The people were helpful as much as you would expect. They did do some work on my car for no labor since I mentioned the issue the day I bought the car. They are prompt to communicate with you if you need to speak to them or they will call you back if you have questions. I'm happy this dealership is here. It's along the lines of what I need to be able to get a vehicle and I haven't seen any others in the area the same. I would buy another vehicle for sure in the future from them.
I bought a 2006 pontiac vibe from them a few months ago, 1600, two payments and I was out the door with it. Now considering the condition the car was in I believe i got a fair deal with them, this is a used car lot after all none of the cars are perfect, but I still have the vibe with minor issues and she's running strong, hell it got me all the way to florida with no issues. I'm never buying a vehicle from here ever again. I'll all make sure anyone I know who needs a vehicle doesn't either. I bought my Malibu from them in April at full KBB Value and by the middle of September the engine is shot and will cost me 2-3x more than I even paid for the car. 5 Grand for 5 months. Love it ??
Purchased a newer pickup from J&S. Very easy to work with, no hassle and no fees. Do your homework before you buy and ask questions. They’re great to work with and I will consider them for my future rides.
It wasn't a horrible experience so I can't give it less than two stars, but definitely no more. The car runs and drives (mostly) safely. The owner and the lady in the office were really nice and helpful. I paid the asking price for the car, my only stipulation being that they install a new battery because the current one was dead when I test drove it, which they did. But, they must've installed the cheapest lead acid battery they could find because it won't hold a charge below five degrees Fahrenheit. And the low tire pressure light came on soon after the purchase. And the washer pump doesn't work (which I should've checked so it's mostly on me, but still, why not disclaim it outright?). And upon close inspection, the hand brake is caked with black, moldy grime; many nooks and crannies were full of McDonald's French fries, which I discovered only after realizing they put no effort into making the car fully clean, only "good enough", so I wanted to discover how filthy the hidden parts were that you wouldn't see unless you intentionally inspected it.
I hate giving a poor review, but it's the truth. For a car that I paid over the Kelly Blue Book pricing for, I expected more integrity from the company I bought it from.
Bought an f250 from Alex at J and S. Got the truck for a good price, and was told everything I needed to know about the rig before I got it. Also, I was coming from a distance and the folks were nice enough to meet me half way and save some time!
we bought a "reliable" vehicle from then over paid and put half the cost of the vehicle into it for parts and they are still no help got sold a lemon and they won't do the right thing not even 3 months after purchase and have to get a new vehicle smh shady car lot
I can't believe this place gets away with selling the cars they sell... majority of them have check engine lights on or outright just don't work. The five star reviews either have to be posted as jokes or they were paid by the people running this place to make it look good for people unfortunately gullible enough to fall for their schemes
I bought a trailblazer with low mileage at a very reasonable price from J&S Auto/Thompson ND a few months ago and it has been a fantastic vehicle. The blower kept randomly going on and off so brought it in and Alex was super in his communication and was the only mechanic there for the day. He was honest, personable and finished up the repair in a few hours even when he was unsure he could get it done. The price was extremely fair and I thought it would be a reasonable amount more than I was charged, so so happy with J&S and will always bring my vehicle there! Thank you Alex!! Lisa
My son test drove two vehicles and bought one of them, I was mainly the transportation. The employees were friendly and helpful, and it was a very easy purchase. There wasn't a salesperson who came out to answer or ask questions, and there was no pressure to buy. Perfect used car dealership for introverts!!
I was on my way from Fargo to the Devils Lake area and was had passed Hillsboro when I started hearing clunking noises coming from the front of my vehicle. I was able to get to the J & S office. The lady in the office was very friendly and got in touch with Alex to see if he would stop into the office to look at my vehicle before he left town for the car auction. Alex agreed to stop. He also was very friendly and helpful and was willing to take the time to figure out what was wrong. Three of the lug nuts on one of my front tires were loose and one had broken off, so only had one tight lug nut. Alex took the time to tighten all the lug nuts and checked them on all my remaining tires. Alex did this at no cost to me. This excellent customer service will continue to make this business very successful!!! Thanks a lot Alex for allowing me to arrive safely at my destination.
I prefer to buy from Jim and Shawn I usually pick out 3 or 4 vehicles and test drive until I find the one that feels best to me. Since moving here in the Grand Forks North Dakota area I have bought 4 vehicles from them. I usually keep a used vehicle only 2 years or 3 tops. Their vehicles (the ones I've bought) are very dependable and closest you'll find around(in my opinion) that has vehicles closest to being priced accordingly. i bought a chevy equianox vehicle from them recently on friday, and it had few problems, and they helped me right away, got me an appt right away, and fixed what needed to be fixed, and the woman in front office was very respectful and helpful also, and the mechanic. best expierence at a used car dealership.. and my title came in very quick also, even told me if any more issues call them back..
Read the one star reviews! I bought two vehicles from them. Neither made it a year on the road. First one had a bad alternator which they kindly replaced since it died a week after I bought it. Then the transmission self-destructs 9 months later.
Second vehicle had engine light on more than off. Water leak in head and went through quarts of oil. Comprehensive fuel system failure. Left stranded on highway.
THEY SELL DANGEROUS VEHICLES UNSAFE AND PIECED TOGETHER TO GET THEM OFF THEIR MUD CAR LOT. SKIP SUPPORTING SMALL TOWN BUSINESS, nothing here but scammers.
Alex who works in the shop helped fix our fender and change our tire after the tread on the tire was ripped off on the highway. Alex worked Efficiently and quickly, we were back on the road in about 10min. Overall great Shop and Alex should get a raise?
I would recommend any families looking to buy a used car for their kids to visit with Alex. My son bought a car from J& S Auto that had an unknown issue. I bought a saturn vue from here. You are able to get good vehicles at a good price because they dont have much overhead in fact they only have two people doing most of the work. They are a stickler about thier reputation so they are not going to sell you a lemon. They just auction those off.

Sold me a vehicle told me nothing was wrong with it. Didnt even make it back to the interstate check engine light came on. Been in the shop more and i have driven it. Nothing but lying crocks that want money for piss poor vehicles that should be crushed for peoples safety versus used for income. ?
Just bought a car from J and S auto sales Friday and after I got the car home there was a very minor problem. I called Monday and they got me in to take a look at that same day. Alex was really great when it came to explaining things and has great customer service skills. I definitely recommend getting a vehicle from them.

My first visit I test drove a vehicle that was in serious bad shape an smelled liked it took a swim in a river! Second vehicle I actually purchased an took straight to shop to have an oil change an there was gasoline in oil tank ,that wasn't even the worse part the SUV didn't drive in reverse! The only good thing that came out of my visit there was that I was able to get my money back!!
I highly recommend taking a mechanic with u if you plan on buying a vehicle from this place!
