I won't go anywhere else, PERIOD. Rob is amazing and checks off all the marks on what makes not only a great mechanic, but a great business owner. He cares about his clients and prioritizes safety. Beyond their integrity, they have a very welcoming atmosphere and always work with me to fit me in, even if it is last minute. They are straightforward and very honest. His staff feed off that positive energy and no matter who you are dealing with, you are always in good hands. The prices are always decent and reflect the great work they put in. I am extremely grateful I found Rob because it's difficult to find an honest mechanic, let alone a stand up guy. The most honest and caring repair shop I've dealt with around this area. I'm in NJ and called for a quote last month for a friend of mine who's a single mother who lives around the Smithtown area. She brought her car yesterday and Rob approached her right away to assist her. After the evaluation, they gave her the same quote and recommendations they gave me last month with a competitive price (lower than the other shops). They worked on her car the same day and never pushed to repair anything not urgent being on a tight budget. Thank you Rob for taking care of your clients with honesty and care!
Paternostro’s Staff did an excellent job on repairing my 2018 Honda Accord; it looks like nothing ever happened. Billy was the gentleman that helped me through the process and he was very professional and to the point. Before leaving the car for repair, he took me on a walk around the whole car marking any imperfections that were already present and which one’s were caused by the accident. He asked about the accident for insurance purposes. He kept you informed on progress frequently. He even recommended another company (Rob’s Auto Service) they frequently work with to repair technical issues that were not related to the accident.
The receptionist, Daja, was also very kind and willing to find any answers to questions you may have along the way.
They also offered water or coffee while sitting in their clean and spacious waiting room.
I had gotten them off a referral and am always a bit leary with that. I normally like to do most work myself but was in a bit of a time crunch. I got an engine light and had the code scanned. It was a time consuming job so I called and spoke to Mike and explained my situation that I couldn't be without a car for more then a day. He made some calls to assure they could have the parts needed and lmk they could get it done. I dropped it off at 445 right before they closed. They immediately scanned it and I left. I received a text the next morning at 830 to let me know they were working on it already and will have it done earlier then they thought and would be less then the original estimate. Honestly never thought id hear that from a shop. They kept me updated and it was done early as I was told. I was pleasantly surprised at the price being much lower. Great shop to deal with honest and trustworthy. Will absolutely be using them again. Thanks to everyone there.
It's the very best for any type of auto repair. Staff is friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. I've been using them for more than 25 years, I wouldn't go to anyone else!!
I want to first state that this review is unsolicited.... I have been having Rob's service my 4 vehicles for the past 15 yrs. Rob is extremely competent in all areas of the automotive business, whether it be repairs, vehicle enhancements and/or used or new sales recommendations. He anticipates service needs and regularly suggests deferral of repair work and expenses based upon my needs and expectations. He stands by his work and addresses any concerns that may arise and he always treats me like a valued customer. I write this review because I value having an honest, competent and fair automotive repair shop with numerous other automotive related intangibles.

Rob is the best! We live out of state and drove a car we wanted to buy nearby for a PPI (pre purchase inspection). The whole process went very well and Rob gave some great warranty recommendations. Would highly recommend taking any car to Rob.
So I know nothing about cars. I admit it! All I know is something exploded in my jeep wrangler while driving. I brought it to a few mechanics they all told me $2700 and up that the 5th cylinder spark plug shot out and is stripped. Then I found Rob’s. $500 out the door! Done in a half hour!!! The car drives like brand new! And he takes all types of warranties as well. The guy was solid! Saved me a fortune and I couldn’t be happier when mechanic down the block tells me $3,000 and wasted my warranties time. So go to Rob’s trust me I read people for a living and this guy ya legit so are his hard working staff. Thank you Rob!
I found Rob's after doing a Google search and reading his great reviews. We had a unique situation on Labor Day weekend: Our alternator went out in Virginia on our way to taking our kid to college on Long Island and we bought a battery as insurance to help us get to a bigger city where we could get the car looked at. We ended up getting the alternator replaced, never used the battery, and found ourselves with a brand new car battery that our kid couldn't store in his dorm or his car.
We decided to find a good candidate who might take the battery off our hands and use it to help someone else. After finding Rob's and reading the reviews, we decided that this was the kind of place that helps people when they can. So I called, explained the situation to the friendly person who answered the phone, who talked to Rob, and they told us they would take it.
Rob wanted to pay me something for the battery. I explained to him that as far as I was concerned, the money was gone, and I just wanted somebody to be able to benefit from it. He ended up insisting that I take something for it. They say that integrity is who you are when no one is looking. I think it also shows when you do the right thing even when you can get away with doing the wrong thing. I like the integrity I saw in my interaction with Rob and his staff. You can bet that if my kid has car trouble while at school, I'm going to send him to Rob's Auto Service, because they've already shown me that doing right is important.
I highly recommend Rob’s. They are honest to excellent work if you schedule an appointment like an oil change, they take you right away and it’s done very quickly. I have a 2015 ram pick up and no hard sale but they recommended a lot of maintenance things to check and they were right on the money and very fairly price.
I just want to let others know I have been using this facility as my mechanic for the past five years. I particularly like them because they do not try and upsell you on things you don’t need. I trust them. I have sent three other women to them for services. Especially as a woman you feel like they’re out to get you They are not. Honest people here.
I recently purchased a '96 Chevy Blazer from Rob. His integrity and competence as a mechanic has been evident from the day he showed me the vehicle. Rob has consistently answered my many questions and serviced the vehicle any time I needed. He does what is needed to keep the vehicle safe and reliable, but not things that are unnecessary. My first experience was a polite, straight to the point, no thrills direct answer to all my questions and concerns. At first, I was suspicious due to my past experiences with several other auto mechanics in the area; however, my suspicious emtions were gone when he told me in detail why I need to do the things to my car to make it last as long as possible. He had me pull up my car to the ramp, he raised the car and showed me exactly what is good, and what needed to be fixed or replaced. He then worked with me on everything from giving me a donor car for the day to even working out a lower price for a better experience. The next day he reached out and without any amount of pressure he told me that something had to be changed on my car when I can afford and he even linked a better price when compared to all the competitors.
Not only does my car run, sound and drive better. It gives me the sense of security knowing anything that I need will be taken care of. He told me not to worry about my car for another 30k miles, besides doing an oil change or tires obviously. I highly recommend. Give them a chance. That is all they need to win you over. 5 out of 5 and they worked for the 5 out of 5.
The nice young lady behind the counter answered all my billing and waiting period questions. She was down to earth and very friendly. Keep in mind parking is a little odd but after the first time it is easy!
I had been going to same mechanic for years, but started to feel like something was off. I had brought my car in for constant suspension issues, but continuously blown off (after having my car for several days), being its an older car and has major issues not worth repairing. I decided to give Rob's Auto a shot, and hopefully find a new mechanic. Best decision I could have ever made. Right off the bat I could feel things different. The girl at the counter was courteous and no hassle setting up an appointment. The night drop-off set up (lockbox, envelopes) was great. Communication was solid. Got texts updating me on the findings and an attached estimate. Now the best part...Rob A was a total pro. He went above and beyond to find out all these major repairs weren't that major. He spent most of his day with my car and didn't stop until he felt confident he found every possible issue. He communicated with me every step and worked with me as best as could on the price. He even followed up with me a few days later to see how the car was. Total 180 from what I was dealing with. I was ready to junk this car last month, now I just installed a new radio in it because how well it's running, lol. Thanks again guys!

Good service, fairly affordable, very trustworthy. The owner (Rob) seems extremely knowledgeable regarding cars and car maintenance. First time I went he took me under my car and showed me exactly what's wrong. Rob's Auto Service goes above and beyond.
A+ service. Called to make an inspection appointment when they openthe following Monday. Rob greeted me 5 minutes early and got the car turned around quickly while I waited. Also offered advice on next used car purchase and said they are happy to take a look at potential vehicles free of charge. Great improvement over the shop that used to operate in this location.
I called on a Friday mid day for a 8am Monday morning alignment. I was welcomed by the front desk receptionist. Rob himself promptly took my car in and was on alignment lift at 8am promptly. He spent a good amount of time and periodically came to let me know how progress was going. Rob took extra care on my mustang as it's suspension was modified. He nailed the alignment perfect and had the car out in a very respectable time. Thank you Rob...I will be returning with more vehicles.
Rob is such an honest family man, he takes care of every family member and friends as if it was his own. His mechanics know their craft and his pricing is reasonable. He'll go out of his way to accommodate your schedule and get you back into the your vehicle in no time. So convenient and so trustworthy.
