Just used Palenville Auto for the 1st time and couldn’t be happier. Finally a FAIR & HONEST mechanic in the area! I Had Justin do wheels and tires on my truck along with a leveling kit. Communication was excellent. He got the job done in a single day just like he told me he would. Receipt was broken down by item and all charges were more than fair. He even left a socket in the truck for me to keep for when I do tire rotations with the new wheels AND he explained technicalities to make sure to tell whomever does my oil changes from not on, because certain things are no longer stock. First time in forever I paid an auto mechanic with a smile on my face. Would not hesitate to recommend to friends and loved ones.
Justin fit me in last minute the other day and provided great service with clear communication. What more can you ask from a mechanic? This is a great local business which will be my first call for all my car service needs going forward. Thank you Justin!
Absolute credit to Palenville. I take both my work van and truck here and wouldn’t think of going anywhere else as had such a fantastic experience. They definitely go above and beyond, for instance I recently had brakes fixed and they also put some grease on my creaky control arms which they didn’t mention doing or charge for but was noticed and appreciated.
I can’t say enough good things about Justin. Had car trouble driving up from the city to spend a few days there. Took me in on a holiday at 12 o’clock and was able to get the job done by 9 AM the next morning. Charged

Justin really cares about the integrity of his work and it shows. Not only is he a kind person and talented mechanic, but he truly went above and beyond when my only car broke down while my Mom in town visiting. When I was stranded on the highway, the tow truck driver told me that Justin is one of the very best mechanics in town and I made the right choice bringing my car there. Justin finished it ahead of schedule at an affordable price. I had mentioned that I might need an inspection - and I showed up with my car all ready to go - running better than she's run in years, inspection perfect, passed and done! went to palinvill auto cuse machine rip me off i did t know the issue they test drove my car found it was drive shaft fix it quick at a fair price. had my check engine light on brough to them again . found out person who did my 02 sensor put bad one in . just and rich fix the problem . in a great amount time and fair price . they really know what they are doing . and i highely recommend them to anyone who need a honest auto shop . they are really good
I needed an urgent repair 160 miles from home with my family. I tried 5 different repair shops and I was promptly turned away telling me it would be 2 weeks. I was becoming very desperate when my wife found Hughes brother's (now Palenville Auto )garage. I called late in the day. This great guy (sorry I'm not good remembering names) answered and understood my situation. He told me to bring it in around 10:30 the next morning. I stepped into the garage, he greeted me, put down his tools he was using on another vehicle and came right out to see my problem. I think it was an hour before he had me back on the road. I watched him work while I chatted with him from just outside the garage door. He was efficient and professional. Best of all, his bill was VERY modest. Yes, I tipped him! He knew I was in a pinch and he could have easily taken advantage of that. He didn't, thank you!
Had a great experience, yesterday, at Palenville Auto! Our primary car broke down right as we needed it for our holiday travel plans. Palenville repaired it fast and was VERY reasonably priced! Very friendly owner.

This auto repair shop really saved me in an emergency. I stopped at Story farms to pickup some vegetables and when I tried to start my truck the starter failed. I called Hughes brothers and they fit a 6 hr emergency job in before closing. I had a 350 mile drive ahead of me and they saved me from an overnight stay camping in a parking lot. Thanks again Hughes brothers !
This man got me home (160 miles) when no other garage within 20 miles would tell me anything but " maybe we can get you in, in about 2 weeks"! He could easily taken advantage of me, and he knew it. He gave me really great price too! $85 for something my local mechanic would have charged me at least twice that. Great guy and very professional. I'm so grateful my wife found him on Google in a time of desperation.
We were visiting from out of state. He took time out of his busy schedule to read the code on my car to tell me if I'm could keep driving it through the end of the trip or if I needed to get it fixed ASAP.
Hugh's Bros Garage is my "Go To" garage and has been for well over ten years. I've been please with the speed with which my Automotive problems are addressed as well as the fair market pricing that John applies to my jobs. They have a reasonably comfortable waiting area should you want to wait for your work to be completed and provide free Wi-Fi which helps to pass the time. I would recommend this auto repair garage to anyone looking for good work at a fair price.
Have been a regular customer...exceptional auto repair shop and mechanics are honest and reliable and the place is kept neat and clean...lovely waiting area and the owner John is the best!
John and the Guys do a great job of keeping your car(s) in tip top shape. Nice to know that there is still an honest and affordable mechanical shop around. They have my recommendation.
