Curtis helped me out of a pretty unique situation last week. I was locked out of a vintage car and we had to take some serious care not to destroy the door seals and jams to get to the lock mechanism. We wrestled with it for over an hour, but He didn't give Up. We finally got it and give each other a pretty big hug after. Felt like we won together that night in the parking lot!

Towed car from a business while I was inside the business for a scheduled appointment. Was told there was nothing to be done by a very condescending rude woman who straight up lied about what was posted at the business. Plus they upcharge using a credit card just to make sure to make it easier to pocket your cash payment im sure.

If you are looking for a reliable towing service, I highly recommend Barnes Towing Company. After needing a tow, I contacted the company and explained my situation. Once I shared details and sent photos, they promptly provided the cost and dispatched assistance to my location within 45 minutes. The tow itself was completed in less than 10 minutes.
This occurred after another company informed me that they could not assist due to weather conditions. Despite the challenging weather, Casey from Barnes Towing Company arrived, handled the situation professionally, and ensured my vehicle was safely towed. The experience was efficient, transparent, and stress-free during a difficult situation.Feb 04, 2026 -
I had an awesome experience with Casey from Barnes Towing. He arrived on time to tow my car to my service location. During my trip with him, I asked numerous questions about winter weather driving after snow and ice storms. He kindly answered my questions, and I’m grateful for the lessons.

EDIT - After leaving my original review below, the manager of Barnes towing reached out to me and explained that the lady answering the phone was intending to say that my vehicle was NOT drivable and therefore couldn’t be stolen (I was worried about leaving my keys in it). This simple misunderstanding in the context of a very, very bad day for me led me to feeling super frustrated and dissatisfied, leading to my original review.
I really wasn’t expecting a response from the business. In 2026 we live in a world of auto answering machines and AI-powered surveys so the manager calling me personally to make sure we talked about this and clarified what the intention was is huge to me. I can easily see how the staff member could have misspoke slightly and I could have assumed the worst since I was already having a horrible day.
Kudos to the staff at Barnes for reaching out to make sure we were on the same page and that I felt comfortable calling them again if I ever need towing. They truly do care about you as an individual. I would 100% recommend them. I’m leaving my original review below for context but know that if you want a small business towing company that actually cares about your feedback and wants you to have the best experience possible, you should pick Barnes.

[ORIGINAL REVIEW]
5 stars for the guy who called me and towed my vehicle. Prompt. Professional. No complaints.
1 star for the woman on the phone who, when I called to ask when a tow truck would arrive, stated “I hope you don’t take offense to this, but it sounds like your vehicle is drivable” with zero information about the accident or what happened. I had to use them as they are who my insurance company picked but if I was to choose I would choose somewhere with more professionalism. It’s already hard enough being rear-ended in an accident where you are not found to be liable and weren’t doing anything wrong but it definitely makes it harder when it feels like you’re having to convince the tow company to… tow a vehicle.
My other interactions were fine but I just wanted to voice this and remind people that it costs nothing to be kind.Feb 03, 2026 -
Got stuck in the ice and never thought I’d get out but they winched me out with no problems even though I had the e brake on and forgot my keys!

Barnes Towing saved the day. Great job. AAA came out and told me they couldn’t help. AAA said I would have to wait until my driveway thawed which will be over a week.

Update: Unfortunately I have to knock off 3 stars from my original review! While I’m still very happy with my service, I discovered through my insurance that this company willingly went against their contract and doubled charged for their towing services. Both my insurance and I got a bill and sent payment for the same service. Now I have to go through a reimbursement process because I didn’t actually have to pay. My insurance company is not happy about this and neither am I!
Got my grooming van out of the ice and back on the road! I went a little too far down an icy neighborhood and got stuck. Bill arrived on time and was ready to help! He gave clear instructions that made this stressful situation a lot easier to handle. He got my van out safely and I was back on my merry way! Lesson learned and thankfully everyone and the van is ok. Thanks again Bill, for keeping Kawaii K9 Mobile Grooming LLC on the road!Jan 28, 2026 -
Came out and fixed the lights on our 53ft Kentucky trailer, driver back on the road. If i could leave 10 stars i would. Thank you

Bill took great care to transport my 1955 Jeep; very professional and delivered it right into my garage. Highly recommended.

Daniel, the tow truck driver & chief rescuer, was FABULOUS!!! He was kind, expertly got my car out of the ditch & made sure my car was safe to drive. I can’t sing his praises enough. Many, many, many thanks to Daniel. My hero!

Daniel did a fantastic job of picking up a shed and moving it to our property. Very professional and courteous. We have already recommended Barnes Towing to our friends.

I called Barnes at 5pm on a Friday to try to get my big, heavy Sprinter campervan towed. They were quick and the least expensive of the places that actually answered the phone. An emergency tow is never fun, but they made it as painless as possible. I've saved their number in case I ever need another tow in and around Raleigh.

Got a flat on Pea ridge right off of HWY 1 at 5am, Barnes was out to help get me to the nearest tire shop within an hour. Bill, the driver, was extremely professional, kind, and helpful during a stressful time. Will always recommend Barnes Towing, great service, great pricing.

I experienced an involuntary tow that felt extremely predatory. I was charged $360 in cash and told it would cost over $100 more if I used a card. When I asked about disputing the charge, they refused to accept card payment at all and required cash only. After paying, they sent me a link for my receipt, but the link only produced an error and showed no record of the transaction (see image). The combination of high fees, cash‑only pressure, and a non‑working receipt link left me very concerned about the transparency and professionalism of this business.

Ashley was very helpful to my dad and I. We didn’t have to wait long thank goodness because it was very cold. Jason was awesome and took great care to get us home safely. Thank you everyone!!!

They have towed my Ford F350 long bed twice over the last year and both times got to me in a timely manner and the driver was very professional. I highly recommend this company.

After hours request (in Chatham County) to help transport a golf cart home with a dead battery/wouldn’t turn on AND the emergency brake would not release (so wheels wouldn’t turn/roll). Somehow - late evening in the dark - he managed to pull it up onto the bed like MacGyver using soapy water, oil, or some other lubricant…then, to get it off onto our driveway, he leveraged gravity and repeated movements of the bed up and down to guide it to the driveway with the greatest of care. I thought it was really loud, but everyone in our alley said they didn’t even know it was going on - so he definitely exercised caution to not wake my neighbors up who had gone to sleep. The whole event was super impressive, a lifesaver, and he was like “yeah, no big deal…”. But I can assure all who read this - it was in fact a big deal. While it was a bit pricy, it was reasonable, especially given the amount of time necessary to complete the job (at least an hour) and the time of the call - after 9 or 10pm. Highly recommend, I just wish I could remember the guy’s name for a more specific shout out!

Being in a state of distress is never on anyone’s list early in the morning, but Barnes towing has always been reliable and caring. Knowing that they had my back means a lot. They picked my car up, and got me to my destination safely. Its always a 10 out of 10 experience the team is amazing and I am appreciative for their fast and punctual service and I will always recommend them

So this was definitely the best towing/jump start experience of my life. Of course, I was in hotel parking lot 1000+ miles from home when my car completely failed to start. Triple A (I’m a member with 100 mile plus towing had already come - failed to jumpstart my 2023 Mercedes Sprinter van and gave me the incorrect information that my alternator had died) …. I rented a car and was at the Mercedes dealership when I saw the Barnes towing truck in their lot - I walked up and spoke to BIll who was driving it - he said perhaps he could jump it but he could for sure either jump it or get it dealship within the next hour. He started the van first try and then followed me back all the way to the dealership to make sure I got there safely. He solved in 5 minutes what had already taken 5 hours. Honestly would give them 10 star if I could and Guadiana angel wings!

Barnes is the best! I have AAA but don’t use them if local and would rather pay Barnes put of pocket. Rather than wait many hours, Barnes is there usually within minutes. They are courteous, experienced, efficient and make it easy with text invoicing/payment and drivers call and keep you informed.

I had Jason come out today to help me with a flat tire, and he was absolutely amazing! He was thorough, explained exactly what happened to my tire, and even took the time to coach me on tire care and pressure—things I had no idea about. He was so kind, knowledgeable, and genuinely great at what he does. Highly recommend asking for Jason!!!!

Experienced a flat tire, in the dark, on a country road about an hour from home. Unfortunately my car does not have a spare. My first and only call was to Barnes towing. Not only was I confident that my car would arrive safely but I felt comfortable riding along with the driver. Thanks for being there for us.
Nov 03, 2025 -
Poor to no customer relations. I had put in the request through my insurance app that there were gonna be riders but then the driver showed up with a buddy saying they didn't see there would be extra people. He then pulled up the order and it clearly said 2+ riders and called dispatch letting them know but their only option they offered was take the car and leave us. Before they even got off the phone with dispatch, she had already canceled it and they were on their way. No remorse, empathy, or understanding showed, nor any possible want to work anything out even though it was their mistake. None of the employees I interacted with had any responsibility

Barnes towing is predatory and abusive to our community. I completely understand that towing can serve a useful function, but both the practices and pricing of this business are inhumane and should be illegal.
I went to get my nails done and when I arrived I realized that my blood sugar was low and I needed a drink or snack to care for my body while my nails got done. I walked around the corner and picked up a drink, came back 5 minutes later to get my nails done. When I came out 1.5 hours later my car was gone, and Barnes would not release my car even after being asked to do so by the employees (who verified that I was at their business), property manager and police. Not only that, they evaded my questions, lied to me, and were dismissive about the impact of their practices. I was out in the cold without a jacket and in flip flops, and they said that since I lived a 15 min walk away it was not a big deal. They also warned me immediately that price goes up every day they have possession, as well as if you need to use a card to pay. I am so sad that people treat each other this way and that chapel hill and carrboro haven't been successful in regulating them. I plan to take them to court, using the police report I filed, and seek damagesOct 24, 2025 -
Proceed with extreme caution when dealing with this company. Highly recommend recording all interactions. I wasn't notified at all about my car being towed until I called them. Signs were not posted at all entrances, only one sign at one of two entrances and one sign in the middle of the parking lot. Not to mention their signs have a bolt blocking one of the numbers so I had to guess a few times in order to get through correctly. Once in their decrepit front office, they failed to validate the true owner of the car and didn't follow their posted vehicle release procedures (Pictures provided). They failed to provide any information on the management company they called or who they spoke with to confirm my car was to be towed so I couldn’t verify anything that was mentioned. No forms were provided or signed; as soon as they got the money, they gave the car back with nothing in print. Offered a "discounted" price if paid in cash, in quotes because they have a history of overcharging. Not even accredited with the Better Business Bureau. Whilst it’s not required, it just shows their lack of respect and responsibility for the people in their communities. BBB has their rating at an F for failing to respond to complaints against the business (Pictures provided). Long history of being investigated for their tow practices. Even longer history of complaints (Pictures provided). I understand tow companies may not have the best reputation, but it’s not everyday that a tow company sues the town they operate within. Extremely predatory, unethical, and exploitive tow practices. To wrap this up, do your research and follow the money.

Owner states policies that aren’t even written and makes her own rules. Had her man take a picture of my license and debit card on his personal phone. I asked to see the policy about storing financial information and she states there isn’t one. Then had her lil minion come out to try and fight because I kept asking about the policy. Unprofessional and aggressive. They have people sitting waiting like predators in a McDonald’s parking lot to tow your car. Get cash before you go because they will charge 150$ more if you use a debit card. Not to mention that they have you sign a consent to use the card so the need to store on his personal device is invalid but I am watching and nothing better attempt to be used or I will sue for the whole company. Record your interactions with this company because they are janky. Included is the photo of the man who stored my financial information on his personal cell and the minion who almost got beat up.
