Our day was absolutely perfect, thanks to Abby, Jay, and the beautiful Maple Shade property! Even though our weekend turned out to be rainy, Abby and Jay put us completely at ease, seamlessly adjusting plans as needed. From the moment we chose our date, they were incredibly hands-on and helpful, guiding us through finding vendors and planning all the small details.

As a photographer who's had the privilege of capturing several weddings over the years, I can confidently say that Maple Shade 1785 stands out as one of the most charming and picturesque venues I’ve had the pleasure of working at. Built in 1785, this historic barn exudes rustic elegance with a timeless charm that creates the perfect backdrop for wedding photography.
The owners, Abby and Jay, are truly wonderful people. They’re always happy, funny, and extremely attentive to both guests and vendors alike. Their warm and welcoming personalities set the tone for an atmosphere that’s both relaxed and joyful, making my job much easier. They take great care to ensure that every wedding is unique and special, which is reflected in the seamless flow of events throughout the day.
The barn itself is stunning. Its vintage beams and weathered wood tell a story of history, while the surrounding landscape provides breathtaking natural beauty. Whether it’s capturing intimate moments indoors with the soft light filtering through the barn’s windows or shooting the wide-open views of the countryside, every corner of Maple Shade 1785 is a photographer’s dream.

My wife and I are beyond blessed to have chosen Maple Shade Farm for our wedding venue!
First of all, the location. Perfectly tucked away in the western Catskills, we fell in love as soon as we saw it. A beautiful rustic barn: upgraded, with all of the original charm. The stone walls of the orchard and beautiful pond. The sweeping meadow and picturesque hills rising up in the distance. Your photographer will be thanking you for picking such a great spot to capture your special day!
What really made Maple Shade stand out to us was how much was included. The barn has: a dining hall, dance floor, outdoor patio area, game room, full bar area, numerous seating areas, cozy corners and nooks to set up dessert, décor and favors. We thought it was so cool to have all those extra spaces, so your guests can have their pick of being closer to action on dance floor or grabbing a quieter corner to catch up on conversations. We booked Maple Shade for the entire weekend, holding a Friday Rehearsal Dinner as well as a Sunday Brunch the day after. It was an amazing deal, and most shocking, the cheapest venue that we looked at.
Second, the wonderful people that run Maple Shade: Abby and Jay Wilson. They were so kind, helpful and hardworking to make sure everything went perfect on our special day. Whether it was coordinating with the DJ and caterers, or guiding guests around the property, they did it all! Their professionalism and years of experience shone through, and they patiently answered all of our many, many questions to put our minds at ease. We loved how it was a family affair, with Abby and Jay and their kids all pitching in to help. They were so accommodating with whatever we needed: seating arrangements, picking of wedding arches, bus transportation, etc.
For us, we knew that wedding guests might not remember the table centerpieces. They might not remember the invitations or favors. But they will not forget the experience of Maple Shade Farm. Coming from New Jersey and NYC, Maple Shade was for many their first taste of the Catskills. And it did not disappoint, with many family and friends still telling us it was the best wedding they ever went to!

Maple Shade Farm is the most idyllic upstate wedding venue. Jay and Abby, the owners, are fun, organized, and overall incredible at creating a celebratory atmosphere, while also making us and our family feel comfortable. We knew from the moment we talked to them that we found our venue. They even graciously let us get married outside of the usual season and we planned it in under 4 months. They even toured us around in a blizzard to show us airbnbs for our families to stay. As others have said, they feel like friends you have known for years. It was the easiest wedding to plan with all their help. Abby created the most beautiful bouquet and flower arrangements from all my favorite flowers. Every detail was so beautiful and well thought out. Our families all said the photos don’t do it justice. It truly is a magical barn that takes on its own life with so many different rooms to prepare, eat, celebrate, dance, and even play fun games once the party is in full swing. They even created the cutest kids area with their own special food! Jay and Abby will go above and beyond for you and every vendor they recommend to create an absolutely amazing evening — there is no need to look beyond what they suggest. Having a wedding here was a dream.

We are finally getting around to posting our review about the most perfect wedding venue we could have imagined!
We saw Maple Shade November ‘22 when we were ‘shopping’ for a wedding venue; choosing it was a no brainer. The barn itself is unique and different than any others we have seen and it comes with everything. Dining area upstairs, separate from the cocktail hour, dancing, downstairs bar, lounge area, game room (this place has it all!). Long farm tables are gorgeous within themselves and need minimal decorations. And with the venue having SO MUCH on site, there was no need for us to order and prepare any other decor items like we would have needed at some of the ‘Blank Canvas’ barns we initially considered. The barn sits on acres and acres of land, giving you the option of where to have your ceremony, we chose right in front of the pond where our wedding party had a grand entrance from the large barn doors. MAGICAL!
Enough about the venue, although we hope this paints an accurate picture! Everything you could need is there!!
More importantly, Jay and Abby Wilson (owners of Maple Shade) are absolute rockstars. From our first visit and follow up phone call, we knew working together would be a breeze. They were helpful in our initial planning stages, helping us plan different details, offering extremely helpful advice. Wedding day they were like conductors of an orchestra, making sure everyone and everything were in place and running according to plan. It was PERFECT!
And when uncontrollable things don’t go to plan, they had us covered!
On our wedding day in late July, there was a high percentage of rain expected only during the time of our ceremony; Jay and Abby made the call that morning to put up a tent and made all the adjustments needed without causing bride and groom any extra stress… THANK GOD they did - it literally monsooned during the ceremony, like nothing we've seen before at an outdoor wedding! (Just a fluke storm rolling though).
They reminded us that as a bride and groom getting married at their venue, they make the same decisions for us and our guests that they would make for their own children. They are kind and caring and so fun, and certainly know how to run a wedding venue. We respected, trusted and appreciated all their knowledge and hard work. It’s definitely not their first rodeo!
As we will continue to call this day "the best day ever," we are very grateful to Jay and Abby for all of their help, attention to detail, and their ability to see and understand our vision for the most perfect wedding we could have imagined.
Ps- they made a few recommendations for supplementary vendors (catering, DJ, bartenders) and all their recommendations were also HOME RUNS! It was such a smooth operation.
(We did not use maple shade as a venue for our event, however..)
My new fiancé and I visited Maple Shade Farm today, as a possible wedding venue for 2024. And although we decided not to hire, we absolutely loved being able to visit this venue.
My partner and I are looking for a November 2024 wedding date. Maple Shade closes its venue after September (rightfully so, it gets pretty cold here in NY!) however, if we were having a summer wedding we would have absolutely booked with them!
The husband-owner Jay, who we met with today, is hands down one of the nicest people we've ever met! Jay took us for a tour around the venue, gave us a lot of great information about the site, and we could tell that Jay not only loves his business/job but that he truly puts so much care into it, too. Jay was very upfront that Maple Shade is all about the Couple, what they're looking for, and that they go above and beyond to make sure that happens. Jay told us "your like our kids for that day!!" Which was one of the sweetest things my fiancé and I have heard! Jay gave off such a warm, friendly, welcoming vibe. We did not get to meet his other half today, his wife, however how she speaks of her was adorable. You can tell they Both love what they do! He really gives you hope that amazing people truly do work in the wedding business!
Outside of Jay, this venue was just
... spectacular. This was 100% your "hometown humble barn" type feel. Very welcoming, cozy, and friendly, with a lot of really special little nooks to sit, relax, and unwind. We truly, truly loved this special little gem of a venue!
There wasn't a single thing we would have changed about this venue, were sad to be missing out on Maple Shade, but we have no doubt this place is perfect. The pictures do not do justice to how just truly very very special this venue is! It was really such a wonderful place to see with our own eyes!
The decor & all the little antique things that this venue provides is just seriously out of this world! We loved the old vibe it gave and how honestly it was basically already decorated in the perfect rustic barn vibe! They really have gone above and beyond with the decor and setting the "rustic, barn, farm" wedding vibe. We just absolutely loved it!

We first came to visit Maple Shade Farm in the off season. Though the barn and grounds were covered in snow, the property and Jay and Abby radiated warmth and we knew instantly that this was going to be our wedding venue.
Over the next 15 months we were in regular communication with Jay and Abby and they were always available for a quick chat and to talk us through any questions we had. A wedding is a funny thing in that you're only supposed to do it once so you have to rely on people with experience to help you through it and for us that was Jay and Abby.
The price was very reasonable and having access to their wonderful recommended vendors was truly the icing on the cake. From transportation to catering to bar services they offer access to a truly crack team who are not only experts in their dedicated field but friendly and flexible to boot.
From our gorgeous ceremony underneath a custom arbor and surrounded by Abby's beautiful flowers to our delicious plated dinner to our absolutely rocking party (late night hours at no additional cost is such an amazing perk!) our wedding at Maple Shade truly fulfilled the idea that your wedding day should be the best day of your life!
Jay and Abby helped us customize everything down to the smallest detail, even going so far as to set up a lovely tribute table to our cats. We are both fantasy nerds and so all along we asked Abby to help us decorate with an eye toward the whimsical stories we love so much and they executed it to a T. Our wedding at Maple Shade was truly a Fairytale!
Taste of the Catskills Festival. Was a great day. Plenty to do for the kids. Tons of vendors. Maple syrup products galore. Overall a good family fun day. Awestruck Ciders.

What an amazing place and atmosphere! The owners have created a truly remarkable event space in the countryside and this should be the go to spot for anyone planning a wedding, large event or festival! If you see any events coming up at Maple Shade, I highly recommend stopping by!
Maple Shade Farm...a truly unique wedding venue loved by all. We still have friends and family telling us how much FUN they had at our wedding and how awesome and ONE OF A KIND the venue was. Abby and Jay know how to coordinate and execute a wedding that every guest and couple won't forget. They were so helpful and understanding when the pandemic made us postpone a year. While it does take a lot of coordination and moving pieces - they will help you through each step if you need it. Once the wedding weekend hit, they made sure all the stress was gone and magical feeling of the wedding weekend was always present. When we arrived to drop off all our goodies on Thursday afternoon from when we picked them up on Sunday afternoon - we felt like we had been friends with them for years. Take a visit to see them and experience the all the feels for yourself - words truly can't express how cool of a place it is!

Maple Shade Farm (MSF) was the first and only venue we visited when searching for our perfect location to say “I Do”. It did not take long from the moment we pulled onto property, where the beautiful historic barn nestled in the Catskills lives, to realize our search was over. Although we toured MSF in the middle of winter, we could instantly picture our fall fairytale wedding. The heart of this beautiful venue is Jay and Abby; they are truly the definition of a dynamic duo. Despite the numerous texts, calls, and emails Jay and Abby were always there to provide reassurance, offer ideas/suggestions, and never made us feel like a bother. Jay and Abby made our vision come to life and far exceeded our expectations. Our guests were in awe and left speechless with the beauty of the day. MSF will forever hold a special place in our hearts.
My husband and I just had our wedding at Maple Shade and could not be any happier with our choice of venue! Jay and Abby are the best - so nice and extremely helpful in making your vision come to life. The farm is beautiful to begin with but after Abby has worked her magic it is breathtaking. Jay helps you with any planning/coordination questions you may have and helps you remember anything you might forget. They genuinely love what they do, where as other venues we looked at seemed to view us as ‘just another couple’, Jay and Abby saw us as people and really wanted to make our day special. The farm itself has something for everyone - a dreamy dining room, beaches by the pond for a quiet moment away from the party, a game room, a photo booth stocked with great props, and the most beautiful ceremony areas (yes more than one option!). And the character of the barn is unmatched. So many guests told us it was the best wedding they’d ever been to. We had a blast!
Booking our wedding at Maple Shade Farm was by far the best wedding decision we made. We got married on June 5th 2021 and it was the most unbelievable weekend. Jay and Abby are very special people who are amazing at what they do. We were supposed to get married June 2019 and it was effortlessly rescheduled for the following year without any difficulty or stress. Every step of the way Jay and Abby had our backs and offered real solutions. When our DJ fell through, within minutes they booked another one for us. When the welcome BBQ location fell through, without a thought they offered their property. Guests are still talking about the beautiful the location/property was and all the fun they had at our wedding. We feel very grateful to have found Maple Shade Farm and Jay and Abby. We will look back at our wedding weekend with nothing but joy and gratitude. We couldn't recommend Maple Shade enough.

My husband Jonathan and I always had our hearts set on getting married at Maple Shade and Jay and Abby gave us an incredible wedding weekend!! I could not thank them both enough for working with us to pull off a covid safe wedding! We had an absolute beautiful wedding that family and friends are still ranting and raving about! Jay and Abby’s vision is second to none and are overall dynamite people that clearly love what they do. The passion they put into our wedding was clear in the many amazing details found around the farm, giving us little personal touches everywhere, from the chalkboard quotes to the table decorations, to the whiffle ball field set up for me! They also allowed me to be their first bride to trash the dress in their pond, a tiktok video that now has over 1 million views! (@CheersandChills) thank you again to both Jay and Abby! As a wedding planner, working with Abby & Jay on our mutual clients’ wedding this past August was amazing. Their property is so beautiful and offers so many perfect photo opportunities (plus Jay makes sure that the bride, groom, and photographers were able to hit all the best ones… some of them up the side of a mountain) The barn has unique vignettes throughout, curated thoughtfully with vintage curiosities, lighting fixtures, and furniture. Things that would have been costly to rent (like bars, furniture, vintage props, dessert stands), are included and match the wedding day aesthetic perfectly. Abby also created all of the floral elements for the wedding including bouquets, boutonnieres, ceremony floral, cocktail arrangements, and beautiful, whimsical floral/greenery runners. The bride was blown away by her bouquet! Jay & Abby always had a solution or a suggestion for everything… they are very connected to the nearby local communities and were so helpful in recommending fantastic local vendors… they even helped arrange a late night pizza delivery and a surprise fireworks show! Abby and Jay take exceptional care of their couples, their guests AND their vendors (THANK YOU!) and do whatever it takes to ensure their client experiences the best of Maple Shade Farm in an exceptionally personalized way. Thank you, Jay and Abby, for making me feel so welcome and for taking such great care of our bride and groom!
I've helped cater several weddings over the past 3-4 years. Jay and Abby are great hosts. Always there to offer whatever is needed. The property is beautiful and well maintained. Perfect place for an amazing and unique wedding.
This is the friendliest farm! We are at the Taste of The Catskills festival. There are so many excellent tastings and displays. The potato pancakes are outrageous! Definitely visit this place!
Beautiful and very well-taken care of venue, acres upon acres of beautiful greenery. Landscaping at its finest over here. The barn is extremely detailed and plenty to do inside. 2 floors of seating and dancing space during the reception. I recommend this venue for sure !
Came for the Taste of the Catskills. Beautiful day, beautiful property. Everything was set up perfectly for family fun. Cant say how the farm is without the festival, but it was a great day.
The owners Jay and Abby are marvelous people who provided a wonderfully romantic and beautiful setting for our son's wedding. It was the best wedding exceeding all our expectations. Hats off to them .
Old, rustic barn thst is available for events. Taste of the Catskills festival highlights local food, wines & spirits. Live music, "Farmers Olympics" games (sack races, wood stacking, etc.), and bouncy houses for the kids offer fun activities for everyone to take part in.
Until you see it... you have NO IDEA whats you're missing!
Jay and Abby are not only the owners.... but they are the most amazing couple, and have now become our life long friends after recently having our wedding in their amazing barn!
While I sit and try to do them justice enough so that you know that you won't be disappointed... I simply can't... they are just beyond incredible at what they do! Jay does the heavy lifting, and Abby takes care of the aesthetics... and in the end, you and your guests won't be able to handle how beautiful it will all be! Every single guest, and even people who were not there, have been bombarding me with questions comments about how we pulled off this unbelievably beautiful and unique event! "Like nothing I've ever seen before... it's was just amazing, seriously!... honestly so unique and special...straight out of Pinterest... you're wedding should've been blogged" and on and on!
If you're looking for a beautiful rustic barn in the Catskills... I'm telling you... NO ONE will be able to do it like do!
p.s. WHEN you go... ask Jay who they made their special bar for... YUP... that'd be us! 3 days before the wedding!!! Oh yeah... and our candy bags... Abby secretly had them rush ordered right after I sent them to her on pinterest just to say how cute they were!!
