So I have a 20 year old Tacoma that is in great shape for its age and I noticed a rust bubble on the side of the bed, right above the fender flare. I want to keep the truck looking nice so my main priority was to make sure I find a shop that does good work.
I’ve known people that were very happy with the work dons did for them so I went there. They gave me a very reasonable quote and told me 3 days it should be ready. After the 4th or 5th day I called and they told me to come in the following day and it would be ready.
I realized why it took longer than originally thought when they told me what they had done to my truck. Wow, so not only did they take care of the rust bubble but they showed me pictures of underneath the fender flare and underneath the plastic strip on the top side of the bed. There was rust bubbling and actual rust that otherwise would be hidden without taking the parts off. They took care of all of that for me without making me pay extra. I will be going there for any type of body work I need from now on and possibly mechanical work as well. Truly thankful for the amazing work they did and extra mile they went for me.
3 star rating as I’m basing my experience on two things. 1 the quality side of things and 2 the business side of things.
There quality is decent. I don’t see anything that sticks out like a sore thumb. Everything looks good as it did before the accident at least in my opinion as of right now but if I find anything I will update this review. They took 30 days though for 2 doors, a fender and a “wheel”. Decent updates as they did text me every now and then. Don Jr was pretty friendly but that lady up front seemed miserable, other guy at the desk seemed miserable. It doesn’t look like these guys enjoy their jobs.
Business side of things were a little bad. These guys don’t try to work with you nor do they care about your pockets at all. I went with dons because a buddy said they would work with me and make sure I benefited. That was completely not the case. They did save me my deductible but not a penny more. They only saved my deductible because they cheated the insurance and me. They texted me about halfway through my time truck being there and said I would owe nothing at all which was nice I thought I was making out not having to pay anything then a day before completion they texted me telling me I owe 2680$ which was the insurance check I received after progressive tried ripping me off too. I wouldn’t call these guys crooks but not exactly up transparent either. They didn’t even replace my rim even though they got paid for it. They just buffed it out and said that’s how they saved my deductible. Complete crap. As someone who’s in the service industry I know all the tricks and games. They thought they can play that with me but they’re wrong. There’s always wiggle room to be shaved off & for them to act like they didn’t have any wiggle room is crazy. They could have saved me something. If I wasn’t saving anything extra outside the deductible then everything should of been brand new in my eyes. Funniest thing ever is they are such penny pinchers they are trying to charge me an extra 3.5 % for paying with card. So you made 9400$ and can’t eat 48$ for a card charge.? They definitely want every dime out of the job they do. Thing is if they were really about their business they’d realize if they cut deals and take a little less on the car individually then they’ll get repeat customers. They made 9400$ on me Great but I’ll never be back for sure. Could have went to gerber collision and had the same outcome with no cheating. If they had been up front since the beginning about how much I would owe and didn’t text me I would owe 0$ then I wouldn’t have been as upset but they don’t understand the regular person don’t have the same wiggle room as a business. Disappointed for sure. Then after all this they are sweating me over 48$ in card fees lol. Definitely decent work but business side seems a little shady. Maybe it’s just me but after reading other google reviews seems I’m not the only one.
Worst ever! Save yourself time, inconvenience and mostly money. $4200 estimate (written on a post it note) turned into a 3 week headache. When FINALLY done I was presented with an over $8000 bill. Took it to another mechanic only to find work that was said to be done was in fact not done at all. Total scammer. Have to sue to get my money back.
Had some autobody work done here last year and it took them 2 months to replace 4 panels on my subaru forester. They left a large dent that was unrelated to the accident in the car which I had asked them to fix along with the accident damage. Bill came out to over 3k out of my pocket. Very dishonest incompetant and predatory mechanics, especially the one with the last name Reynolds. I will be taking my business elsewhere and recommend you do too.
My experience with don’s collision at best sucked. The collision work was terrible. The paint was worse. I asked them if they can fix it. The truck came back look worse than it did to begin with they do not care about you or your vehicle. Their work is horrible. Their customer service is worse, Dan himself is a very ignorant disrespectful person. As long as they got their money they do not care about you as an individual.
I set an appointment 2 weeks in advance and when I got there they didn't write it down and then told me that I'd have to wait because there were other people ahead of me and then I said that's why I made an appointment they got nasty with me so I just took my keys and took my car somewhere else I would not recommend this place to anybody and this was after it was possibly a warranty repair and I still will not give him my business they are disrespectful rude and snarky
Took my vehicle here after damage from ice. Repair took longer than it should have but that may have been due to the fleet management company not giving the approval as quick as they should. The problem started when I called to check status. I was told that the vehicle had been completed a couple of days ago but they were waiting on payment. I had my fleet company call but they were told by Sue that it wasn't ready and that they were waiting on parts. Called back and spoke to Steven, he said it was ready and that Sue would call back. No call back. Called back again left message for Sue or Steven... No call back. Went down there and talked to Don jr. He said he wasn't surprised that Steve didn't call back. Went down on Monday morning and immediately got attitude from Steven and Sue. They both said since I had a loaner vehicle I should just relax and not make such a big deal about getting my vehicle back. (The loaner was half the size of my regular van and no ladder rack) but seriously I don't need to justify why I need my van back. Had they been able to keep their vehicles straight and give correct info to the fleet company I would have had my vehicle back almost a week earlier. Terrible customer service and when I confronted them they got hostile with me. I will never take a vehicle here and now neither will our fleet company.
I have a 98 Corvette and I took it to Don’s Auto to have him paint my brake calipers red, paint the front clip and replace the Corvette emblem and also buff the car out. He had his son buff it and he totally messed it up, leaving swirl marks all over it. The painter missed a spot on the front clip. The brake calipers were sort of red. Don charged me $3500 and I told him I was VERY VERY UNHAPPY. He said he would fix it and to bring it back. WHY WOULD I DO THAT. I took it to Kennedy’s on Walden Ave, and they did a FANTASTIC JOB BUFFING IT TO A BEAUTIFUL SHINE. ITS TIME FOR DON TO REIMBURSE ME FOR THE JOB!
With 1 phone call I was able to get my car towed and was given a loaner car to drive while my car was being repaired very convenient to have a shop that can do everything I need on my vehicles....very happy
Don't really do reviews but just had called them about painting 2 fender for my car just to get quotes and they Literally was laughing at me when I just wanted them to paint the fenders and not blend any other and then when I ask for price they told me 800 and hung up on me. So yeah will now be going hear
Had my car towed here after an accident for them to store until insurance adjustor could evaluate/get estimate. Insurance totaled the vehicle and was willing to pay Don's for storage, but they added additional labor charges (prematurely inspecting vehicle) that weren't authorized by the insurance company. When I called Don/Steve they just kept telling me 'they don't rip off their clients' and didn't help solve the problem at all - an additional $900 was deducted from my insurance settlement money to pay Don's extra fees to release my car to the salvage yard.
This place was awful. Took 2 days to attempt to change a tire. I say attempt because they still never did it. I ended up having to go there to get my car and have someone else put wheels on. And when I did go there everyone was just sitting around. I do not recommend this place once so ever
HORRIBLE customer service, didn't notify me when they took APART PARTS OF MY CAR. My mother called to talk about it and the owner STARTED SCREAMING AND CUSSING AT HER. Got a tow truck to pick up my car and the next auto shop it got taken to said that they didn't even replace the parts they took out TOOK MY MONEY AND DIDN'T EVEN FIX THE CAR. 0/5 DO NOT RECOMMEND PLEASE DON'T TAKE YOUR CAR HERE HOPING TO GET IT FIXED.
This place is a absolute rip off. owner is rude as can be. I brought my 74 dart there for a simple steering repair and inspection he tried to tell me I need a whole new frame.basically cause my car won't pass inspection so I ask for a estimate and he tries to tell me they dont write them and I wont find out what I'll pay till the end. not to mention my car was covered in finger prints and dust plus a huge scrath to my bumper for the cherry in top. I called and confronted them and they just kept me on hold till I hung up. save your money and your car this place is a joke
Overall great experience! Loaner car was free and came as a great convenience!! Labor cost are a little high but if you want the job done right and 100% Guarantee!! Don is super cool also!!
They replaced my transmission and it was acting up due to a bad radiator I replaced the radiator and it ran smoothly again called to see if they could look to see if damage was done he said just cross your fingers hope it lasts and also got smart with me after I asked if they should've have at least looked to see if it was in working condition because it could be the cause of it but I guess they only fix things for big bucks and dont run through to make sure everything is in working to perform correctly especially with my work that's a bad idea not to look into everything and get some ducks in a row I DO NOT RECCOMEND THIS SHOP
