Huge shoutout to Martha and South Salem auto. My 1.5 year old car needed 3 new tires. Martha encouraged me to check in with the dealer even though the warranty expired—and it worked. Any business that tells me, “hold off on giving us your money just yet” is one I’d trust, and one I’ll be back to.

Would leave zero if I could. They had my car for over a month- never returned calls when checking on status update - told us finally after a month of follow that they couldn’t find the part becuase “they didn’t want to have to have a couple versions delivered and returned” and then too boot gave us back a car with a dead battery (it was a literal brand new battery when I dropped off)

Someone recommended South Salem Auto Care to me, and I honestly cannot recall having such a positive experience with car repair services. From the very beginning, everything was excellent —the communication, the work, the timing, and the price was more than fair. They made what is usually a stressful process feel smooth and easy. Thank you so much for an outstanding service!!!

I'm from Washington State. I bought a 96 GMC plow truck on Facebook Marketplace. I flew out there to pick it up and drive it home. The vehicle seemed to check out on visual inspection. Started having issues after about 20 minutes of purchasing it. I took it to South Salem and they diagnosed quite a few things wrong with it, parts we would need time to search for around the country due to its age. I found a flight home, left them a deposit for parts and they even drove me to the airport. They called me once repairs were finished so I flew out there. They picked me up from the airport and brought me to the truck. These people know their stuff and even went far above and beyond in their obligations. Martha and her staff are top notch. I wish we had South Salem Auto's here where I come from. Can't recommend enough!

Despite living only a couple of miles away; this was my first experience at South Salem Auto Care. It was nice to find a convenient family-owned business - Bruce and Martha were great! I got the NY state inspection done and plan on returning to get tires soon.

Was hoping to find a good local shop for the long haul but couldn’t have predicted such a poor experience. While they seem have done a good job installing my trailer hitch but Bruce was consistently less than pleasant to deal with. Lacked communication throughout process. Made an appointment for service that should have be a 1 day job. Car seemingly was not ready that day as I got no call on status. Day 2 I called at 8:30 and was told car was in bay, didn’t know status, would call back. No call. My wife called around 5 that afternoon to see if it was ready. They said yes and they’d be there til 6. We decided to wait till morning to get the car back. We get there and first thing out of Bruce’s mouth is he waited for me til 6. I decided not to discuss communication issues with him and simply said I was sorry. Bill for service was more than 4x hours what the tow hitch manufacturer said it would take a pro to do (I brought the hitch in)! Manufacturer supplied step by step detailed instructions. I understand they have reason to make things sound rosier than reality, but 3 hours vs. 40 minutes is pretty wildly divergent. Double? Triple? You decide what the right number might be. Icing on cake: my wife pulls out of shop and a mile down the road the tire pressure light comes on for a rear tire. She goes back and asks if someone can look and Bruce immediately says we didn’t touch the tire and she probably ran over something. Says it’s a whole new work order for someone to look. Shocked by his attitude she just asks if someone can put air in. He does agree to that. I guess he doesn’t need customers like me.

Great first experience at South Salem Auto after recently moving to the area from NYC. I love that it’s a local, family-owned business - Bruce and Martha are both excellent to deal with! Got NY state inspection, tires & wheel alignment done in a timely manner and at a fair price. Definitely my new go-to for auto care.

The best! Great work and excellent and friendly customer service. Transparent about costs and honest about services needed, I love the honest pricing but I really appreciate not worrying if I'm being overcharged and taken advantage of. I always have had a great experience at South Salem Auto Care.

Bruce and Martha run a great shop. A real neighborhood fixture, with all the trustworthiness, responsiveness and general neighborliness you would expect from an institution that has been taking care of the community since before you were born. Always great service, timely, effective, fairly priced, and trustworthy. I go there for everything for my three cars.

If I could give Bruce and Martha 15 stars, I would!! I brought my car here for a second opinion on a NYS inspection. I had previously taken my car to a chain store and was told I would need to replace my rear brake and rotors. They failed my car for the inspection. I knew this couldn't be true. I reached out to a friend to find a trustworthy place. Without hesitation, she recommended South Salem auto. They took me the same day and, lo and behold, told me there was nothing wrong with my car and my car absolutely passed inspection. Martha showed me and explained what the other place was trying to claim was wrong. If you're looking for a reputable, reliable honest mechanic, look no further than. South Salem Auto.

Absolutely amazing business. Period. Everyone there was so incredibly kind and honest and efficient. I knew upfront what was going to happen with my vehicle, and how much it cost. Martha is a phenomenal mechanic and Bruce is just a really fantastic guy. Will happily recommend them to everyone I know.

I came here from Yonkers after a friend recommended it for new tires and a wheel alignment. The service was great, both the techs and the owner were so nice and took care of me in a timely manner. He also gave me a really good price for all new tires. Definitely will be coming here again :)

Had such a great experience - Bruce was honest, friendly and answered my many questions. I'm so glad I found this shop because the prices are fair, they tell you everything they plan on doing to your car, and they provide great customer service. My car was finished within the hour. As an older, single, woman I have been scammed by auto repair people for years. I heard about this place through a friend and when I called Bruce couldn't have been nicer and gave me an estimate for half the price of a person more local to me had. Even though I live in Brewster, I arranged to take my car in. The job was completed on time and the repair was great. My car is better than ever. Most places give you a song and dance and charge you for a diagnosis even if you know what's wrong, They are dishonest! I highly recommend this place if you don't want to be robbed.

Saw all the great reviews and decided to get my car inspection done here. The reviews are right and now I’m adding my review to let others know I had a great experience. Bruce was very friendly, knowledgeable and honest. I called ahead of time to make an appointment and that I needed to wait for my car. He told me to swing by at 9am and would have me done by 10. He was done at 9:30. Great service! It’s located off the beaten path. I like to patronize local businesses and this is one I’ll be going back to for any future needs.

South Salem Auto is truly a hidden gem for an autobody shop. Bruce (believe he is the head owner) is an extremely nice guy and pleasant to talk to. I am a new customer of theirs and they gave me a huge break on parts and labor. I had brought in my truck ('08 Tacoma) and two other cars to have inspected, oil changes, and tires done, and I am very happy with the outcome and service on each. Bruce will give you an honest quote and he is very well communicative with updates on the work being done. I would highly recommend South Salem Auto to anyone in the area, they are well worth checking out.
