If I could give them negative stars I would!!! There's no organization at all , got people driving all around, nobody knows where to go or what to do, they really don't try to help u. Then on top of it they threaten to ban u if there's any trash they have to pick up, almost got banned for a gogurt underneath the drawers in the bottom of a fridge! We went to Southern Metals Recycling instead, which is only about 10 mins further up the road off 421 and it's a completely different experience! We will most definitely be going to Southern Metals Recycling from now on!!!
I used to sell scrap metal there,until I figured out they screwed me over 2 different ways, they short my weight on scrap steel, and cut price in half on copper radiator from what they quoted me on phone, from $1.50 lb, my ticked showed they only paid.75 cent. Don't trust them, won't use them again
We're doing cleanup of family property and visited AIC having no idea what we were doing with all our junk. They've been so kind and helpful with sorting and giving us tips on how to make the most out of the mess we've got. I'd 1000% recommend them!
This where i scrap, and im not a pro or anything, i just get scrap metal from time to time and scrap it here. i prefer this place over all the other scrapyards i have visited, and i will tell you why: Nice people in the shop, office, everywhere. They are helpful, give advice and help you sort your stuff, all with a friendly smile... these shop guys are quick to help you unload, answer all your dumb questions with a kind sincerity, and despite the rough working conditions, actually seem to want to be there and value you as a customer and are proud of their job. I'll be back with another trailer full soon!
Update: Started going back to this yard after I heard they had new management. Experience since then has been excellent. No issues with copper or aluminum sorting since going back. Also started paying for THHN and evaluating items more favorably overall. Would recommend.
Original Review: I visit scrap yards about twice a month because my job generates a lot of copper and aluminum waste. This is one of the least honest and transparent yards. It's well worth the drive over the bridge to another yard. They will evaluate your items more fairly and pay slightly better prices.
My specific experiences:
I really wanted to like this yard because it's closer to my house but they've fallen short on both visits. As I said above, I'm pretty well versed in sorting scrap because I do it quite frequently. My first visit they would not pay extruded aluminum pricing for pieces that were clearly extruded (extruded aluminum is almost double the price). My second visit they paid #2 copper prices on clean and bright wire that they put in their #1 copper bin after they weighed it...and they weighted THHN and 50% wire at low grade prices. I won't be back and again I recommend any place over the bridge over this one.
SCAM CITY!! Do not waste your time and effort at this place. They ripped me off and I do not doubt they will think twice to do it to anyone else. I brought in over 30lbs of wire stripped from my house, post hurricane Florence flood. Half of the wire was stripped of insulation the other half was not. They did separate or go through any of the different types of copper in my big bag, and they threw it on and off the scale so fast only they can see the weights. My retail ticket says I brought in (15 gross), Lbs I assume, which is not correct. All in all, I received $16 for all of the wire from my entire first floor Which is 1200 sq ft. This is a shady business. Do not waste your time and let them take advantage of you!
