There should be a way for the public to get in and use it. Maybe you wouldn't have lost money on recycling plastic.

If you have base access, this is one of the easiest recycling centers to use. They have massive dumpsters, which makes it easier for bigger boxes that are too wide to fit in a slot

I’ve used this facility three times. Here is everything you need to know about using this facility: It is ON BASE. If you can’t get on base, then you can’t use it, obviously. To get there, I recommend going in Gate 1A (the main entrance from OH-444) or Gate 15A (the entrance from I-675 north). Drive towards the water tower. If you’re going in Gate 1A, you should be aware that there is construction on Sacramento St. So take a left onto San Antonio Ave. instead. Go around NASIC and find the place. There are three areas: 1) The disposal station for oil & transmission fluid. It is located in a little building at 39.797478, -84.052206. (Copy and paste those numbers into Google maps.) It is open 24/7. 2) Disposal bins for cardboard. They are located next to #1 at 39.797541, -84.052316. (Copy and paste those numbers into Google maps.) They are open 24/7. 3) Disposal for everything else (plastics, cans, glass, paper, etc.) This area is accessible through a gate and is NOT open 24/7. The gate to get into this area is located at 39.797478, -84.052206. (Copy and paste those numbers into Google maps.) Drive your vehicle through the gate and proceed to the proper areas. (There are signs.) I think this area is supposed to be open from 8 to 5, M-F. Here's more info for #1: As mentioned above, the oil dump tank is open 24/7. I recommend wearing gloves. Park adjacent to the little building. You'll see a big, black funnel attached to the top of a tank - dump your oil into it. Unfortunately, the funnel drains slowly and frequently gets clogged. To unclog the funnel, look toward your right. You should see a steel wire on the drip platform (made from a coat hanger). Use the steel wire to lift the steel screens from the funnel, and then shove the wire down into the funnel to unclog it.

Zero stars if that were an option. Not open to the tax paying public; how insulting to us tax payers. The government wants to encourage recycling, but then restricts it to only base eligible personnel. So I can get on base to play golf or shoot at the trap and skeet club, but not to recycle?

Oddly, no plastic is processed (I've tried inquiring about that & seeking advice on options) but accepts cardboard, paper, metal, various liquids, lubes, & materials.

This recycling center is on Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. It’s open 24 hours a day. It has scales and receptacles for cans, glass, plastic, cardboard, newspaper, metal, wire, diesel, gasoline, brake fluid, hydraulic fluid, transmission fluid, and lubricating oils. It will not accept paints, thinners, pesticides, anti-freeze, polishes, solvents, aerosol cans, fertilizers, cleaners, or corrosives.
