Why would you suggest a tow to your location after an accident, charge $1400, and leave out the fact that you only do tires and can't actually fix anything else?! So now we get to pay another company God knows how much to tow (again) and fix our vehicle... You took advantage of a messed up and pricey situation so you can profit $1,400 for what cost you maybe $40...
I had to use my AAA service when my car broke down and I needed a tow. AAA sent a technician from Otego Tire and Auto. They were there very quickly. The technician was very friendly, professional and offered advice on what was most likely wrong. They turned a very stressful situation into a pleasant experience. I was very impressed! I would highly recommend their services. A+ service.
I am new to the area. Sometimes it is hard to find people to trust when there is no one to ask. My realtor had a 'cheat sheet ' of people that would be good to work with. Otego Tire was on that list. I am so glad it was there. I've had my inspection, my oil change and now my first set of snow tires! This is an honorable, family owned business. They are honest decent people and highly recommended. AND they have two great dogs that made the visit even more special.
Last month I drove up from Brooklyn for a wedding and my car started experiencing a random screeching noise whenever the wheel moved. It was a Sunday morning and all mechanics and repair shops were closed. I was essentially stranded until Gene showed up to tow my car, and when I described the issue to him, he decided to check it out for himself before towing me away. He fixed my wheel in 5 seconds and found that my splash shield was bent and was grinding on the rotor. He bent it right back with his hand and saved me hundreds, maybe thousands of dollars and an incredible amount of stress. Thank you Gene!
If I could give 1000 stars I would. Broke down on 206 between Greene and Triangle. Called tripple A and no one wanted to come tow us all the way to Syracuse. Gene took the call and rescued us within the hour. Absolutely fantastic service and all around good human being. Though I hope I don't need his services again, I would 100% call him. Recommending to all my friends as well. Thank you for getting us home safe.
I have been using Otego Tire and Auto for at least a decade and have always been satisfied with their service. I recently had a flat tire 15 miles from Otego and they arrived via AAA. Gene, the owner, was friendly, helpful and efficient with very quick service. I was surprised by how effectively my flat was resolved and I was back on the road! I never post reviews but I will for this business because they are honest and trustworthy with caring for my vehicles over many years. Plus, they have gorgeous dogs in the office as a bonus if you wait. Thank you Otego Tire and Auto!
Gene came today to help me with my truck when it broke down. Despite aaa being difficult, he stayed and worked with me to make sure my truck got moved. Super nice guy. I have a second home 3 hours away and was having my truck towed back as I own my own repair business, In the future I will reach out to otego tire and have them do the repairs in my vehicles in the area. If you need a tow I highly recommend them.
The business owner picked our stranded vehicle and us up at 1 am in Oneonta and drove us and our car back to our hometown of South New Berlin, providing us good company and gracious amiability all the way.
Kyle is an amazing drive, my tire fell off this morning on 88 ,Kyle was there in no time to tow it, park the vehicle exactly where I need it, even left his block of wood so my vehicle is not setting on the ground... Loved his up bet personality

I met Jean the owner of otego tire through AAA tow he was the tow truck driver I had him tow my truck to his shop even though I live in Oneonta New York even with the bad weather here they did the best they could to stick to their schedule and by Friday I had my truck back and running fine it was an electrical issue which could have been very expensive but they were unbelievably reasonable with their cost and pricing and kept me informed throughout the whole process highly recommended
Gene and the ladies are always honest and are helpful! Recommend them for fast honest work! Not to mention they go above and beyond I feel like every single time I'm there! Plus the dogs are a treat!
Took a vehicle to them a couple years ago for for their Fluid Film undercarriage treatment. It was $200, not a special offer, just $200. Upon picking up my truck afterhours, I decided I'd pop my head under the truck for a peek. Glad I did! Thing was just shot here and there with the film. I certainly wasn't taking it like that. Left it and went back home nearly an hour, talked with them in the morning, they said they'd correct it. Showed up to pick it up, they apologized, said they taught the tech how to properly do it, appreciated my patience, ect, ect. No offer of any compensation, not even just my cost of fuel on the wasted trip. But that was no problem at the time, they seemed genuine with their apology.
Fast forward to this year, I bring them another vehicle for treatment. Waited with it this time(last time it was needed to be left overnight per their method) Paid the, this time "Special Offer" of $200, and went on my way home. Thought to myself, no need to look, they wouldn't do that again. Well, my conscious couldn't help but to have a look underneath once I pulled in my garage, again nearly an hour away. Low and behold, thing was barley sprayed once again. Immediately took it right back. Showed the female owner the pics I had taken, she seemed very surprised, concerned, and got it right in to have the job done correctly. After a bit, the mechanic came and asked if I wanted to have a look. Sure! Now this time it was done as Fluid Film advertises. As I was leaving, I asked the secretary if they'd have any interest in reimbursing me at all for inconvenience, or at least fuel. She said she'd have to ask her boss. Moments later the Male owner came in and replied with a hard "No". Said he was already doing it for much less than he should. (Somehow I felt like I was the inconvenience with him, his wife seened much more genuine) I pleaded my thoughts, replied to him, "Either way, no matter the cost, you're offering a service that you're not actually doing". He said, "well, we fixed it. Next time make sure they know it's you, and I'll inspect the job personally". I said I shouldn't have to do that, but alright. Thanks, and went on my way.
Makes me wonder how many go out the door with a half a$$ job. If you get Fluid Film, check the work people! Go to Fluid Films website and learn about the service that's supposed to be provided. They only use black film at this location, so it's very easy to just visibly see the work done. Should they bring back the more natural color, you can still tell by the haze it leaves. Worse case, use your fingers to test! I'll be reaching out to Fluid Film directly next. Clearly, this can't be what they expect of their partners.
Disclaimer, I wasn't going to leave this review, as I planned on getting my truck done. However after a few calls, I can get it done for $219.99 all year long in Binghamton, and thats closer to home! So, the respecful, yet honest review must be left.
Why didn't I check around before going back to this place? I'm a native of that area, and prefer to keep my business in that area if possible. My thoughts have changed since.
Lastly, the ladies in front are very nice. The female owner shows much more concern for the satisfaction of the customer over the husbands. Heck, even the mechanic was very nice and didn't seem irritated, and it was his work that was being critiqued! Oddly enough, of them all, I did seem like an inconvenience to the male owner without a doubt.

Gene and the WHOLE crew at Otego Tire are professionals and amazing at what they do! You get what you pay for and if you want it done right and at a FAIR price these are the guys! They will never lie or steer you wrong! They have ALWAYS done right by my family and I 100% stand behind any work they’ve done and SEVERAL of our vehicles over many many years! The are the real deal!
Had a flat tire on my way home from vacation. Called the closest tire shop to my location and they came out and towed my truck to their shop. They were really friendly and honest. I appreciate the help gave me and my family in patching my flat tire and getting us back on the road. They are nice, honest people.
I broke down camper in tow on the way home from vacation with little over two hours to go, the staff were super friendly and were really quick about getting my truck and camper towed to their shop and truck repairs done and had me back on the road all within 3 hours. This was the best and fastest service by far and reasonable prices. Highly recommend Otego tire and auto, they went above and beyond even though they were busy.The team deserves more than five stars. Will definitely send work their way.
I'll put it this way, I've lived all over the country, and haven't come across a shop that is more honest and transparent than Otego Tire and Auto. I know I'm getting a fair price every time, and they're much quicker than other auto shops I've used in the past. They're personal and care about every person who walks through their door. This is the place.
I’d give Otego Tire and Auto six stars if this note weren’t limited to five! Gene and his team in the shop and those in the office put the customer first, they diagnose the issue and get the repair done right the first time. Highly recommend.
As you can see by the photos most of my work is off the beaten path,and that my truck is longer than most. It’s extremely expensive to buy the type of tires that I depend on to get me and the equipment I use to and from the job site. So alignments are needed frequently, I can’t afford to neglect a $1300.00 set of tires. It’s also extremely difficult to find a reliable shop that has a rack that my truck can fit on to do a proper alignment and one who has immediate availability. They don’t exist! I called Otego tire and asked for the earliest appointment they had,and like any reputable shop their soonest wasn’t for about a week out. I explained my dire situation and the woman told me to hold for a moment. I wasn’t expecting for her to come back on the phone and tell me to bring my truck in the following morning. God bless the good folks at Otego Tire, not only did they get my truck in ASAP, the bill was half of what I thought it would be. I’m definitely sending more work their way, they’ve earned it!
My car was towed to the shop after getting a flat tire. They worked diligently to get my car back to me in a timely manor. The efforts were much appreciated after the stressful event I would highly recommend their services. My whole family takes their cars here
It’s an alright place to get new brakes put on or an oil change. After 5 years of going to this place, I brought in a new ford escape that needed an inspection. I guess everyone has an off day, but they told me they couldn’t hook the car up to the machine. They tried twice. They told me I should take it to Ford, right after I pay them for the inspection. I was told in no uncertain terms that it was not their problem and that they get paid wether my car passes inspection or not, and since they couldn’t hook it up properly, I still had to pay.
When I got to Ford, they couldn’t understand what happened. They never had any problems doing my inspection. I’ve never been back to this place since. My $20 (or whatever an inspection costs) was more important than my business. I’ll never forget the look on the woman’s face when I asked if she was serious that I still had to pay when they couldn’t inspect my vehicle. I would not recommend this place for anything.
Now I take all my business to Monser Brothers in Oneonta.
I had my car fluid filmed, and I am very happy with the result. This is the first time Otego Tire and Auto has serviced my car, they were very nice, answered all of my questions, the price point is reasonable. I am happy with my service and would recommend them!
