The men who work at this store are the rudest people I’ve ever met. I will never buy anything from Ace hardware again. The manager should be appalled by the people he has hired.

Closest hardware store to home for me, well stocked for a lower manhattan hardware store, and the staff have always been helpful and friendly. I don’t often leave reviews but honestly was just a bit taken aback by the one star reviews and don’t think 3.8 stars is fair at all.

GO TO HOME DEPOT ACE IS Twice the price of Home Depot, the paint has more water as well. Hard time returning unmixed paint, said because I opened the can they won’t exchange or replace.

Purposefully unhelpful. If the manager even sees you looking for help, he’ll turn the other way. If you ask him to his face, he’ll stand 10 ft away and pretend he can’t help. If they stand next to you, they will point at an entire rack of screws and mumble that’s what you need. The only guy who was helpful was the young clerk at the cashier. I dropped my items and left. I’d rather shop at Amazon - and that’s saying a lot. Actually, if you’re looking for a hardware store with good customer service go to the H Brickman & Sons on 1st ave and 3rd street. Far superior.

I called Brickman’s and asked if they had propane tanks for grills. The clerk said they did. So I went there. They did not. I met the woman who I spoke to on the phone – she simply said “we don’t have those kind of propane tanks”. She did not apologize. A little empathy would go a long way for my inconvenience! Who is training your clerks?

I'd like to give a huge shout out to Mika who not only kindly offered me help when she saw me in need but who went to extra lengths to make sure that I got the correct spray bottle I needed - she tested it for me and everything! I've always loved going to Brickman's and today just reaffirmed why! Thanks for the great help.

I’ve been in here many times but the last few times have been rough to say the least. Workers are rude, roll their eyes, argue with you and don’t seem to know how to help you with basic things like finding the right size wall anchors. I asked worker for help and they told me to look for my size screw myself and that they couldn’t help bc they didn’t work in that aisle. I asked if there was a person who did work in that aisle who could help me and they were quite rude saying things like “if they were here, I wouldn’t be helping you”. The same worker cut another woman off when she asked where bathroom items were and yelled at here “We don’t have no bathroom!”. Among other things, when I was checking out there was a longgg list of non-returnable items, many added in pencil to the list (which means they could edit the list at any time) and a note that said “don’t even ask.” The whole experience was just bad. Would not recommend.

I love my hometown Ace but on a visit to NYC to help my daughter settle into her new apartment I was happy to find the same friendliness, service and selection I have come to expect from Ace.

Poor customer service, very rude service unfortunately came form the store MANAGER! Needs proper training on how to speak to customers for sure. Just because of the lady’s lack of communication skills I will never spend another dollar at this store.

I purchased a laundry bag which fell apart and broke upon my putting laundry in it. When I took it back to the store I was told that the breakage was my fault and not because the product was seriously defective. I have never experienced such incompetent and ignorant sales people as to the fact that a consumer can return a product that is defective. You have been warned. I would not shop at this store.

Take your money somewhere else... Rude people from the store manager to the people in the front. From the woman that is called store manager drinking coke and burping like a pig to getting charged $400.28 for a 5 gallons of paint that the other store charged me $319.00. They just lost about $4000 in materials. I will never go there again. In case you wonder here is the address for the other store... 55 first Ave. Much better experience and they are apart about 10 minutes away

Unless you know exactly what you need, do not go here. I stopped by on Sunday, not being DIY-minded I needed some very simple help. I had a screw which I needed an identical version of, just specifically for brick. I asked the member of staff near the door and showed him the screw. Barely looking, he walked over to the aisle with screws and just said 'here's all the screws' and then walked off. Wonderful. Stick to big brands like Home Depot, they are successful for a reason.

My son’s stroller broke because an acorn nut popped off one of the screws and Annette changed the day in such a good way by helping me find the right nut and washer. God bless you guys who helped! Walked with my son for an hour afterward and the stroller remained fixed. Price was so good too for the little parts

The crew was very helpful this morning. Tall guy helped me locate exactly what I needed - like he knew where the item was from the back of his mind. A light banter upon entry. The mood was spirited. Smiles from the cashier. Great job guys!

Anette (Manager) was so helpful. They have a ton of items from core hardware to a variety of household and life stuff. Very helpful for the 'I need this random thing' moment! Everyone seems super friendly and they always do their best to help me find what I need. A great neighborhood store for sure.

I came here to make a few purchases totaling about $100. There was only one customer in the store when I entered it. The employee I approached was not interested in showing me around. Customer service is no longer offered. This establishment lost $100 in revenue. I discovered a True Value store, and the staff was very helpful. I'll always go there from now on. The poor customer service at Brickman's Ace Hardware benefits True Value.

I’m sorry to agree with previous reviews, but the service here was unbelievably rude. I was “assisted“ by someone named Lance. Who stared at me blankly, gave me one word responses, only pointed in the direction of anything I needed, and rolled his eyes and complained about actually having to help me. I only got his name the following day when I had to return the wrong part he sold me - the prior day he told me they didn’t give out names because of crazy clients. When I returned the part, I quietly told the manager that I wouldn’t be coming back because of the rude service. At which point another colleague chimed in “Fine, don’t come back.“ Unless you know exactly what you want and confirm it’s in stock, don’t come here and expect anything resembling customer service let alone expertise.

Rude - I did not complete my purchase today. Shelf prices do not correspond to what you're charged at the register. I chose 3 clay pots positioned directly above a shelf price of $3.99, and they tried to charge me $7+ at the register. The man at the register clapped back that I needed to read the label on the bottom. I pointed out that there was no price listed on the label on the bottom. I was ready to complete the purchase despite dishonest shelf pricing, but then when I asked for a bag, he said he would not provide a bag. Forget it. Rude rude rude. I am only your customer. I hope this place goes out of business and gets replaced by a Lowes. I understand that items on shelves can move, so the solution is simple - stores need to label each item with accurate prices. Give people jobs. Duh.

I bought some items. They didn’t work and brought them back with the purchase record on my phone and with my credit card with me. But I couldn’t find the receipt. I asked if I can return when I was buying. I’d been only told the items should be unopened. The store didn’t pay my return without a receipt. Manager Imran was not nice as well. Left the items in the store and went out without any refund. Depending your returns on receipt is only tricky. No need to be cheap; please be solution and customer satisfaction focused !!

at the end of the day, i got what i needed, but wish i’d gone somewhere else. went in to get some sandpaper, saw a bunch in the 50% off section. Was charged the FULL price. When i asked if it was the sale price, I was told it was already reflected in the charge. After paying, I went back and checked the price of the sandpaper that wasn’t on sale— it was the same as what i was charged (allegedly 50% off). Went to the cashier to see about a refund, and he voided the 3 products I bought. When issuing the updated transaction, he STILL charged full price for 2 of the 3 items! PLEASE consistently mark the prices of your items so your customers know what they should expect at the register!

The staff here went the extra mile to be kind and helpful after I locked myself out of my apartment. The staff at Brickman's found the $14 lock I needed, unboxed a lock in the store, and took the time to demonstrate exactly how to replace the lock on my own. They made me feel totally comfortable as a female shopper in a hardware store (a fish out of water, as they say) and I'm so impressed by their associates going the extra mile that I'll continue to shop there whenever I need anything for my home.

They have people who really wants to help you. I bought 50 lbs thin set and they were kind to help me getting that to near the street for the taxi. Helper from the store wanted to stay with me for the taxi so that he can load that unto the trunk. I kindly asked him it was ok that he needed to get back inside to help other good customers.

I was looking a little lost and even though he was off duty, Glenn offered to help me! He inquired about my needs and helped me find a better product that I didn't even know existed. He was friendly and had my best interest at heart! Thanks Glenn! The screen fits perfectly!
