But it was a glitch in the phone system. As soon as they seen the comment they did there absolute best to come out right away
I have been bringing my car to them for a couple years, now, and I've had a great and personal experience every time.
Their work is top notch, so it was no surprise that they were booked until next month.. but they were able to squeeze me in the next morning!! The turnaround is speedy, and they remember me like I'm a friend every time I come in?

Purchased a 2001 Corvette at a very fair price. Matt and his team was great to deal with from start to finish! Car needed to be “caught up” on numerous, maintenance issues before Matt would let me get on the road. They are thorough, honest and experienced. Would buy a used vehicle or have automotive work done at, Phinney’s in a heartbeat!
Recently had rear seals and a front bearing replaced. Items were covered by my warrenty program at very little expense to me. (rearend oil was not coverd by warrenty-which is normal) Work was completed in 1 day, I have been pleased in all my dealings with Phinney's which includes two vehicle purchases. Quality vehicles at extremely fair prices. I appreciate that integrity is the standard at Phinney's. I will continue to do business with Phinney's in my vehicle purchases and repairs when necessary.
Called Phinney’s for a problem with my truck, it was making a whining noise. They promptly text me with the diagnosis and quote. They had to order a part, (idler pulley-bad bearing) They text the next morning to let me know it was completed. Service was excellent and the staff was very friendly. Would highly recommend them for your vehicle service. Thanks Guys!
Damaged a tire while on Vacation in the area and the two front tires required replacement. Phinney's got replacement tires and installed quickly and efficiently. Thanks!
Great when they will work on the car. We have older cars in great shape but there is a 20 year age limit! :)
They still do oil changes and inspections. And Batteries!

I have been taking my vehicles to Phinneys for years and have always been treated well and fairly. They are very courteous and respectful. I will keep taking my vehicles there.
Had an issue with the brakes as we exited rt 81 on Thursday, drove up to Clayton and unpacked the car for a stay, went to Phinneys,explained the situation and they said to drop it off first thing the next morning as it was almost closing time, they said they'll try to get it in Friday after called told me the problem and quoted a price to make repairs. Car was complete by the afternoon and we drove home the next day, Thank you Phinneys for getting the car in for a safe uneventful ride back to Binghamton area with short detour to Sylvan Beach amusement park for the grandkids
Excellent service! Prompt, efficient and very helpful! Had a leak in my tire, found nail and fixed my tire ! Dropped off at 8 am recieved a message shortly after it was fixed!
Im not from the area and I trusted previous Google reviews that swayed my decision to bring my truck here. Overall very good shop. I dropped it off with a backstory and they called me to explain the work that needed to be done and didn’t try to upsell me B.S. they fixed what needed to be fixed and charged me accordingly (I didn’t feel like I was being robbed at all, I even texted my mechanic back home). If you never brought your vehicle here, you are going to be in good hands.
Bought my auto from them, excellent customer relations during the shopping & buying process. Just completed my 1st oil change & I ask for minor checks including tire pressure which they added air, & filled washer fluid. Personally I'm very particular on my auto maintenance & care which means they wouldn't service my vehicles if not 100% honest & trustworthy. Fully satisfied customer.
While we were visiting the area, we had a flat tire the day before we needed to head home. Phinney’s went above and beyond to squeeze us in on a busy Friday. They were friendly, fast, and got us safely back on the road without any hassle. If I lived near Clayton, this would be my go-to auto repair shop every time. Highly recommend!
Very pleased with the assistance we received from Phinney’s automotive center. While on vacation camping in the area I discovered that we picked up a nail in one of our tires. 3 different community members recommended Phinney’s. The service team was very friendly and helpful in getting our truck in for a quick fix of our tire. Very little wait time and they all seemed happy to help us out! I highly recommend them for your automotive needs!
I had my car towed to Phinney’s after a break down on Rt. 12 on a Thursday night. I had an estimate early Friday morning. Car was fixed by end of day Friday below the estimate. Who does that?? Phinney’s was phenomenal. The communication, the speedy repair work, the honest pricing … every detail of the experience was top notch. Would highly recommend!
This review should probably also go through AAA auto club. The mechanic/flatbed operator (Richard) that came to help us after our Avalanche wouldn't start was just so kind, helpful and generous with his effort and time. Before even putting the truck on his flatbed, he correctly diagnosed a worn out starter in about 5 minutes. We were 5 hours from home and it was after hours. We had rented an Airbnb (we had our 135lb dog with us). On the way to our Airbnb that was nearby, I suggested that we needed to find a more local shop versus taking the truck all the way to Clayton. He didn't hesitate, agreed and we luckily found a shop 3 blocks from our rental. Thanks Richard!
Phinney's is a very important part of what car repairs for you should be. The car repairs are done the right way. Their location is convenient. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The Phinney Foundation contributes to the local fireworks. Many school kids have received new bikes. Phinney's is a family friendly local business. 'Shop' local...?

I've been using Phinney's now for about 7 years and have had everything from simple state inspections to engine replacements done. Only once did I have to return for a service issue. It was handled expeditiously and with grace. What I appreciate more is they don't try to upsell you. Everyone is courteous, kind, and competent. What more could you ask for.
Always have had great service at Phinney’s. They go above and beyond to solve any issues. If you have a wonky extended warranty, for example Endurance or Car Shield, they will even call and try to work with them. If not, I highly encourage you to look at their extended warranty they use. I’m not trying to sell a warranty, just saying it was much better and 50% cheaper than the ones I mentioned. Highly recommend this shop for all your car care needs!
I was at the grocery store in Clayton and when I came out I was met with a flat tire because of a screw. Thankfully, I was able to air up my tire enough to get somewhere to have it patched quickly but the air was leaking enough to be able to be heard. I went to Phinney’s hoping to be helped quickly as it would only require a patch so that I could get home safely. Instead I was told that if I left my car there, she MIGHT be able to fit me in but the earliest availability they had was next week. NEXT WEEK. For a tire patch. I was noticeably annoyed and said “No that’s fine.” Instead of good customer service I was met with a very rude and sarcastic “sure sounds like it.” On my way out the door. This place may be excellent, but you wouldn’t know with that witch of a receptionist sitting at the front desk.
