We had an amazing stay at Fontana Lodge! One of the absolute highlights was Jay, the shuttle driver. He went above and beyond—so friendly, helpful, and just made the whole experience smoother. If you stay here, you have to say hi to Jay—he’s the best!

My father in law and mother in law, my husband, myself, our 9 yr old son, and my 12 yr old sister came here from Michigan and pulled a pleasure boat with us. We took a 30 mile road from Knoxville, TN down to Fontana. This road was narrow and I was sure I’d end up in the ravine which was forever below us. Scared to death, but did arrive at Fontana for the best vacation of my life. My husband’s Dad was always trying to get one of us to walk with him over mountains to the far-tar (fire tower). Our son was not allowed to say DAM, but he was always asking grandpa, if they could walk down to the dam to see the Dam lights. He thought that was so fun. It was a wonderful week and the best memories of all my travels. I believe it was 1965 or 1966. Sure wish we could repeat that week. The BEST week ever.

Our 2nd stay in this hotel and they did a great job renovating the rooms/bathrooms. It is the closest to the Tail of the Dragon so very convenient. The place was beautifully decorated for the holidays! The staff were very nice and friendly. I would suggest getting a better brand of coffee pods and microwave for the 2nd floor. I saw one on the 1st floor. I also noticed the vending machine was almost empty. Please tell your housekeeper not to vacuum the hallway early like around 9am. Other than that, our stay was great! Will def stay here again.

Nestled out of town quietly secluded next to the Great Smoky Mountains Natuonal Park. This hidden gem has extremely comfortable rooms, wonderful dining options and exceptional service. Everyone there was so nice and accommodating. Room had 3xtremely comfortable bed, large balcony with fantastic mountain views. This Resort is only a few minutes from downyown Bryson City as well as Rilobbinsille. A very quaint General Store is Lodge check in and boasts a full coffee bar as well as ice cream and an assortment of goodies. A wonderful Resort for a night or a week. Great for families as well as a couples getaway

This picturesque resort was perfect for my daughter’s wedding. We had a glorious experience. Accommodations were great and the staff attentive and kind. Both Hazel’s and Dam Garage had decent food. Lodging options were good too!

I have been camping at Fontana Resort for over 40 years, and this was by far the worst experience I’ve ever had. The new ownership has completely ruined what used to be a wonderful place. Prices have skyrocketed, and I suspect dishonest practices at the front desk — one morning I was charged $8 each for three breakfast sandwiches, and the very next day they were only $2.50 each. It certainly felt like someone was pocketing the difference. I've also had over $300 in unauthorized charges appear on my statement since leaving a few days ago. The bathhouse was disgusting and unusable — toilets overflowing, feces on the floor, and no effort made to clean or repair anything. Meanwhile, they’ve apparently spent thousands on pumpkin decorations for the registration area, but can’t manage to maintain basic sanitation. To make matters worse, we were told we had to leave early because they were “closing the campground,” even though the sign at the entrance clearly says “Open 365 days per year.” Other campers were arriving and setting up while we were being forced to pack up. It’s heartbreaking to see a place I’ve loved for decades fall apart like this. Sadly, I won’t be returning — and I wouldn’t recommend anyone else waste their money here until major changes are made.

Charged my card without authorization. Had an annual reservation for a number of years. Two years ago I could not make it. Though I called in advance, they refused to refund my deposit, said they would roll it over for one year and then I would lose it. I was unable to make it that next year so lost the deposit. I have not stayed there for at least two years now. Suddenly they charged my credit card over $170. For two years I have not called them, emailed nor had any other type of communication with these people. When I called to see what it was about, they said it was for my deposit. I said what deposit!?! They said ok, so we will cancel your reservation. I said I didn't make a reservation!!! They said ok, we'll cancel it. Literally acted like I was in the wrong. No, nobody had the authorization to run the card in the first place. The last time I stayed there my patio door didn't even have a lock on it for the entire week I was there!!! They were like sorry, we're fully booked and don't have parts.

Love Fontana, if you like to drive for scenic views this is where you need to head. Go visit the marina and the dam. There are a couple ofnareas by the dam that the views are just outstanding. Also if you are looking for a place to stay Fontana Village is it. Get a group together and stay in a cabin.

We booked a stay in cabin 1308.This was an older manufactured home..with multiple issues. The mildew smell was so strong it took your breath. While i believe the staff is trying..you cannot clean decay. We left after one night.

10/17/25 & 10/18/25. Cleanliness of the room overall very poor. Multiple safety issues. Adjoining room door does not have a lock just a chain & a chair to keep in "secure". Smoke detector not functioning and no cover. Ceiling light rusted and hanging from ceiling. Shower door not functioning properly very difficult to move to enter or exit. Bathroom light missing cover. A/C missing grill and dirty. Entry door peep hole in door stuffed with paper. Mini fridge missing shelves. Not so critical : Single bar of soap. One decaf coffee pod. I would suggest closing these rooms until they are renovated and brought up to a standard worth paying for. Heath and safety would have a field day in these rooms. Some of these issues are considered illegal for occupancy. I would have a hard time recommending a stay here. This was my second stay and not much has improved. Don't judge the rooms by the pictures on the website...you will be disappointed.

Decided to take a family vacation and visit what used to be a great resort only to be left dissatisfied with the our cabin. Cabin was extremely dirty with mold growing on the ceilings as well as many other maintenance issues. We reported all issues with the office as well as sent a lengthy email and not one person has offered to reply or offer compensation. Spent over $900 for a 2 night stay in run down trailer they call a Cabin. Extremely sorry stay and we will not be back. Management is a joke and so are their so called cabins.

Been going here almost 10 years. Something has changed over recent years. The food has gotten a little slack but prices have risen. They seem to be understaffed. I still don't understand them moving the check in to the general store away from the beautiful lodge. They're pushing selling a bunch of overpriced hoodies and T-shirts too, so much that the restaurant is halfway full of merchandise. Next year I'll see if an Airbnb would be better. A positive is the updated internet.

Pontoon boat rental was easy. Staff was helpful getting us on the boat and giving us tips on where to go. We enjoyed every minute on the lake. Beautiful scenery and cool to see the floating cabins. What a gem this place is. We didn't stay at the resort as we were camping in the National Park.

I stayed here Friday October 10th and Saturday the 11th 2025. This is a specctacular location with unique acomodations. We had Quill''s Canteen on Friday for dinner. We were late comers and they were running out of many of their entres. I had a burger that was fine. We shared an appetizer that was excellent. It was nachos over homemade potatoe chips. We had breakfast at the restaurant in the main lodge, Hazel's. I had biscuits and gravy with a bowl of fresh fruit and coffee. The buscuits and gravy were okay but not great. The fruit was good and the coffee was okay but I recieved two refills; each was colder than the last. I don't recommend Hazel's. The room was fine but the Wifi was intermittant. I would go back but I might go offsite for food. I was surprised that many of the guest were car enthusiasts driving the dragon.

Third year going to Fontana for our 944 Camp with Porsche friends. We have had a 1 bedroom cabin every year. All have been sufficient to our purposes. They have a full kitchen so we make some meals in cabin. Cabins are clean enough, show some wear. The resort has made some improvements to restaurants and offer more amenities on site now. Its a great place for car/bike enthusiasts hitting the Tail of the Dragon as we do or families. There are pools open seasonally, a put put course, 2 playgrounds, and more. We will be back next year!

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Fontana Village Resort. We stayed in the lodge & had a beautiful room...very modern, yet clearly mountain themed, exceptionally clean. The service at the coffee shop, grill & bar was excellent. The casual food & coffee menus were quite good. Beautiful grounds, extremely well maintained. A highlight was the Fontana Marina historic boat ride around Fontana Lake. Captain Carl was a great historian & story teller! Overall, a great weekend in a beautiful location.

Stayed here many times with MINI’s in the Dragon in years past and had good experiences. Recently did a family trip in early October and it was awful. Very few guests yet somehow we literally got the worst cabin on the entire property. No covered deck, mismatched furniture too big for space, constant traffic from staff at crossroads, very poor tableware or amenities in cabin (not so much as a coffee filter) nor any soap or shampoo etc. Worse most on site activities already closed for season and hours for services shortened or closed (ice cream shop for example). And this was not advised on website or on prior phone calls. Also be aware trail systems here are not marked or mapped correctly nor maintained at all (which has been a problem for years past) so don’t count on hiking or mountain biking unless you enjoy bushwhacking seriously overgrown trails. A shame as this could be a real gem.

Rooms so dark you couldn't see, tv and coffee pot didn't work. Ate at the cafe which apparently they want to be fast food because food was served in to go bags. for the 180 plus dollars Hugh disappointment. Better to camp this was supposed to be a treat, but it was clean

Be aware…|On the telephone, I was quoted $140 per night. Ultimately, I was charged $220 per night. My $240 weekend turned out to be $440. Had I known this in advance, I would not have come. |My space was clean, but a dump. Lots of visible wood rot and rust and gerry rigged “repairs”. Very cheap linens and supplies. Rude and dismissive check-out staff. |Know what you’re getting!

Went here for a convention. Loved the layout of the place and the facilities. The only complaint I have is the restaurant charging a fee for me being an attendee to the convention. Forced gratuity is nonsense. The people working there do an outstanding job serving us. You don't have to force extra money out of me when they're already earning it with flying colors. Other than that, I really look forward to returning to this facility next year!

Well here goes a bad of a review on Fontana village. My wife and I have been going there for the last 2 years for our anniversary. Every time we go, we leave the facility cleaner than what it was when we got there. I just now called to make a reservation for this year and ask if we could get any type of a discount for being returned customers and the individual at the front desk said, No. I then asked to speak to the on site manager and he said the very same thing, No. It was as if I was bothering them by asking. They obviously done care to have return customers. Especially good ones. Needless to say, we will spend no more money with Fontana Village.

Went for a convention with 2 others. The room we had was 2 queen beds. Room was dirty and smelled like bleach, and the smell did not go away. Doors for restrooms would not close. We went to customer service, the only other room they had was 1 king size bed room. We had to make a bed on the floor for one of the people with us, and they wouldn't even provide extra blankets to assist with this. I asked for a half refund, it was for a single night. They declined saying they would provide a $50 refund and that was all. Terrible experience and annoying to deal with while there are others with us. If the room we asked for was prepared for us to safely use, I would have given a better review. The mountains in the area are beautiful, I wish the quality of the hotel could match.

Been to Fontana Village many times over the past four years, but prices have climbed and standards have lowered enough that my patronage has dwindled. The 3BR cabin we stayed at had a myriad of issues, ranging from holes in the walls, musty cabin air from unchanged filters and furniture with uneven legs which would easily create hazardous situations. We had booked the cabin early in advance at a preset rate, but when we picked up the keys, some hefty undisclosed fees were tacked on last second at the check-in desk. I cannot comfortably leave a positive review knowing that prices have soared but the quality of the cabins have lowered since my first experience at this location.

I want to start by saying I've been coming to Fontana Village for over 13 years now and the quality has greatly fallen and prices have risen the same amount. The new owners seem to be trying to charge more so they can make renovations instead of the correct way of investing. It's a horrible practice. Used to stay 8-12 times a year, now I go twice a year and that is slowly becoming 0. They've only been able to get away with what they have so far because there really aren't any other options in the area. Paying 400+ a night for a 3 bedroom cabin with half the doors unable to close, multiple holes in the walls, air filter not changed since APRIL, leaking fridge (and somehow stove?), ceiling falling down, water leaks. Just to name a few things. Holes in the floor in other cabins and black mold. If the new owners actually get to read this, shame on your and your practices. Do better.

The location and scenery is perfect. The grounds are kept very clean and it's very pleasant. Unfortunately, the cabin we stayed in last year as well as this year are in rough shape. Soft floors, peeling ceilings and very uncomfortable beds. Our cabin was downgraded and we were told rather rudely that we will not be adjusted in price. We were taken back by the situation. It really is a cool place to stay, hopefully when we come back next year there will be some changes in the right direction

Beautiful resort with so many activities offered . My husband and I went for the weekend with some friends and had a blast. From pontoon boat rides, arcade, putt putt golf , swimming, lazy River , fantastic restaurants and hiking trails to explore we had a fun filled relaxing weekend. The resort is magical with the most friendly and helpful staff who genuinely care about your experience.

For check in, make sure you pull into the gift shop / store, since gps takes you to the lodge !! There is no check in staff at the lodge. We came into town for a car rally, and this spot couldn’t have been more perfect. Its proximity to the Tail of the Dragon is unbeatable—literally the best place to be if you’re here to drive. During our stay, there were some seriously nice cars in the parking lot, which made the whole vibe even better. Me and 30+ fellow Lexus owners rolled in for the weekend and practically took over the lodge. The staff handled it like pros—super friendly and accommodating. The place itself was clean, well-kept, and felt surprisingly modern (only in the lodge). If I had to nitpick, the ice machine being on the far side of the lodge building was a little inconvenient, the out door ledge of our room had some missing trim on it but honestly that’s minor. The internet was fast and reliable, which made a huge difference since there’s absolutely no cell service in the area. Was able to do some work from my laptop. All in all, it was an awesome experience. I’m already looking forward to making this an annual tradition with my club whenever we’re back for the rally.

Beautiful setting. Resort is miserably mismanaged. My reservation was confirmed by email with a confirmation number and I received a call a week later that there was an error and I could not reserve that cottage.i was able to make a different reservation for a different time in a cottage that was not my first or second choice ( 8 months ahead) Front desk was inexperienced and uninformed. No one seemed to be in charge. |Staff members were not considerate. 4 of them with 3 vehicles parked within 40 feet of our cabin where we were very clearly relaxing on the porch and had a 1.hour and 45 minutegossip and complaint session. We could hear every word. Another time we had 2 of the cleaning staff arguing loudly between 2 cottages. |Our “Housekeeping Cottage” that sleeps 6 and costs $350 per night had 3 coffee cups 1 teaspoon and not enough equipment, dishes and silverware to make and serve a simple meal. I requested more coffee cups but never received them. I then gave up on ther kitchen. |The linen exchange did not work properly. When I left washcloths out for exchange, I received bath towels and a pot holder but no washcloths. |A beautiful natural setting Resort prices without the resort style accommodations and staffing. What a shame.

I absolutely loved my time here! The area is seriously beautiful. gorgeous creeks, mountain views, and just an overall peaceful vibe. We did a boat tour that was super fun and ended up playing the putt putt course multiple times. The only downside was that we accidentally booked during a 3-day Porsche meet. The restaurant was slammed during dinner every night, and there were some entitled folks revving their engines in the middle of the night which made it really hard to sleep. Other than that, it was an awesome trip. I’d definitely come back just not during car rally weekend next time!

It’s falling apart, completely abandoned and dirty. Everything is broken, nothing works. Sad.
