This review is written by Tracy LaBello and Eddie P. Greene. As my love and I were talking about where to go for Valentine’s Day, I suggested The Babbling Brook Watering Hole and Eatery. It was Highly recommended by a few coworkers. We arrived at the restaurant to an excellent rustic section of the woods as the restaurant appeared. We had 430 reservations. As we walked in, the restaurant staff was extremely personable and welcoming. We were sat promptly. Our waitress was awesome, extremely professional, while still personable and accurate. We ordered our appetizers and meals. The first appetizer that came out was pretzel bites w Beer Cheese. The presentation was INTENSE, loading all of those pretzel bites into a High, Tall beer mug which was at least 32 ounces. The next appetizer was Bacon wrapped Perogies with hot honey sauce. Absolutely Delicious! A cheesey potato filled dumpling wrapped in crisp bacon and drizzled with thick Hot Honey Sauce. Just enough Sweet and Spicy to make your mouth water. Then the Entree came out. The entree that I ordered was The Bababooey Burger AKA THE McGANG BANG. There are those of us out there that grew up eating the Biggest Burgers or the Biggest Steaks available, no matter how Large or Heavy. This Burger did not Disappoint. As a matter of fact it was much better than I had perceived. This Burger contains 2 Burgers which I ordered Rare, 2 Breaded Fried Chicken Cutlets smooshed between brioche buns with lettuce, Bacon, tomato, Cheddar, mayo, pickles and onions. I ordered with Extra Cheese. Also found out that it was optimal dipping it into the beer cheese. The fries were awesome especially with ketchup. Grant you, I also ordered 4 ounces of Lobster Meat in Butter which was the Best I’ve had in years. My Soulmate ordered the Filet Mignon cooked Medium Well with Smashed Potatoes, Green bean Almondine with sautéed portobello mushrooms smothered with whole grain mustard sherry cream. It was the best Filet Mignon that she had had in 20 years. She also had the lobster bisque which was amazing. New England taste without the travel. To end this amazing delicious meal we had to go with the Strawberries and Cream. This Simple yet Elegant dessert is a variation of strawberry shortcake, with keeping tradition. It has drunken strawberries and House made whipped cream but to dress up this classic, it is all scooped over light and sweet puffed pastry. Yummy!! To finish, we would ABSOLUTELY Highly Recommend The Babbling Brook Watering Hole and Eatery which we already have verbally on the way home and in our travels. ENJOY GUYS
It was lunch in a Sunday so it was pretty quiet. The service was great, the sun dried tomato infused cesar salad was really good! I paid $5 extra for crispy battered chicken which was VERY good! I wouldnt normally brag on a $16 salad but I couldn't finish it.....It was a meal! I will definitely come back to try more menu items!
We went out looking for a quaint place for a drink and appetizer. Several places were about to close at 9pm so we chose Babbling Brook because they were open until 11pm.
The ambiance was amazing, the bar was full of people laughing and having fun. The food was great and the best part was our server, “Winter” she was funny, personable and made us laugh! Definitely will visit again next time we are in town.
I’ve been hearing about this place for quite some time and since my son lives close by we decided to give it a try. My husband had a turkey club and it was huge. He couldn’t eat it all. My son had the Druken Rooster and he said it was really good. I had the Crispy Chicken Marsala which was over mashed potatoes. It was delicious. We would definitely go back.
My husband and I and our 5 year old son love coming to The Babbling Brook! The food is amazing and creative, and the portions are so so generous. Tonight I was in the mood for a salad, and I have ordered lots of salads at many other places and they were nothing special. I should have known they'd even do salad well! My buffalo chicken cobb was absolutely amazing, with generous portions of all the toppings, and they got my requests correct for things I did not want on it. They also give enough dressing, and then some! They have such unique menu items, it can be hard to choose! The wait staff is always so friendly and welcoming, and it's just such a fun spot to come and relax! We continue to tell everyone we know how much we love The Babbling Brook, and we are so happy to have a regular spot to go!
Tried this spot on a friend’s recommendation and it didn’t disappoint. The green bean fries were super crispy and addictive—definitely a must-order appetizer. I had the shepherd’s pie for my main and it was pure comfort food: rich, hearty, and full of flavor. The atmosphere felt warm and rustic, like a cozy countryside pub. Perfect place for a relaxed night out. Will be back soon!
What an amazing experience! I tried a Thanksgiving chowder and it is definitely my favorite. It’s a potato and turkey chowder with stuffing and cranberry sauce. So so good!! The service was outstanding as well, such friendly people! Strongly recommend!
What a total gem this place is! We've been coming up to berne for years, my husband his whole life and we are so excited about this place after trying it. Great cozy spot, looks like a ton of fun outside when it's a bit warmer. The food was excellent, our waitress was awesome and the drinks were delicious. My toddlers never make it through a meal out without someone going insane, and they both loved it. Not to mention my husband typically complains about food (real critic) and he loved it all here. Can't wait to come back again and try a few new things!
Had a great night out with the wife. They were a little busy when we got there and there was going to be a little wait for a table. We went to the bar to grab a drink while we waited and ended up sitting there the rest of the night. The staff throughout the restaurant (especially in the bar area) was super friendly. The kitchen staff was on point as they powered through order after order of great food. The portions are plentiful and if you go home hungry, it's your own fault. The prices are very reasonable (especially in today's world) and you definitely get your money's worth. Will absolutely be eating here again.
Their burgers are out of control. Ice cream on a hot honey chicken sandwich? Was it a stroke of genius, or pure madness? Either way, it was delicious and the portion was great. Eat it fast, though, that ice cream melted fast.
The food was just so SO good! Green bean fries, and the Drunken Rooster is what I tried and was hands down the best chicken sandwich Ive ever had. Lots of seating inside and out and they also had music and dancing down at the outdoor bar and pavilion. Really fun spot and cant wait to go back!!
Found this place purely by accident. Decided to give it a try and glad we did. The restaurant was comfortably rustic and tables were separated with enough room.
I had a French Dip with fries that was very good. My wife had a sandwich with green bean fries. The green bean fries were delicious as I kept stealing hers. Our friend had Shepherds Pie which looked different than I expected but he said was good. Will definitely be back.
I got the burger and Homemade Cajun coleslaw which was delicious and all the ingredients very fresh. Smoking bourbon old fashioned was solid (premade in mason jar which I appreciate for the soaked cherry and consistency). But wow the key lime pie was absolutely amazing! Homemade crust has something extra in it (coconut?). Overall good for everyone- if you want basic sure but they have great creative options that take the menu to the next level and attention to detail that elevates.
Great location to top it all off with personable staff. Highly recommend.
Finding the best Mozerella sticks in the Capital District

Y’all when I tell you I have absolutely no complaints. The mozzarella sticks were huge. Nice crust to them, beautiful cheese pull .
Also got 10 pb&j wings. All flats
 Absolutely delicious. The sauce had a little spicy kick to it. Everything just came together.
Restaurant was clean. Our waitress was lovely. And the food came out super fast.

Amazing food, very creative menu, and wonderful friendly, professional, and welcoming staff. The portions are huge and the prices reasonable. The setting is beautiful. Cannot wait to go back!
My son and I stopped in today for lunch and wow we were not disappointed!!! Our server was attentive, sweet and full of smiles. Their food is impeccable, huge portions and delicious. The atmosphere is friendly and down home. We have found our favorite place and will be back soon. Thank you for our amazing lunch❤️
Great place. Enjoyed our lunch. We both got the French onion soup, and entree salads. The staff was very professional and friendly. Seating at the bar was comfortable, and had a nice vibe.
Perfect place for a lovely summer drive to enjoy some unique ways of presenting dinner. We started with fries, bbq,cheese, and brisket along side of boneless raspberry Asiago wings. A cheeseburger slider Bloody Mary went well with the appetizers. For the main course we enjoyed their specialty burger and Sheppard pie. Finished with desert to go of key lime pie, pink lemonade cake and chocolate cake. Be prepared to take food home as the portions were large. I don’t recall the name of our lovely 19 year old waitress who could teach a course on how to be pleasant professional and gave excellent service. The reason for five stars is not just what has been stated but also the owner came out personally to see how we were enjoying our meal.
Some of the previous reviews were iffy in regard to the temperature of the food and the service. Our food was served extremely fast and the temperature was fine. As for the service, the place was packed, at least four tables of six people each, and multiple individuals at two tops and four tops, we didn’t feel that it was slow. Others may have thought that but we didn’t, especially given the number of people present. We brought cards and other table games for our kids and no one complained. Our waitress was excellent, very apologetic about what she believed was slow service (we didn’t feel that way), and attentive to our kids’ needs. The food itself was rich in flavor (the poutine fries with brisket was amazing) and our kids loved the fries (both normal and sweet potato). Will definitely return.
Wow. That's my review. This place is such a crazy hidden oasis in the middle of nowhere. I got a Reuben, and everything from the corned beef to the side of pickles was home made. How have I not heard of this place before!!!
Cute spot. Large space with nice bar, service and food was good. Got the clams they were fresh and delicious. Hubby got the Rachel which he also enjoyed.
We enjoyed Easter Brunch at Babbling Brook this past Sunday. It was our first time there, and we will definitely be back to try out the regular menu.
We arrived to find an Easter basket, with pastries and candies in it for us to enjoy. After a few minutes, we ordered and received our drinks and then headed to the buffet.
There was a really nice assortment of options. Breakfast included eggs, French toast, Belgian waffles, pancakes, homemade sausage, bacon, and homefries. Also, bagels with cream cheese and lox, a variety of fruit, and caprese salad.
Lunch items included cocktail shrimp, green beans, ham, scalloped potatoes, baked salmon, the most delicious short rib, and pesto tortellini. There were also chicken nuggets and mac and cheese for the kids and an assortment of desserts.
The service was courteous and friendly, with plates removed regularly before we went back up. Pretty sure my husband got his money's worth just in the amount of short rib he ate (I have to admit, it was amazing).
There is a beautiful outdoor area as well for the warmer months and a deck for outside dining.
Definitely recommend checking this place out if you haven't been.
I noticed a Facebook post from the babbling brook and realized I had no idea what it was. So when we were thinking of where to go to dinner tonight we decided to try it. At 5:30 pm on a Saturday we snagged the last inside table that was not reserved. So I definitely recommend reservations on a Saturday night. The atmosphere was great. Adorable little place with a nice bar. The staff was awesome, super accommodating and friendly. While we were waiting for a table multiple waitresses let us know they saw us and would be right with us. The food was amazing. Their French fries look homemade and we're delicious, perfectly crispy! I had the French dip sandwich which was perfect, my husband had a turkey club which he said was amazing. And our son had a grilled cheese from the kids menu. They have excellent bar options and great kids menu drinks. 20/10 we will definitely be returning soon!
The Babbling Brook Cafe,Berne N.Y. we stopped at this Cafe ordered mac n cheese,was a disappointing dish, cheese was not baked into pasta,you tasted plain bits of pasta,no cheese taste and pasta was topped on overcooked French fries,extremely disappointing, also ordered a orange soda,wait staff gave me orange creme soda and no glass which was foul tasting and I returned , I told wait staff that I ordered a regular orange soda, not orange creme, she did not remove the charge from bill. Ordered smash burger with cheese,very bland,no seasoning, you had to add salt ,pepper to give some taste,again French fries was overcooked, very disappointing. The turkey club was well made but again side of French fries was overcooked.chicken wings was also bland and chicken tenders was dry and lacked taste/seasoning. Wait staff was not very ambitious to provide excellent service,you have 4 wait staff standing by bar playing with cell phone and chit chatting, getting their attention was challenging. I asked for bill and noticed a surcharge of $4.00 on top of $110 bill ,there was no notice in the restaurant, nor did wait staff inform customers of surcharge.I questioned owner and she was extremely rude about surcharge and kept trying to justify credit card surcharge, this restaurant is more concerned with price gouging on subpar food and refuse to take charge off for wait staff error on soda. In this business you expect excellence and professionalism because there are restaurant that compete with excellence in product and in today's inflation crisis you must provide quality food product and customer relations if you want to stay relevant. This Babbling Brook was a huge regrettable, disappointing experience and wait staff needs to be trained when serving a drink, a glass would be sufficient and not drinking out of a bottle is what customer expect. I wish them luck .
Our first time here. The food was amazing especially the boneless parmesan wing. Our waitress was wonderful. We will definitely be back! Very delicious.
We found this place randomly after an evening at the state park. Very memorable place, everything is 10/10. I have 2 toddlers and they loved sitting by the window and watching the creek, very friendly family place. Food was amazing and after we spent about half an hour just walking around outside enjoying the view. A definite must, and I look forward to coming back on my next visit!
A bit of the beaten path but worth the detour. Nice restaurant with unique offerings. Indoor or outdoor seating. Service was a bit slow but the food was delicious! Unfortunately they were out of a couple of things we wanted to try so will have to come back. Hopefully by then the ice cream place next door will also be open.
Fried chicken. Spicy hot honey. Vanilla bean ice cream. The Hot Honey Crispy Chicken Ice Cream Sandwich is an intriguing combination.
The Babbling Brook is about a 40mn drive southwest of Albany and if the name wasn't any indication, it's located right next to a brook.
Their location is great for a spring, summer or warm fall day. There is available seating outdoors and also a large grassy area near the brook where you can just relax and enjoy nature.
We ordered bacon-wrapped pierogies, boneless wings tossed in PB&J sauce (not pictured), garlic asiago fries, 2 chicken sandwiches, and a Philly cheesesteak wrap (also not pictured, sorry).
The boneless wings were delicious. Deep-fried so they were crispy. And the meat wasn't dried out. The PB&J sauce was awesome too.
The bacon-wrapped pierogies were great. The bacon wasn't burnt to a crisp and paired well with the pierogies.
The roasted garlic asiago fries were bomb.com!
I opted for hot sauce drizzled on mine and I thought they were awesome. The melted cheese tasted great and my own improvement would've been adding more of it.
Let's talk about that chicken sandwich though.
It's a novelty sandwich. I haven't seen it done before and only recently learned about it through a local foodies group.
The sandwich tasted okay and I will be trying it again. I just felt as if the ice cream was too much and spicy honey didn't bring the heat like I hoped it would.
Next time I'll add bacon and request just 1 scoop of ice cream rather than the 3 it came with haha
All in all, we will be returning. The service was quick and our food arrived to the table hot. Our meal didn't break the bank and the drive provided an opportunity to relax and enjoy the trip.
I have been wanting to try The Babbling Brook since they opened and tonight my sister and I finally went. To say I’m happy we did is an understatement. We couldn’t decide what to get because everything on the menu sounded so good so we got a few different things to try. The food was out of this world delicious and our server Cassidy went above and beyond. She was so sweet, outgoing and on top of things. Phenomenal experience overall and cannot wait to go back and try more items!
