It was my first time going here, and the staff was very helpful and friendly! I live much closer to a different recycling place, but I will be driving farther to Berea Metals & Recycling because they pay more and are so much friendlier. Thank you for a great experience!
My father told me about Berea Metals & Recycling years ago when I was working for him. I went to go throw some wire away and he said, " Don't throw that away! Go see Bob up at Berea Metals."
Fast forward, I work at an RV dealership. And last year, a tech replaced the aluminum siding on a camper. I saw him toss the old siding into the dumpster.
I said, "You're throwing that away!? Don't throw that away!!!"
Since then, the techs will save me their scrap and put it in a pile for me.
Anyways, I won't take my scrap ANYWHERE ELSE but Berea Metals.
I totally adore Bob and his crew!! Without a doubt, I feel a strong family energy/vibe in this building every time I walk in. And that energy has nothing to do with me. It's them.
They're always kind to me and they'll help me unload my scrap if I ask for help.
And above all else, I've NEVER felt taken advantage of or cheated on prices. In fact, I'm always pleasantly surprised by the amount my scrap is worth.
Ultimately, I walk out with more money than I came in with.
And they treat me well.
It's a win-win for me.
Never been to a metal recycling place and the person at the desk was helpful and told me exactly what I needed to do. Was way better experience than I expected
I gave them one because you can’t put a review up unless you do! They are the most unprofessional scrapyard business I know! First off, they are very rude there, second I’ve never seen in my life where they don’t show you weight when being on the scale that’s very shady to me! I’m a women that knows my stuff! They tried to get me on bare bright and say it’s number one copper. Today my fiancé and I tried to bring some things there and made us wait in line before driving onto the scale for 30 minutes , then finally getting out of the car pulling straps off of things and saying they won’t take our stuff because we itemize our stuff for more money. It’s okay for them to rip the compressors out there but won’t accept anything if you take them out yourself. Unbelievable do not recommend for anyone or any business. I didn’t even want to go there today because of past experiences because of the shadiness but my fiancé works nights and this place was close to home! But will no longer go here, we would rather make the commute
Thought it was a great business with good people and fast service till I realized they’re undercutting value for customers, labeled over a 120lbs of steel at 0.10 a lb , what a joke. Go anywhere else if you want any of your actual metal value
It has everything you need if you want to scrap some metals. Friendly and courteous staff. Accurate scales. The girl that gives you cash is kinda cute. It's close to the airport and some interesting gentleman's clubs if you want to kill time before your quick getaway. Checks all the boxes...
The people who work there are very polite and helpful. I dont take my scrap anyware but here they give the best prices in town thats why ive been coming here 10 years straight.
Most scrap yards claim to pay the highest price for scrap metal. I find it varies on age, frequency, and quality of person buying your metal. Most casual scrappers will get taken advantage of.
The best route is to find a professional scrapper. They offer consistent and competitive service and pricing. All the while saving you time, energy, ware and tare on your truck or car. This leaves mechanics, and others that deal in metal more time to make the big buck fixing cars or continue construction or demolition.
Fast service , great pay outs , good people I suggest anyone with scrap metal of any kind check this place out ,, I only have one very small complaint that I wish the back area where you drop steel off was a little bigger you have to make sure you back in there’s no place to turnaround in the back but other wise it seems to be a great place !!!!! This place will just rip you off. The guy doing the weign in should be checked. Everytime I bring in recycled cans he gives me 5 bucks no matter the weight.
Im rating this place 1.51 stars, rounded up to 2.0 lol. 0.035cents/lb gotta be really cheap for scrap metal. On their receipt it shows I had 180lbs (stove and dryer) at 0.035 cents per pound, I got $6.30. The day before I had 100 pounds in scrap metal at a different place and got $7.75. I never got a receipt from them to calculate how much they're paying per pound but I'll definitely start going where they paid me $7.75 for 100lbs vs $6.30 for 180lbs (Berea Metals). Also the lady at the counter must be mute cuz she didn't say a word. Not hi not bye. But the guy on the phone was really nice and polite as well as the guy when I got there, I told him it was my first time there and he explained every step very clearly.
Stay far and clear of this place, I took mid to high grade cpu's & pcb's there and got a tiny fraction of the market value. I called and emailed them many times with no call back or response whatsoever. Extremely disappointed to say the least!! Very expensive lesson to learn so please don't let it happen to you!!
I don't usually leave reviews and I don't frequent scrap yards but I have to say this one has been my favorite. The driveway is clean and you don't have to worry about flat tires when parking. They also have the friendliest staff.
Bob is always knowledgeable, honest, and fair he will not let you sell yourself short if you have something more valuable than you think he will also tell you that what you have might not be as valuable as you think
They tried to count my aluminum siding as regular aluminum I had to tell them what exactly was on my cart, they rip you off. The fairest scrapyard around is Decco Alloy in Brunswick off Rt 303 behind the skatestation,they have all the prices on a huge dry erase board and a big digital scale to weigh your scrap.
The gentleman working the scale was quite a gentleman! He took the time to inform me of a more efficient way to scrap out a couple of the items that I brought in for recycling, and what was and was not worth breaking down further into base metals. He was very fair in the determination of what was #1 copper versus #2 copper. This is a good, above board recycling center in my opinion.
