the state law and after 3 days they will mail it out afterwards
This is the worst place ever they wouldn't give us back our money said they couldn't that's unheard of so we had to drive two hours to get our money back after the so called manager hung up on me on the phone... Don't buy anything from this so called business.

First time I ever had a bad experience in over a decade. A miscommunication with a lady in the front office resulted in a yard worker being an %$@;- not an "excuse me, or do you mind?"-just straight rude. Had been 5 star service up to this point.
A great place to spend a summers afternoon of course like any salvage yard it never hurts to bring wasp repellent and of course always stip in and see the front counter before adventuring through the gate to scavenge for parts !)
Always fun coming here and I have never found the pricing to be unfair. Additionally, staff is always extremely helpful in verifying compatible parts which is a huge help!
Had the part we needed (fan shroud v8 Cherokee) and found some interior bits. They offered to pull it for us when we called.

I love Shinglehouse! The prices are amazing and the employees are outstanding! Tons of vehicles in the yard for parts and the scrap metal area is top notch. The gentleman that operates the track loader is damn fine at what he does. I highly recommend them!

This is the best place on the Oregon coast to bring your Metal and old vehicles you dont have a use for anymore. The employees are very helpful and always do what they can to help you
The last largest auto salvage in area after 101 Salvage closed on 101. Disposing of non working vehicles is hard. Getting parts for old vehicles either because of price by dealers or need it know is very tough. Shinglehouse will buy your old vehicles at current scrap prices plus aluminium great selection of parts vehicles. Knowledgeable counter staff linked to Eden.
Not the best first time experience. Called for pricing and availability on lead. They said they had it for $0.75/pound. I told the lady I would be there in a little bit. It's a 45 minute drive from my house. I got there to buy the lead and the guy told me they were out of lead. If you are going to tell people you have something, perhaps you should make sure.
