I had the best passport photo experience with Ray! He was incredibly friendly and professional. Unlike other places, he gave me a moment to prepare, explained the technical requirements clearly, and let me review the shot to ensure I was happy with it. It sounds simple, but after I had poor experiences elsewhere, Ray’s attention to detail made the process delightful. Thank you!

Gotta say I'm seriously disappointed in the area of printing photos where you stand for a consultation. I patiently waited for about 20 minutes or more no one even acknowledged me or anything.. I finally had the chance to asked someone who came out from the back room if anyone can help me and she said the lady who was back there will .. she left and then the lady who she was referring to finally came out of the back room. I approached her and she was getting ready to go on her lunch break.. i said another lady in the back said that you were the person I was supposed to be helped by. Unfortunately she was going to lunch , but had a supervisor help me .. Now I would give it a 5 star due to him because he was extremely apologetic and very helpful. Thanks ! But the sad thing is they don't know if people have injuries or hurt and can't wait around for long like myself so I think they need to do better in asking how can I help you or at least an estimate time of how long you should wait. Yes I know i should've left but I was trying to make a picture gift for someone Please Staples do better I mean that with utmost respect.

Consistently one of the worst Staples. Printing service area will have a 20+ minute wait every time. Not even because it is busy but because nobody there works or wants to help besides Mar.

Very disappointing experience.
This is my third visit, and every time I’ve had to wait over 20 minutes, even when there’s no line. The first time my copies were done incorrectly. I came back 3 days later to pick up the corrected order, waited again, and was told they didn’t have it and I’d need to wait even longer (30 min). I was also called at 11:03 PM on a Sunday night saying my order was ready, which clearly wasn’t true. Poor organization and wasted time.Dec 22, 2025 -
There is an employee here named Mario who was very rude to me and my five year old daughter. He literally took her candy from her. I'm not kidding. The rest of the store is really nice

I have always had an extremely high opinion of staples. I like the variety of office supplies. The online store is just as good and the delivery is quick.

STAPLES IS PRICEY! I mean, Staples has never been "cheap" but I needed a regular print job (for some paystubs) that I had to send out b/c my printer at home broke down. I figured Staples would be reasonable, charging maybe $0.10-$0.20/page, at most. WRONG! If you go with a USB and plug it right into a copy machine, it was an astronomical $0.36/page. If you sit down at a computer (because if it's a lot of files, the USB-directly-into-copier route is impractical), you not only get charged for the time spent at the computer (I can't recall the rate), but you get charged a ginormous, out-of-the-park, MASSIVELY OVERPRICED $0.56/page!! And this is for a regular 8.5×11 BLACK&WHITE copy. (I can't even think what a color copy would cost!) If I hadn't been desperately needing those documents, I would have left, because for $60+ dollars that I spent I could have just bought a new printer. To BOOT, when I checked my documents, the computer had reprinted twice certain documents and not printed others. So my print job was incomplete. The tragedy. [I did have an employee help me out fast when my printer ran out of paper.] IN THIS ECONOMY, STAPLES, GET CONSCIOUS, GET REAL, AND UPDATE YOUR STUFF!! (While I was there, a lady couldn't get the computer to give her the right print job either...)
To boot, I've always found this store understocked, uninspiring, dated, and kind of icky. Only good thing is its central location in Union Square. Nothing more, nothing less.
In short, for a print job, FedEx is a much cheaper alternative. For anything else, buy it cheaper online or elsewhere. Anywhere. Bye Staples, for ever.Nov 26, 2025 -

Went to Staples in Union Square late last month as I had computer issues. Guillermo is a great tech. Went over my computer and explained about Windows 10 leaving. Also showed me comparable computers for when I decide to upgrade. He was friendly, professional and explained what he was doing when on the computer. Highly recommended if you're downtown. Great store. Reminds me of the one back on 5th Avenue years ago

Unfortunately, Staples seems to be downsizing. At least four of my "go to" stores in Manhattan have closed in recent years, so I am pretty much restricted to shopping at their Union Square West location. Personnel are nice enough, but there aren't too many of them. The place is seriously undermanned. Yesterday I had to wait to make a purchase because there wasn't a single clerk at any of the cash registers. But the place itself is clean and seems to be well organized.

All of the staff here are amazing, but Ray and Tyson are exceptional. They are quick and efficient when the situation demands it, and they slow down and take time to work with customers as they see fit. Genuine, positive guys that always have me walking out the front door with a smile on my face. Staples, I hope you know that you got a couple of gems.

The team at Staples Union Square is absolutely amazing! They’ve always gone above and beyond for me, and even sponsored me with coloring book prints during my campaign for Ms. Full Figure USA. Everyone there is so kind and helpful, but I have to give a special shoutout to the print shop team — they’re truly the sweetest and made the whole process smooth and stress-free. I’m so grateful for their support and can’t recommend this location enough!

In my opinion it’s no reason for staples to ask for my number to text me when the order is ready if they are not going to keep up with the orders . It’s absurd to advertise same day business services and the order is done in the evening and/or not done . Let’s talk about the customer services as to how I’m able to wait 23 mins for someone to look up a six digit number is unacceptable. It’s not fair to have to be treated with that much delay you don’t even receive when paying a phone bill for that reason alone myb headquarters needs to do some investigation there if the employees there September 9 ,2025 don’t want to do their job . The services provided at the store at union square provides customer service related care ,for the employees of the store to act bothered by services your established provides it’s crazy ; the safe thing to due is close the store or educate the workers for respect because even though your getting the 27 dollars for the business cards I ordered yesterday I would never come here or suggest it due to phone services

I wish I could give 0 star, but unfortunately I can't. Unprofessionalism to the highest! I usually come here to print pictures, documents, laminate stuff etc. Today I came to do one of the those, and I was met with one of the most unprofessional associate one who didn't feel like working. His exact words to me was "we dont do that here, we never do that".. what if i was a helpless elderly who had issues seeing? Is this the treament I would have gotten. The associates rather stand around to gossip about what they're doing after work and how long they've been with the company. Please do better!!

Walked in to get a headset. Should have taken no more than 10 mins. Instead, 2 different associates told me I had to speak with the one person who had the key to the case. He was busy taking a photo for a girl who was on her second set of pictures. I guess she needed multiple tries until she was happy? I didn’t bother to wait. Apparently out of the 10 employees walking around the store, only one has the key? Ridiculous. I guess I’ll get it from Amazon, less money and faster.

Just stopped by at lunch time. Really busy but lots of help on the floor. Got assistance fast and had a very friendly cashier who price matched some items that were less on the website. Totally different experience from last time, glad I tried the store again.Aug 25, 2025 -
The union square Staples store has horrible customer service. They have hardly any staff and I had to search for someone to help me for 15-20 minutes. I wanted to purchase a label maker and showed the associate the one I wanted. He told me to wait in the isle saying he would bring the product over to me after he retrieved it.Instead when he came back, he called across the room he left the item at the cashier station. I paid for it, got it home and opened the box to find only the device was there, no instructions, warranty and no label tape that is supposed to come with it. Also at the cashier they were very aggressive about purchasing Staples insurance which I didn’t want and was bullied into buying it. My advice is to go to other Staples stores and bypass this one

All of the staff were very friendly and willing to help. I especially appreciated two staff at the printing services who gave me advice on my print order and quickly reprinted it on the spot. For such a central & busy location, and it being 30 mins to closing, I was super impressed by the service, it even went as far as making my day.

I arrived at 6:30 to print some very basic documents for an event. At other Staples locations, this usually takes 10 to 15 minutes.
This time it took over two hours, and it was one of the most stressful experiences I’ve ever had. The staff member who assisted me was unhelpful from the start, giving me unclear instructions that led nowhere.
After an hour and a half, he finally decided to help — and it took him one minute to complete the job. Unbelievable.
To make matters worse, I then found out I couldn’t even cut the prints he had just given me.

While the staff are generally friendly, do NOT use this store for mail services. You have to stand in the print line to pick up mail and it regularly takes 10-15 minutes to pick up the mail.

My friend and I went in this Staples because he wanted to buy a paper shredder. He lives 2 blocks away and has been a frequent customer there. It was 2pm on a Saturday and it was not crowded. We waited for over 30 minutes for someone to help us and this was after the manager(who was helping another customer)acknowledged us. We left with no shredder and very aggravated.
