What clients say about Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs Resort & Spa in Ojo Caliente (NM)

We had an incredible experience at Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs Resort & Spa. My partner and I came here to relax and recharge, and it exceeded our expectations. The mineral pools are wonderfully diverse, which makes it easy to spend an entire day soaking without ever getting bored. Each pool has its own temperature and mineral composition, so moving between them becomes part of the experience. It really feels like a slow, restorative journey for your body. One of the highlights for us was the mud bath, which was such a fun and unique addition. It’s not something you get to do at most hot springs, and the process of covering yourself in mineral-rich mud, letting it dry in the sun, and then rinsing off before soaking again felt both playful and deeply relaxing. The entire property has a peaceful, grounding atmosphere. The desert landscape surrounding the resort adds to the sense of calm, and there are plenty of quiet spaces to sit, rest, and take in the environment between soaks. You can tell the resort is designed with relaxation in mind. We also appreciated how easy it was to spend hours there without feeling rushed. Between the different pools, the mud experience, and the serene setting, the time just melts away. It’s the kind of place where you naturally slow down and disconnect from the busyness of everyday life. Overall, we left feeling refreshed, relaxed, and already talking about when we might come back. It’s a truly special destination for anyone looking to unwind and experience one of the most unique hot springs environments in the Southwest.

Well the pools were nice everything was clean. The food was amazing. But during my visit i encountered, I encountered somebody locking down the same path The opposite direction I was going. It looked like an employee because there was a name tag that red sabina. She had tattoos on her hands. We saw each other coming And I moved off the path as far as I could to make room for her but she rudely just stared me down and bumped her shoulder into mine very hard. I don't like drama, so I just ignored it. But I thought that was rude of her. Other than that I had an amazing day.

Amazingly relaxing. We went during some construction and it was still a wonderful experience. Plenty of different pools and spas. The rooms were an experience of their own, super cozy and comfortable. The massages were also a great reset for tense muscles! The restaurant was an ambient and delicious high end experience, would recommend try as much as you can for breakfast, lunch and dinner! Definitely would recommend for special occasions!!!

Manager working the check-in desk on 2/16/26 was not friendly and was NOT attentive to anything we said. My husband and I checked in to soak for the day after making reservations with their package deal. Manager seemed irritated when she asked when our private soak was scheduled. I stated repeatedly the time of our reservation…When we asked if the price reflected 20% off-since we were staying in their rv accomodations,-the manager stated abruptly with no explanation or other suggestions, “our packages do not apply to 20% off.” Slammed robes down and assumed we knew what to do… No worries because everyone else was really cool. Beautiful scenery and trails, hot springs were fancy and super hot. Side note: I have worked hospitality for years, and this gal managing the front desk needs either a vacation or a snickers because she seemed angry.

What a gem of a place! From the super friendly and helpful staff to the gorgeous, tranquil settings, we had a lovely time. The pools were amazing and the vibe was great. We were road tripping through New Mexico to celebrate my husband's 50th birthday, and a friend told us to stay here. We should have booked two nights! I forgot that I had mentioned in the reservation that this was a birthday celebration, and to our surprise the staff put prosecco and cookies in our room, along with a birthday card. That was so sweet and special. We forgot our charger during check out, and lost and found was able to locate it and ship it back to us right away. We stayed at the Inn at Ojo, which was about a quarter mile down the road from the main resort. The distance wasn't an issue at all, the only slight downside was that the walls between the rooms were quite thin and we could hear guests in the other rooms. Next time we'll book a different room -- and stay at least 3 nights. Thank you to the wonderful staff at Ojo, we very much appreciate you.

I almost don't want to review because I want to keep Ojo to myself! But I can't help it. I rave about Ojo to anyone who will listen. It's the most beautiful location and there is so much history here. The staff is ALWAYS kind and helpful and respectful and I always look forward to coming here. I am always so sad when I have to leave. The hot springs and spa services are some of the best in the country in my opinion. Any improvements made to the spa in the last few years have all been extremely positive and never taken away from the heart of the spa. Already looking forward to our next trip!

I purchased a soak day pass hoping for a relaxing spa experience, but unfortunately it fell short. The overall atmosphere felt much more like a public pool than a spa. Large groups were talking loudly in the pools, and staff did not intervene to maintain a quiet, restful environment, which really detracted from the experience. Beyond the soaking pools, the amenities were quite limited compared to what I’d expect from a spa at this price point. The pools themselves weren’t particularly hot, there was only one infrared sauna, no cold plunge or truly cold pools, and no comfortable indoor relaxation space. While the outdoor hammocks are likely enjoyable in warmer months, they aren’t practical when it’s around 40 degrees, leaving no inviting indoor area to unwind. Towel service was also disappointing, there were no clean towels available when I needed one. Overall, this was a disappointing experience given the cost, and it did not deliver the tranquil, well-managed spa environment I was expecting.

The place is nice. The staff is very friendly and the restaurant is very good. A few things were not so great. We stayed the night there for around $500 to $600 per the night. The place was beautiful but, the floors were nasty. We had a private mineral pool which wasn’t great either. There was a bunch of dirt, leafs, and bugs in it. For the price, I was expecting more from our room. Pretty big let down considering that. Regardless, the community ones were definitely worth while.

While in the area I decided to spend an afternoon at the hot springs. The staff were uniformly friendly and I mean genuinely friendly! The hot tub areas were very peaceful and relaxing with the expectation of having quiet in those spaces. They have some very funky wonderful Airstream like trailers that you could rent out in their Campground as well as lodging on site with a few trails. All in all just a delightful space well-appointed and calm. If you are looking for a place to relax for a day or more this should be on your radar

I’ve visited Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs & Spa many times and usually love the experience, especially the new pools. On my most recent visit, arriving at 8 pm and paying the full $65 rate felt unfair. Starting around 9 pm, loud cleaning began, including pressure washing and scrubbing in the steam room that could be heard from the pools near the bathhouse, along with an employee loudly pulling out the pool cover while guests were still soaking. These shutdown activities disrupted the quiet, relaxing environment the resort strictly enforces. If the spa is open until 10 pm, guests should be able to enjoy a peaceful experience until closing, or there should be a discounted late-entry rate.

My girlfriends and I had a fantastic time celebrating my 50th birthday at Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs and Spa. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, and the mineral pools were pristine and inviting. The locker rooms were also well-maintained and equipped with their lovely smelling bath products. The restaurant served delicious New Mexican cuisine, and I highly recommend trying their dishes. I would definitely stay at Ojo Caliente again and recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing and enjoyable getaway.

I was incredibly impressed with my recent stay. If you are looking for rest and relaxation, this is the ultimate getaway. While I love children, the adult-only environment created a truly tranquil atmosphere. The restaurant serves authentic New Mexican cuisine with a unique twist, and the hot springs were among the cleanest I have ever visited. The staff member was a pleasure to interact with; they truly went above and beyond the norm. I will definitely be back.

I LOVE THIS PLACE!! My mom and I traveled here in July and my husband and I came back in January! I love the food, the staff, the views, and the mineral pools. This place brings me peace. Shout out to all the staff that work hard to provide you with an experience. Ask for Sara to get a massage and join a yoga class with Johanna. This is the best yoga class I have ever taken. Housekeeping and Restaurant staff are the best. Come here stay a week and transform your life. Thank you for a wonderful time! I will be back soon!

This is an excellent place to relax and enjoy the hot natural springs. Relaxation and quiet is a theme here. "Honor the tranquility" is posted throughout the area. There are plenty of places to top off your water bottle. The different pools offer different things for your soaking needs. I particularly liked the Arsenic, Iron, and Lithia pools. The restaurant/bar offered delicious food with locally gown ingredients, from their own farm. The fireplace within the rooms we stayed in was a very nice and romantic feature and the rack outside of our room was refilled twice a day to keep us with plenty of wood. I couldn't think of anything to complain about. Truly it was a very nice place and will 100% go back.

Had a great time here, pools were on point. Plenty of different temps to bounce around from. Did a private soak to finish the night and Cameron from the bath house delivered some excellent service. He was professional and courteous, thank you!

Highly recommend treating yourself to an overnight here as opposed to a day pass. The pools are great in the evenings after crowds thin and especially morning before the day use crowds start to arrive. Plan to enjoy a couple meals at the restaurant (remember to make a reservation for dinner). Food is a little pricey, but the menu and service have always been spot on for me. I am gluten-free, and everything is clearly labeled for special diets. The rooms in the historic hotel can be chilly in winter, so bring warm pajamas! Great, peaceful spot in the high desert where people have been coming for 1,000’s of years to soak and relax.

I was on a short trip to Taos so I stopped here for lunch and a soak. The food at the restaurant was awful - way too salty (thank god the beer was good). I wouldn't eat at the restaurant again. The springs were a little over $60 for a day pass, I was only going to be able to stay for a couple hours so probably a little expensive for what I needed but I wanted to try it out. Staff were friendly/helpful and pools were nice and clean. I wouldn't say it was a quiet experience, people were definitely having conversations but that didn't bother me but if you're looking for silence this isn't the spot. Beautiful views and a great variety of pools.

I love coming here and soaking, unfortunately the last two trips have been disastrous. Body fluids floating in our private tub (sure you can guess what I’m talking about) and the most rude bar tender ever. She was rude the last two trips. The restaurant manager ga e is the worst excuse for the bar tender yelling at us in front of a crowded bar and made no attempt of correcting the issue. The saving grace was Rick. He was AMAZING, empathetic and understanding, helped us when we had the private tub issue and when we got to our vintage trailer the tv didn’t work, he sent out maintenance right away(although maintenance had no idea how to fix the issue and only tried to power cycle the dish box) he called back before he left to see if the issue got resolved and was apologetic. He is the reason I’m not leaving a lower rating. Thank you for all you did Rick!!! He definitely gets 5 stars! Exceptional service. This may be the last trip we spend money on to this location though ..

Oh my lord. So relaxing. We got the day pass on a Saturday for the 9 pools, and oh wow, it was incredible. Just stunning landscapes, delightful hot water, and an overall relaxing vibe. The staff was also so friendly. Special shout-out to Justine at the front counter for answering all of our questions and helping us with a local resident discount. 10/10 would return.

Took my wife here for your20th anniversary. Had heard good thing about the cliff side rooms and private soak tubs. We were disappointed and the rooms and private tube left a lot to be desired. First of all we spent $500 for a night. The cliff side room Says kitchenette. Our bathroom sink was the kitchen sink. They provide a couple of plates and cups and silverware. They have a small fridge and small microwave. I was expecting something to cook on when advertised as kitchenette. The public soak tubs were nice and we enjoyed those. The private soak tube was a large bath tub that had cracked porcelain and what looked like rust exposed. The stopper for the drain wouldn’t seal so we had to leave the water running the entire time. We still made the best out of it and enjoyed each others company l, but as I mentioned they left a lot to be desired with the rooms. I expected more for the price.

Magical experience! My massage therapist, Christian was very experienced and took the time before our session to get to know me and my needs. Highly recommend booking a massage when visiting. The pools were very relaxing and definitely felt the healing. The atmosphere was breathtaking and definitely worth the visit! Staff wasn’t too helpful but we did go on a Saturday. They were extremely busy so this could have been the reason. Restaurant and bar had the best pizza that is cooked in an open fire. Hands down one of our top favorites during our stay in New Mexico!

Great place to relax! Camerohn has great customer service and recommendations to make the stay at Ojo Caliente even better. Everyone we talked to was super friendly and genuinely wanted us to have a good experience. I appreciate the quietness and how they strongly encourage no one talk above a whisper. This really enhances the relaxation you can achieve. If you can, do yourself a favor and go soak at ojo!

If your budget is on the higher side, I strongly recommend not staying at the Inn at Ojo. It’s the farthest property from the main campus, and the low, cramped buildings have zero charm. Honestly, it looks like a budget motel—except a motel might cost $50 a night, while this place charges $350. At that price, you’d expect an upgrade… but instead it just feels like you’re paying more for less. The room itself looks fine at first glance, except for the bizarre distressed green wardrobe. It has such an eerie vibe that it feels like some ancient spirit might crawl out at any moment. The soundproofing is absolutely terrible. Once someone checks in next door, you’ll hear everything. And I mean everything—clear enough that you can picture the whole scene in your head. It’s honestly more “entertaining” than watching TV; with some luck, it might even turn into an unintended 18+ experience. And the coffee… I don’t even know where to begin. It’s hard to believe that at this price point, you can’t simply enjoy a decent cup of coffee in your room with someone you care about. Overall, if you’re on a tight budget, this place is “okay.” But if you have options, there are much better stays at Ojo Caliente - save yourself the disappointment. 2 star for hot spring, relax and pressure relief!

Beautiful property with incredible pools. Dinner was also amazing at the restaurant. Both saunas were not hot and the pools smelled like laundry detergent. I was there last night soaking around 7 pm. Also at the new pools upstairs people were making cell phone videos and their ringer kept going off. Security? Please make bathing suits illegal here. Laundry detergent smell in the pools made it not a relaxing experience

I haven’t been here in 20 years. It was worth the wait. The food was to die for. Helen gave an awesome massage and gave me a Medusa hair do. But the icing on the cake was Melissa. I left my favorite pair of shoes. She made the process of getting them back easy or downright pleasant. Oh I can’t forget Lori our favorite most relatable server in the restaurant! Thanks Team Ojo.

I recently found out you can soak for free on your birthday. My son and I decided to go check it out. It was such a great experience. I wish I had gone sooner. The drive isn't too bad from Albuquerque; about 2 hours. We did the day pass. It's a very nice place. All the different soaking areas were great. It's so beautiful during the day but especially at dusk. The only thing I wished I had done differently is go earlier. I was trying to wait until the temperature was higher before we went, but honesty, the pools were so warm that even the cool breeze wasn't a big deal. The staff were helpful, but not super friendly. A little smile goes a long way. I will definitely return. I think this is my new favorite place. :)

My wife and I just spent a night in the Cliffside Suites for our honeymoon. We had gotten engaged here 2 years prior and just needed to come back! The tranquility and peaceful quiet is unmatched. With the Cliffside Suites you get your own Kiva fireplace, large living space, kitchenette, and a private patio with your own private hotspring tub. As with most of Northern New Mexico, the still, clear night skies make for some of the best star viewing you can ask for. The private large soaking spring makes for less hassle and much more privacy makes for a perfect get away. We had a complimentary half bottle of sparkling wine for our honeymoon. The perfect romantic couples getaway with the best location Northern New Mexico has to offer. Restaurant is reasonably priced and the food is delicious!

This was my second visit and wow what an amazing experience. This is truly an oasis in the desert mountains! It is very fancy and resort like in a small town in the middle of nowhere. This resort has everything you could want in a hot springs spa experience. And the restaraunt and wine bar are fantastic as well. The restaraunt has unique farm to table southwestern inspired cuisine and has vegan, vegetarian and carnivore options. This is a destination every time im in this area!

We had a wonderful girls getaway (4 nights) at Ojo Caliente. All five of us stayed on property and had a mixture of accommodations....all suits in varying sizes from the Plaza Suite up to the Posi Suite. We gathered in the evening at the Posi Suite as it's large enough to accommodate the entire group for drinks, casual dinner, and soaking in the hot tub on the private patio. Each of us was happy with our accommodations. I gave 4 stars on rooms because a couple of us had bathrooms that while fine could use some updating. We went to the spa twice while at Ojo and loved our services and the technicians. The star of the resort is the natural beauty all around and the amazing mineral pools. They offer a 9:00 am yoga class in the morning. Each instructor was knowledgable, welcoming and friendly and the class is free! Arrive 10 mins early as the class is limited to 15 and fills up. We all came away restored and refreshed. A BIG shout out to Danny who mans the gate house!!!! He is so friendly and jumped right in when we needed help taking a group photo in front of the beautiful Ojo sign. I am already planning my next trip back to Ojo!

Lovely location, wonderful mineral pools. We purchased a private soak and day pass for just under $200 for 2. Our booking experience with Michelle was informative and pleasant. When booked, I was told to arrive at least 30 mins prior to the private soak. Admittedly, we arrived closer to an hour before our reservation. Upon arrival, we were rudely greeted by Justine who, in no uncertain terms indicated it didn’t matter what we were told upon booking but would not be allowed to enter until 10 am, the time of our booking and when the pools were open to the public. Interesting, given I was also offered a private pool reservation times prior to 10 am. While her message may have been accurate, there certainly could have been more finesse in the delivery. Disappointing to later learn Justine was a manager, given her insufficient skills in basic customer service management. To pass time, we enjoyed walking around the gardens and gift shop until we were allowed to enter as day guests just prior to our private pool appointment time. Our private pool host, Zach, was fantastic and the rest of the staff was helpful and courteous. It was unfortunate our introduction to Ojo Caliente was so poor. If we return, it will most certainly be as return hotel guests to the Santa Fe location.
