Feb. 2025: Mike is truly heaven sent! 😇Another "heavenly" auto shop in Indian Trail (that shall remain nameless) quoted me nearly $9,000 for repairs needed to pass inspection, suggesting extensive and unnecessary work on my older but well-maintained vehicle. Mike provided an honest assessment, identified the actual issues, and got my car through inspection with repairs costing less than $300. I highly recommend Mike at University Auto for his integrity and excellent service! April 2020: I dropped my vehicle off to be checked after noticing it was shaking a little while parked. It was thoroughly inspected & quickly repaired with what was necessary to get me back on the road. No long list of "recommended services" here. Honesty is a 100% guarantee at University Auto. Thank you, always! January 2020- I popped in the day before my plate expired for a state inspection. Mike & his team promptly inspected my vehicle & replaced my headlight bulb. I was back on the road all within 35-40 minutes. Consistently OUTSTANDING service! November 2019: The most professional and honest repair shop you'll visit in the state of NC! After receiving a huge "recommended repair" bill in October from a local Firestone auto care center, Mike offered to provide me with a second estimate the same day free of charge. Not only did he take the time out of his busy schedule on a rainy day to re-inspect my vehicle, he also reviewed the paperwork I received from Firestone and explained the recommendations to me so that I could see that some were 100% bogus. He did confirm that my vehicle needed an oil change and it was successfully completed a few weeks later. I highly recommend this business to anyone who is in need of a repair shop that values honesty & provides quality work. The prices are reasonable, the wait time is minimal and the atmosphere is friendly.

Boy howdy, was I lucky to find UAC!!! I’m in Monroe for work and my vehicle started smelling like gasoline. This made me feel pretty urgent about getting it fixed, but I don’t know anyone here! Some other shops directed me to Mr Mike and he solved my problem very quickly and at a super fair price!!! Hiiiiighly recommend!!!!

I could not say enough about how amazing this shop and team are. They went above and beyond to help a stranded Mama with four babies and a dog in the middle of a road trip. My car suddenly broke down and I frantically sought a mechanic to help me right away. Mike and his team fit us in, rushed our car through to keep my babies from having to wait hours and hours, and he put his best guys on the job. I am so so grateful for the service and the kindness.

Awesome customer service and friendly folks, along with explanations of what is being done and why that are easy for folks that aren't mechanics to understand. I took my VW here to get the brakes done, and a fuel leak, along with a BUNCH of other work and Mike had me in and out 2 days. My car is running great now. I also had my other half take her car in to get checked out after a fender bender and Mike was able to get some brake issues and other problems fixed on her car so it could be driven again. We'll definitely be back with our cars, and love having someone local we can trust that won't gouge our wallets. Highly recommended!

I was sent to this shop by the local Chevy dealer because of their ability to fix my diesel truck. I am a hotshot driver on the road and came to them late on a Friday not expecting to leave for a few days which meant lost money for sure. They really went above and beyond to help get me back on the road needless to say they got me back on the road before the weekend and back making money I would highly recommend this shop to anyone needing work done I didn’t go to this shop by reviews but by word of mouth and was extremely satisfied with attention they gave my duramax and being a family owned business in a sea of corporate run shops it was a great find for sure. Please use their shop if you need anything and help keep small business running strong 💪

Took my 2001 Mustang to University Auto they put a motor in it. No problems.Had to wait before I wrote this review because I didn't want to get too happy. Drove car for about a month and a half and I'm still happy.I was very Impressed they took me in the back to show me the old motor and what went bad on the old motor.I would highly recommend University Auto to anyone. This was my first time at University Auto won't be my last.

Was recommended by a coworker and saw all the reviews on honesty and good work so I called an set an appointment for them to take a look at my Jeep. Now I had already taken it to the dealership and was given the run around and a estimate that was over 4 times the amount they were able to take care of it for. No up selling or swindling here. Will be recommending them and using them for any future needs. Oh! They also managed to get the parts and fix it in in under 24 hrs. That stealership couldn’t even get the parts in for another 3 days and told me to expect to not have it back for at least a week. Thanks again Mike!

I dropped in to ask them to take a look at my brakes. Mike and I went for a test ride and he determined that the noise I was hearing was the tires, which needed to be rotated. Mike was honest with me and told me that I could get a little more mileage out of the brakes. I appreciated his honesty so I asked him to go ahead and rotate the tires and replace the brakes any way. Why wait? They did a fine job at a very fair price. The best part of the whole experience was the great customer service I received. That's hard to find these days. I have 4 vehicles and I'm glad I finally know who to trust with their care. Thank you, Mike!

University Auto is ALWAYS great, honest and reliable. They have helped me out more times than I can count with numerous issues. Even when I was stranded when my brakes gave out and called him for advice on what to do. He found me a tow company (that helped save me money!!) told me the risks of what I was possibly dealing with and my best course of action. He fixed them no problem. One time, I took my car to the dealership and they quoted me more than the car was worth for the repairs $2,000+ and Mike fixed it under $400 and what they diagnosed as wrong with my poor Honda Accord was completely wrong. Mike is simply the best mechanic I've ever known, kind and personable. He explains things to you so you understand it! Never hesitate to bring your car here! So thankful they are always there!!
