This company was provided to me as part of Tesla’s roadside assistance program. The driver Nate was very open about communication, timely, and extremely nice to talk to as I had to take an hour ride back to the dealership. Nate should receive more recognition for his work and I highly recommend him if you have a choice of driver for this company.
Most rude receptionist ever. Absolutely no people skills what so ever. I'm sure she deals with difficult people from time to time but doesn't give her the right to scream and be hateful to everyone.
Got into an accident yesterday morning and they towed my car here. $250 and it was only here for 24 hours, after we called about them yesterday asking how much it would cost to get it out today. We weren’t told $250 on the phone. Sounds like shady business practices.
The girl is rude and nasty hung up on me twice and tried to lie and say she put me in hold wouldn’t help me at all the worst customer service and their prices are high as hell I would not recommend go somewhere else with your business but if you want bad customer service and wanna jump through hoops and hurdles then go for it this is the place!!!
I don't recommend this towing company. The towing price is about 50% higher than the market price. For vehicle transport companies like ours, we need to stack several trucks together for towing. We have connections with towing companies all over the United States, and they also do similar work, removing the front wheels, releasing the brakes, and removing the drive shafts. The average price is $200-400. This company charged $562.20 and did not provide tire removal, drive shaft removal, and brake release services. They only provided a lifting truck.
Car got impounded fast easy transition due to my situation. A little costly because my car got impounded friday charged me for the weekend which I feel is bullshit. But other than that it's am okay place .
I have had to use Gate City on several occasions and have nothing but high praise for the people and equipment. Always professional. Prompt and efficient.
Gate City was fantastic. I was in a gnarly accident on I85. As someone who isn’t local, I relied on the state trooper to call a group that was reputable. It was early in the morning and they came right out. I had not been in this situation before so I asked what it would cost to tow it back to Charlotte. They got me a quote but the driver was honest and straight up and told me that can always be arranged after the fact when insurance gets involved. Decided to have it towed back to their tow yard to keep their until insurance was able to get it towed somewhere for an adjuster to take a look. The driver let me ride back with him. My car drivers side windows were shattered in the accident, and the team went above and beyond and taped up the exposed area to protect my interior from the elements (3 days of rain was ahead). This is not something they were required to do but it meant a lot to me that they did this during a very stressful time. The car ended up being totaled in the end, however the whole team provided great service. I waited for a ride in the lobby area and the staff were all very nice and pleasant. I hope to never be in this situation again, however, they made the horrible day a little bit better.
I was 100% willing to pay for their services when they actually got my wrecked car to the body shop they agreed to take it to, but they instead took it to their lot and didn't bother getting in touch with me. I hope you enjoy the consequences of your foolishness. Just because the cops use them doesn't make them a good business. You're lucky I can't give negative stars.
Terrible customer service! Rude! We tried to get our car off the lot, (it was in a wreck, not our tow choice) they wouldn't allow us to simply put on a spare so that we could drive it home, they said it was a liability, fine. We asked if they could tow it to our house, 1st the lady at the desk said maybe, but it could be a few days. Fine, let's just get it home. Then she calls back and said they don't have a tow truck, it's broken. It would be 2 weeks before they could tow it. If you want it, find another tow company or it can sit here but we would owe the daily storage fee, she said. GENTRY towing to the rescue! He Brought a truck, hooked it up and brought it to our house. Gate city had the SAME tow truck sitting there, 1 actually left for a call as I was watching Gentry hook up our car. Absolute laziness and no compassion for a PAYING customer.
Damaged my car when the driver was towing a ups cab. Denied it he was speeding and almost caused a 5 car accident when he ran off the road!! He kept going!! yes I did contact the owner have video of him telling me to turn it into my insurance! the day before Allison denied that there tow truck did it but acknowledged yes they were pulling a ups cab! shady company and the owner is even more careless! video the whole entire visit with him and gave it to my lawyer.
Called for a tow - danced around helping me and just were concerned about the money and how we were paying. Wouldn’t even give me an eta or price. I also asked if I could provide pictures or videos of what my driver was dealing with so they could see and it was back to how will you pay mam ?
The finest people and wrecker service Ever! I would recommend them for all of your towing needs. Its family owned and they treat you well! Very polite and was fast getting too me and towing my semi truck to be worked on. Thank you all for what you do!
My daughter was involved in and accident on a Friday evening and this company was called by the police officer. The driver was courteous and seemed like he was at least trying to be helpful. However, he never disclosed that the price to tow the vehicle approximately 5 miles back to their shop would be $220+, and there would be $25/day storage fee over Memorial Day weekend even though the office was closed which would prevent us from retrieving the vehicle. The office staff are not as courteous and don’t even pretend to be helpful. This company is just not honest or trustworthy.
If these guys show up to the scene of an accident you’ve been involved in, you are getting wrecked all over again!!
Justifying price gouging by saying, “Someone else sets maximum we can charge” or “If you have full service insurance they will pay” proves the point, these guys are not trustworthy!! Definitely look elsewhere if you have any choice.
Based on the reputation of most towing companies, i.e. bad attitudes, rude service, rip off prices and cost! No, not Gate City Towing, unlike the rest, they provided professional customer service and concern, had pleasant attitudes and did not have outrageous or rip off charges. Thank You Gate City Towing
Hoping this serves as a warning for any future customer. Had a truck towed here after a car accident. Truck had an expensive vintage plate screwed on the front, which was left on for appraisal purposes. When the truck was finally towed back home, we noticed the plate had been taken off. We contacted the business and received the worst customer service imaginable, even after spending over 1K in fees there. Owner was defensive and told us it was not his problem and he couldn't do anything about stolen items since my husband signed a "waiver". Was hung up on after asking for a copy of said document. Just because a "waiver" is signed does not give anyone the right to steal from a customer. Owner/business' response was uncalled for and completely unacceptable. Definitely not a way to do business! The "company" that towed our vehicle from your shop, is one and the same. So thank you for confirming that your own employee stole our plate. Stop considering your shop "secure" if items are being stolen off of the vehicles in your possession. Just proves how corrupt and unprofessional this "business" is.
11 PM Just moved out here know no one. My spare popped. Called these guys too get a tow and they said they have no tow truck available on The Weeknd’s only for 18 wheelers... WHAT?
I have used Gate City Towing on two occasions to date both times I spoke with Allison. She was very professional and took care of my request. My trucks were picked up and delivered by a professional when promised and at a fair price for the service rendered. I will continue to use Gate City for all my truck towing needs. Thanks Guys
My truck broke down outside of Greensboro last night. I have used a mechanic in Greensboro in the past, so I knew exactly where I needed it towed to. I called Gate City towing and spoke to a very nice lady who explained to me that the rate would be $185/hr. That sounded quite fair to me. I explained to her that the shop opens at 8am, and she advised that the truck would be on site at 7am to haul my truck. The trip from the shop to my truck was 13 mins, and to the shop another 11 mins, and back to the shop another 13 mins (37 mins total drive time with zero traffic due to covid) At 530 in the morning I got an annoying call from the office asking a bunch of questions that quite frankly should have waited until 630, and that gentleman told me that the truck would be there at 700am. The truck actually showed up at 630 am, had to wait for me to come down from my hotel room (which cost me additional time as they charge by the hour). They ended up charging me just shy of $500, for 2 1/2 hours of time. They sent the truck 1/2 hour prior to the time we had agreed on, and when we arrived at the shop at 730, of course they were not open, so that cost me more time figuring out where they could drop the truck. If they had stuck to the time frame that was actually dictated by them, the cost would have been an hour less. I ended up paying for 2 1/2 hours, when the total drive time from there shop to me, to the repair shop, and back to their home base was 37 mins in total. I called the shop when the driver (who was a really good, and hardworking guy) gave me the price that was dictated to him by their office. The man in the office just kept repeating it is what it is, and he’s just the guy that answers the phone. So I got off the phone, and proceeded to pay the driver, and while doing so, the owner calls the driver and says take the truck if he doesn’t pay. That was the icing on the cake! Not only do you rob me, but you then insinuate that I am a thief like you. Even though I was obviously not dealt with in an ethical business sense, I’m not going to conduct myself in the same fashion. Unfortunately I’ve had the opportunity to have my truck towed several times since I’ve owned it. This was the absolute biggest rip off I’ve ever encountered by far. I will 100% spread the word amongst the hundreds of contacts that I have in the trucking business that run the I-85 corridor to avoid these guys. They don’t keep the schedule that they set, and you pay the price for it.
