If ya got scrap this is a good place to take it. The people are not too friendly, but what do you expect at a scrap yard. :)
We have been told that Gordan recyclers pays more, but they are closed on weekends.
Don't take scrap I took 20 pounds of copper and when I even ask the guy that weigh it what wait was and he said 20 pounds but got to pick up my money and only paid me for 12 pounds and would not fix it so if you want to have someone take your hard earned money they sure will and will not correct it
Workers had no idea what austenitic stainless steel was, and relied on a magnet to test unmagnetized stainless steel. I needed it gone regardless, but would've preferred a fair price.
poor communication is an understatement , was told we would have a 40 yard dumpster sent to the job site to load excess scrap metal in but never showed up even after repeated calls would not recommend to anyone.
Website says 5pm.. drove over 40 mins and got turned away at 4pm.. do better if your gonna close earlier change it on your website. And to top it all of no one even answered the phone either. Thanks for wasting my time and gas! Wont be back!
It has by far been one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had dealing with a place of this magnitude. I need to go on an early vacation just to clear my senses of what has happened to me. I don’t know if I can ever trust again but I hope to grow and be the best I can be.
I called them they said they closed at 2 but shut the gates an hour early got there at 1155am and they were closed with the gates locked stop lying to your customers its why we dont come there
I wish I would've read the reviews from other customers of the shylocks. I'm convinced that most of the parties working there are involved with Gordo "Alex" being the ring leader though he don't speak no English except he has perfect English to tell his worker that was helping me, he said "that's mine" they code your metal at receiving. I brought over 100 lbs of 240 wire aluminum and some smaller spaghetti wire . my ticket had 7 coded metals on it .
my cash ticket should've been well over 300.00 it was only 107.00 so I went back to receiving them directed back to the window where the manager told the scale guy to weigh my metal again and I also learned that not one thing on my ticket was coded for any metal above spaghetti wire. fastforward-
I'm standing over a Gaylord that doesn't even have half of the 240 wire in it and they are all tryna convince me that that is all of my wire. I brought that wire in I KNOW that's not all of it so I look in the Gaylord behind of it and start pulling my wire out that's when Gordo spoke English and told the scale guy "that's mine" I won't be going back there again and just know guys reading this review.
you can get 3 times what they are paying you at a legitimate recycle facility
the only ones making money at A1 are the ones that don't speak English
I've been waiting almost two weeks for a car pick up. I'm now being charged 250 dollars a day until it is moved. This is the most ridiculous service I've ever seen. The person that answers the phone barely knows what she is doing and often says she doesn't have answers for you when asking very simple questions. She's also lied to us several times.
WISH THERE WAS NEGATIVE STARS! THE WORST PLACE EVER!! NOT EVEN BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE JUST NO CUSTOMER SERVICE. I didn't know what I had before going up there and they basically stole around 200 dollars from me. Looking into what I can do about them now. Go somewhere else. A1 is a garbage organization.
I would give - 10 if I could. Liars and thieves. Took a complete vehicle. They paid incomplete. Asked before I went she said as long as the engine transmission and rear end were there it was complete. Said if the catalytic converter was on it that paid more. Liars and thieves. I'll drive the extra miles to go elsewhere. Crooks. Avoid at all costs
I called these people on Wednesday to have a car picked up on Thursday. They never called me back nor they never showed up. I call again Friday morning she said to let her call the driver. Guess what still haven't seen nor heard from them. They could have at least called and said we are backed will get with u when can. Never had a problem with them in the past. They need employees who care about there job and the ones taking there business to them.
Don’t waste your time. Dishonest and unprofessional office staff. It took almost a month for them to pick up vehicle. Took 3 phone calls as they didn’t even have my information after initial call. Car was complete, but was told incomplete. I was told over phone should receive around $400, but handed me check for $191 saying car wasn’t complete. Driver and I had conversation about factory cad converter on vehicle!! When lady realized I wouldn’t accept this she said “ok I will pay difference as if it was complete” and handed me additional $69. Walked away with $260 and feeling cheated. NEVER AGAIN!
For years I came to a1 and had few if any problems always helpful guys in the back especially sammie but things changed about 7 8 months ago the guys outside dont help you much anymore .the girls in the office are a joke there rude,, they get your prices wrong and if you ask them to do a price check with other local scrapyard they will tell you we dont do that ? Or we checked prices last week they need to rehire experienced office help I have came here since opening day but have started going other places mostly because the office doesn't no what there doing and are super slow at getting you paid and out and on your way
Have done business with A1 for years and never a problem but today they graded my material wrong and shorted me a $ 1.11 per pound on copper. Dishonest! Won't go back or recommend. Owned electrical business and sold scrap copper for over 40 years.
Good people, fair prices but their setup is NOT conducive to a quick in and out trip. They need to revise their scale/pay window setup and they'll get five stars all day long from me.
We had a great first time experience. The employees were kind and helpful; from the women at the front desk to the men who handled the scrap we sold.
We were paid honestly.
We weighed our scrap prior to taking it in and their weight matched what we calculated ourselves, so we feel that was done with utmost professionalism.
We will happily continue to do business here.
The guys that help me unload was friendly but I don't think the employees at the payout window was very honest. Took them to long to do a simple ticket. I think I got cheated a few dollars
They have everything under the sun. I would have loved to go back and spent my hard earned money. But the way we was treated I don't see how they stayed in business this long. Their lost money. Lol
Go here about 3 times a week. We always have a great deal of metal. Never since ive been here have we been ripped off. If you watch your weight and there prices. Idk how u get ripped off. They help us seperate our metals and always very promt. Your wait for money may take a bit longer. When u got 2 people in one office compared to 20 people outside there is a wait! All in all 5 stars! These people are good folks!
I was standing in line to get my pay out and a woman came out took my slip and my ID took me out of line and then I waited 44 minutes before I got back in line and then when I get to the window after watching them pay out at least 20 people who ALL got in line after she pulled me from line they do not apologize for the wait they do not have my ID and pay out ready to go . Then the owner blocks us in and talks to me like I am a dog when I ask him to move so that I can get out. He says I was not supported to park where I did OK so why can't someone put up a sign that says not to park in that space , why can't an employee politely ask me to move ? This is the rudest experience I have ever had. I would never treat a customer the way I was treated by this man.
Took some scrap wire today, waited in line an hour, and it had some yellow rope tangled in it. When it was my turn (after already being told by another employee they would cut the rope out and not to worry about it) I was told I had to get out of line and remove the rope myself and get back in line because they just didn't have the time. Well it took me all of three mins to remove the rope then I had to wait an additional 30 for the person they let jump ahead of me. This was ridiculous and one of the men was completely unapologetic and very rude. I won't be returning.
I am a knife maker and I came here looking for recycled spring steel. The man was able to point me right to it and even ripped a leaf spring off of a car for me. I got enough steel to make at least 7 or 8 large knives for 8 dollars. Can't beat the price and the service. Will definitely be back
Absolutely a disgrace of people and business. Would NOT recommend for a soul to do business with them! They will rip you off in a second. I wish you could leave a review with zero stars because they don't even deserve a half star.
