I called with a few questions about an estimate my friend’s mother received for a 2014 Nissan Juke. The quote was over $1,200 for what is essentially a basic tune-up (spark plugs, ignition coil, filters, oil change, and a fuel injector service), and I wanted clarification on how the pricing was calculated.
I’m a mechanic myself, and I was asking these questions as a woman in the field who understands parts pricing and labor times. I was polite and simply looking for an explanation.
During the call, I was told that the parts pricing was set that way “for profit” for the company. When I mentioned I was confused by what appeared to be double charging between very high parts markup and full labor, the person on the phone became snarky and dismissive and said, “Try to be a doctor.”
I understand that shops need to make a profit. However, customers also deserve respectful communication when they ask reasonable questions about a large estimate. Based on this interaction, I would be cautious before approving work here.
They took care of me right away when I came in with a flat repair for my daughter the owner was extremely helpful and personable top notch would definitely recommend for any of your automotive needs

Mound City Tire has very professional owner/operators that are honest and fair. The pricing is reasonable and the service is always completed at the promised estimated time. If any issue remains after the service they take care it quickly. I would recommend.
I brought my wife’s car in to Mound City Tire unannounced. Eric was very friendly. Eric and the team were quick to get four new tires on the car and were very helpful and educational about the situation. Long story short, hitting a pothole is not fun for the pocket book.
Despite that, I will be back to use Mound City’s services moving forward!

If you are looking great service for your car along with outstanding customer service you need to look no further. Over the last 5 years he has had 100% of our businesses for just those reasons.
Took my truck in to get two tires and switch my tpms sensor from my old rim to my new one. They told me it was $80 to switch the sensor over. Tried to make me replace my tie rod even though nothing was wrong with it. Then I had to wait to get an alignment I had already payed for because they were so backed up even though they told me when to come in. They said it was “good to go”. My tires rub, the truck pulls to the right, the passenger side tire rubbed a 8 inch hole in my wheel liner, the steering wheel is turned at 1 o’clock and this is after I had been in and out of the store 3 separate times because of parts I needed to replace. Half of which weren’t bad, just wanted the $800 to change the ball joints. Luckily I’m capable of doing it. I’m probably the only person in there with all my teeth anyway. These people have no shame and as long as they get their pay check they don’t care what happens to you. Not entirely sure how an overpriced, half-assed business with horrible customer service is still up and running but here we are.
RESPONSE: I replaced every single suspension component on the entire front of the truck. I watched you check if everything was on correctly. You drove it around the block and said everything was fine. 10 minutes later when I went to drive home it was pulling. Your lazy tech didn’t want to have to try to adjust anything. The tires I “chose” are the same tires I’ve put on the truck for 150,000 miles because they fit my needs well which I why I bought 2 more for the BACK of the truck Which would have nothing to do with rubbing when I turn.
Dangerous and shotty work. This is the state of my control arm after it was aligned.
I want to say that today was the first time I came to Mound City Tire for service and an oil change, after being highly recommended. Eric (the owner) and his staff are extremely knowledgeable, professional, and personable. The two cats that live on site are just as sweet as can be! Great guys to deal with. Had a low tire today and stopped by for air adjustment. Tech found a nail in it and they removed and repaired tire while I waited. Always friendly helpful staff. Greatly appreciated.
Bud treated us very rudely. Too long of a story but he was snide and rude, even insinuated we were trying to get something for free which was absolutely not true and I was completely embarrassed. I have spoken highly of them in the past too, so I was taken aback at his nastiness.
Mound City (via AAA) sent a tow truck to help get us out of a snow drift ON a country road. Driver was quick and incredibly kind. He stayed to help get the snow tamped down after he got out car out which was above and beyond the call of duty. Much appreciated and highly recommend.
Eric, Bud and the team take good care of my Subie. They take the time to help me understand the options and answer my questions. The bonus shop cats are great therapy when your car gets bad news!
I changed my rating for two reasons, both of them brake related. My van and my Toyota.
Let's start with the Van, shall we? I had around 300k miles on it when I took it in for brakes. They told me that I needed everything. Fine. Complete brake job. I mean everything. Front to back. About a week later they start locking up. I assume it's something else, almost 300k miles. It's not worth fixing, I sell it to a junkyard, and buy a Toyota.
Guess what? I take it there for brakes, they tell me that all of it needs done, and I think nothing of it. Go ahead. Guess what happened? My brakes locked up again! Yeah, true story. I take it to someone else and the brand new brakes were so locked up that he had to beat the heck out of them with a hammer and screwdriver to get them to open. He asked me if I tried to do it myself. It was that bad. Ever since he fixed it, it's fine. He showed me the BRAND NEW thingy that they put on (rotor? Whatever the brakes clamp on.) It was grooved from the pads wearing out and just sticking and grinding. He said that I was lucky to bring it in when I did.
Not only are they not good, they are bad. Two times they said that I needed a full brake job, and two times the brakes locked up soon after. Never again.
Just so we are clear, after I took it to someone else and he beat the heck out of the front brakes... no more problems. Now I wish I would have kept the van too.

I had an excellent experience at Mount City. Eric and his crew were incredibly efficient and professional. I came in needing urgent tire service, and within a few minutes, they were already working on my car. Their timely manner and quick service were impressive. I highly recommend this shop for anyone in need of tire services!
I've been here several times for tires, brakes, and A/C service. The manager, Eric and their staff are always friendly, communicative, and honest. They do quality work and are quick and service-oriented....and the cats! My kids are always disappointed that they didn't get to go to the tire shop with me because they love the shop cats. You guys are great!
Went to patch my tires early Saturday morning. Absolutely amazing experience. Very nice atmosphere and energy. There are 2 cats to company you while you wait. Service was quick as and amazing. If i ever need any service that they offer, I'll be back 100% Highly recommended. Nice to see good customer service when its a rare thing these days.
Fantastic experience, they were willing to see me on short notice when I needed a car inspected that I was looking to purchase. No charge and the staff were friendly and knowledgeable. There are also two adorable cats, Kendall and Wrangler, that certainly made the wait time, which was short as they were able to see me earlier than my scheduled appointment, very pleasant. Would absolutely come here again.
