If you live within 5 miles of this enormous landfill you will be subject to constant smell: garbage, chemical fragrance, gas, ATMOS...it operates 24/7 and is in the process of expanding significantly. Call the Jefferson Health Department and log your complaint.
Truck drivers don’t come here the worst place to deliver. They are gonna abuse your truck and trailer and you have to wash out your trailer after delivery.
Place is big, easy to park, has overnight parking, check in is ok. Tilt unload trailer. If you need directions or operating hours call their number. The BAD: the smell, the dirt a lots of it, the hills and curves on the way to facility, the time (probably will take all day to unload in at 9.30am out at 4.30pm, but it’s not over yet, after unloading your trailer will need to be washed, add extra 2-4 hours.)
As a semi truck driver, I used this route to get in from Steubenville, OH:

Right to OH-9
Right OH-646
Left County route 51
The facility will be on your right
Poor cellular on the way.
Everything here is a waiting game. They have no consideration for drivers times well at least for the flatbed drivers because they were unloading truck after truck of their own trucks and had us flatbedders waiting over an hour. Plus they leave a mess on the trailer with no broom to clean it off so if you don't have a broom you're screwed. This place sucks for truck drivers. I would suggest try and avoid this place if you can.
Didn't bother to mention that they didn't accept cash when we called about pricing. Had a long list of rules to sign, many of which made no sense. Lady had a massive attitude. Stay away! Not worth the drive or trouble. 1 star is a gift.
Trust me Driver !!!! Cancel the load, 12 circles of hell to get here ! all day waiting for unloading, (No trucks )signs everywhere, almost cracked the conestoga curtain and flatbed in half ! All the way here NO GPS SIGNAL! NO PHONE SIGNAL ! Rude Zombies, permanent heavy dust instead of air. Your truck air filters will clog on the way out so you will stuck in the middle of nowhere with no phone signal ! Local people in permanent protest against landfill spreading the welded nails on the roads.
the convenience center is a welcomed addition since the last time i was here. if you forget your hard hat and vest, they can be provided. only accept credit cards
Staff great, unload quick. Call for directions recorded line. Will bring you in on 151 west, not 43 like gps says. Some reviews say to come midnight to 630am is best. They currently do not accept otr trucks until 630am. Has overnight parking. No restrooms etc available overnight.
I was expecting the worst from this place, especially with so many reviews saying GPS didn't work. I called the Apex company and there is a recording that GIVES you EASY directions to get there, except it's not exit 151, it's county road 151. So here's directions: we came from Pennsylvania: going down 22 west , you will PASS Studeville Ohio, heading towards Godus, keep going down 22w , turn on 151 WEST, towards Juitt. Turn Right on US 9, towards Germano. Turn Right on 646 East , turn 1st left onto county road 51. The site is about 2 miles down on right. Yes, it's dirt, its a landfill. People were nice. In and out about 30 minutes. We came early, but it stays open.

*This is a strip mine in the mountains of Ohio. Incredible drive, many hills. It is a huge operation, you will wait hours to unload as they prioritize their own trucks. It should be on Dirty Jobs, it's an incredible site, less landfill than Titan of Garbage. Once you go, you'll probably never go again. Should be done once, just to see it.
Please don’t go to this place! You will get stuck there on a dirt, or take chains for your tires! I asked the lady at that “office” I cannot call office but anyway, for hammer and she acting like don’t know what was it. Thanks to guys on landfill for taking me out of that dirt, and for the other part this place sucks! Goodbye never coming back.
Here every day hauling landfill run off water. Little bumpy getting into the place and when it rains it becomes a mud pit(OTR drivers invest into tow hooks) if you can get pass the smell and dust its not bad. Scale house people are great.
I rarely write a review but after our experience here today everyone needs to be warned. We operate a dumpster service thus frequent numerous disposal facilities daily. Today we decided to send a driver here for the first time because of it's close proximity to our job site.
I won't bore you with all the details but it started with their employees showing poor attitude and ended with 1.5 hrs of time to get thru their facility. We will not be back.
Come here a lot, surprised its allowed to be open. EPA would probably have a field day here. Besides being a joke of a Landfill, worst one I visit, everyone besides a select few are rude. No wheel wash, but I guess you don't need one when the road in and out will shake everything off for the most part. OTR trucks beware not worth the strain on your truck.
TRUCKERS please dont come to this trashy place. There's no signs and you will get stuck with steep uphill and downhill grades. I will give no star this stupid facility. If someone offer me $2000 I will still not be coming back to this.
People were perfect fly fine on the day I was there. There is a bit of a wait to get unloaded for dry Van's though. It's about 15-20 minutes per truck to go up the pile, unload, and come back so the next guy can go. Rough roads all the way into the facility though. Lots of dips and piled up gravel and dirt so if you have low parts on your rig for aerodynamics beware. They have a new entrance so be sure you dont turn on the southern portion of the highway. Its 646(apex rd). It is northwest of Germano. Its dirt all the way from 9.
I wouldn't give them any stars. I had to go to help my cousin. Road was shity getting in. I worked in landfills and this one shouldn't be open. Got on the scale walked Into the scale house looked at my weight it said 8960 after 10 minutes rep. Came out to assist me scale now says 9040. Filled out the papers. Was told go back till you see a sign for a new road. (There was no sign) follow the orange cones the orange cones bring you to a dead end (the only cones) dumped went back to the scale walked in the scale says 9160 i weighted more empty. (Broke scale,not calibrated) then I pulled out a fifty and they said we cant make change for that. Place was a joke drive the extra distance and go somewhere else unless you enjoy being miserable and dealing with stupidity then this is the place for you.
This place stinks, not in a jerk way but a trash way. If you're a trucker be careful on the tip top hill, it's a really tight turn to come around on. Everyone workin there was really help full and quick. The road heading to Apex was a little rocky, literally, it's a gravel road so be prepared to wash your truck after coming to this place.
Delivering load to this "facility ",after 4 hours wait for unloading , decide to talk to someone , (2 miles back to office from waste-yard).
where i find "Randy Palmer" who verbally assaulted me , and throw shipping paperwork in my face, tell leave a property!
when i ask :- "when you think you can unloaded me?"
i refuse to leave ,truck 40 000 lb of garbage where i would go.
-"Apex" call THE police, to remove me from private property also added,
what i have firearm , and threat them with it.
-Police arrived make search in my truck without any permission or ORDER for that. NO weapon was find .
Conclusion: Sheriff shake hands with "Apex landfill" authority
and escorted me OUT.

This place is the worst run landfill I've ever been to. Very rude scale house attendance, very rude equipment operators. Landfill runs on Channel 5 on their CB radios if there ever on the radios at all. If it weren't for my work telling me to dump their I would go out of my way not to. Extremely rough roads, gigantic mudhole when it rains, and do not expect any help even when help is most certainly required.
Minus 5stars! OMG! This place is the last circle of hell! If u Just got the confirmation and U havent picked up the load (trash) yet, and U r reading this, STOP !!! Call your dispatch and cancel! Trust me! 5hours minimum to unload, lot of mud.. the guy operating cat's truck is very helpful, dough. Avoid at all costs!!!
This is bull---- first time and last time coming. Never taking my truck here again 3 and half hour to get unloaded got there at 3:20 am done at 7:01am smh
Idk...for me it was in&out. Fully loaded truck was empty within about half an hour (including checking in and checking out). But it was sunday though, and I was the only one there...so...
Get ready to go 10% grade up to the garbage until you get to the top. That day was dry for me. If it rains or snow...you figure.
DO NOT USE HWY 43 or FOLLOW GPS DIRECTIONS. CR 78 No TRUCKS ALLOWED IN ARMSTERDAN OH, RESIDENTIAL AREA.
HWY 646 IS THE ONLY WAY TO COME IN TO THE LANDFILL. HWY 646 TO CR 78/ARMSTERDAN RD, this is a dirt road.
This is a sorry ass place to come and deliver. Showed up at 1230 and didn't leave the Landfill until 2300! They said it's best to deliver from midnight till 0600. During the day they put their trucks ahead of everyone and leave the rest of us till they feel like sending us up the Tipper to unload. BRING FOOD AND WATER WITH YOU!!!
