Selection is very hit or miss. The cars they have from the 1970's and older have been sitting there for decades and most of them have been picked clean. They have almost nothing from the 80's, and not much from the 90's either. Mostly 2000's and newer cars. Also, the prices the owner Allen Johnson gives you will depend on his mood. I once had to leave behind a Toyota headlight because he could NOT drop $10 on the price, and I had already emptied most of my wallet to buy some other parts.
A good place to buy parts, I’ve been to Johnson enough now to have figured out the system. Go in and ask nicely where the parts are you’re looking for and take them off yourself, bring them in and haggle the price with them and you will get a better deal. One time they even gave me a pop.
They don’t hold up to their end. They are taking a car from me when I was told a higher price he went and talk to someone who doesn’t own the car and low balled me. I would never recommend them to anyone. They will make much more money off of it but refuse to help. There are much better places to go.
Awesome stop! Not to many 1993 c1500 around the area for parts but they had one here with what I needed for a very reasonable price! The gentleman that helped us was very friendly and knowledgeable. Wouldn't hesitate to comeback.

Took my Grandson Jackie out to Johnson's Junkyard in Mandan, North Dakota which is where my Grandpa used to take me when I was a little guy... I would imagine if he ever takes his grandson out there he'll be pointing at junked drones and Teslas
After driving over 2 hours to get to Johnson's Wrecking, I was met at the window, by a woman with blonde hair (wish I knew name). She was friendly,energetic & helpful. Humbled and grateful to be alive,my car totaled, her kindness and especially her reminders of what to take out of my car was so much appreciated. Soon, Hunter arrived in a golf cart to pick me up to shuttle me to my vehicle. Hunter was amazing- going above and beyond squeezing into small spaces littered with shattered glass to help me get my belongings out of the remains of the SUV that saved my life. Hunter was not only helpful and respectful, he even went back to retrieve my sunglasses that I remembered and my forgotten remotes. Their kindness, cheerfulness, and helpfulness, helped me through a difficult time, and exceeded my expectations.
Went to sell my car for scrap. Straight out the bat was greeted by 2 people giving off a rude attitude. As well as the guy looking at my car. He lied to my face telling me that a car is 65 dollars per ton for scrap when in reality it's between 95-200 dollars per ton. They'll easily gonna lie to you to try to get the biggest amount of profit for people who don't do their research. Not a recommended business to deal with.
They are very good at knowing what you need and providing an accurate description of used products. The yard is very organized compared to others I’ve been to. Staff here is very friendly and helpful. They have given me a lift back to the front and borrowed me tools to remove any parts I needed. If you call they answer and I always get calls back if I don’t answer they always a voicemail. I’ve never had a single problem with any part I’ve purchased from them. Me and my father purchased from them every chance we get. We have even sold several vehicles to them and they are very reasonable when purchasing.
They always seem like they don't want to be there and ask insane prices on the very well used parts. They live off people not wanting to wait a few days for it to come in the mail. I guess it pays the bills but they could make a lot more money if the place was ran a bit better.
Horrible experience. Was told over the phone I would be given a certain amount for an item. Go to drop it off, they tell me they won’t take it. I tell them I was told over phone they’ll give me said amount, was told to wait for boss. Takes 4 days for boss to answer my calls, have not answered previous calls. Boss said he wouldn’t take it, as it’s parked next to the same exact model. Horrible customer service, and they apparently lie to customers now. Sucks because I heard they were good from friends/family.
Been going there since High School. Always fun. Not very often that they don't have what you need for an older vehicle. Still holds true 30 + years later
Stopped by the office, per the instructions posted. Told the older man behind the counter what I was looking for and all he said was you have to walk, ok, figured, would have been nice to know where the make/models were located... after searching probably 90% of the yard, finally found the make/models I was looking for. Found a good part, removed, walked to the office, asked how much and bam. you'd think it was trimmed in gold. Very poor customer service, and quite expensive for a decent used part.
These guys are great! They are very friendly and professional. The yard is immense and it would be a hard challenge to not find what you're looking for at Johnson's Auto Wrecking!
Old boys up front need to retire. If this place had any local competition they would be out of business. High priced, poor customer service. Decent amount of inventory.
Beyond honest and very good people!! I did business with Johnson's entirely over the phone and through the mail from another state. They were able to pick up my vehicle in ND, tow it to their lot and they sent me a check upon receiving the title for my vehicle. They sent me more than I thought I would get and they communicated with me honestly, professionally and with kindness throughout the process. I am forever grateful to the people at Johnson's Wrecking and I would highly recommend doing business with them to everyone. I could not be happier!!!
Definitely not good at customer service. I waited for a half hour for them to finish disconnecting the part that was supposed to be ready to pick up. And the guys in the office didnt even tell me what was going on. Terrible communication and no one even apologized. I do not recommend.
If you're looking for a part for any mass produced car, stop here. You can try by phone but in person is usually the most effective. I've purchased bumpers and wheels for a Taurus and a Buick Park Avenue here.
Big slection but did not like us going thru cars and tring to start them also threatened to call the sheriff as we were "looking and trying to start to many vehicle's and walking around" again nice selection of parts but dont like us looking for a vehicle to start and buy. Also kinda pricey parts being used and they had alot of the part we needed.
Best parts place I have ever found. They hav wes always had the parts I need when I need them. Huge selection of parts from all types of vehicles. And every reasonable prices. Hand down the best yard in the state.
Called for a part and the guy was rude and seemed like I didn't say what I needed so I had to repeat it at least 3 times and he also had an attitude with me. He wanted my number and gave it to him without him asking my name. Unprofessional experience that I have had calling around for parts!!!! If I get a call which I don't think I will I won't answer it and also he said the price and it wasn't even worth that. I would never have a friend call or go here for parts!!!!
I remember going there with my grandpa when I was young it was always fun and the people were helpful and friendly..now it's a s*** show the customer service is horrible they can't take time to help a customer in any way they are rude and I think they price their junk I. Weather or not their day is going good or not.. not what it once was it's a horrible place and the people are selfish and rude.
Awful, spent three days on the phone calling them over 7 different times to try and schedule a pickup. Received the same run around of "we'll call you when we talk to the tow guy." Never once got a call back. Their service is terrible and they honestly don't care about their customers. Send your scrap anywhere else or do as others posted and post it online.
I called about parts and was told that they would have to get back to me. I didn't think much of it, almost like a blow off. But to my surprise I got a call back with a very descriptive explanation of the parts. The parts I wanted were damaged but Johnsons still called me with the results. And this was a day when it was -10F with a -31F windchill. Hats off to the employees of Johnsons!
My overall experience is terrible due to the fact they are very unfriendly people to work with and need some insight on how to deal with customers. You call them to see if they have a part and they say they will call you back without even checking. Of course they don't call you back either.
