If they want to close early, they should close early. But change your posted hours of operation so you’re not wasting people’s’ time and fuel. I could’ve gone to 2nd street, this place was two minutes quicker. Now I’ve got a truckload of scrap metal to haul around for another day. The reviews tell you all you need to know

Make sure you watch them weigh your metal, they almost shorted me 10 pounds on brass. I had to back where they have their scales and watch them reweigh it and reissue me a receipt that was correct.

Watch out with some of the workers here, they will under pay for metals like copper. I had good experiences in the past here but recently workers are ringing up metals as lower grade. Not sure if they're pocketing the money or unknowledgeable... Today I took in a ~150' of Heliax cable which has thick copper shielding. The worker told me its only 3 cents a pound. A couple weeks ago your workers gave me $2.49 a pound, they wrote it up as 60% romex. I also took in cooper power cords and they only paid 5 cents a pound. It seems as if the workers dont know how to identify materials or are dishonest. I have the receipts to show my visits.

Friendly staff. They unloaded everything and even sorted out aluminum to get me more money.

Rejected to take my stuff because of a event that happened before due to another person so had to drive further to get service

Terrible service from their manager. I showed up before their posted closing time and the supposed manager sad they stop taking tin at 4:15 because they saw my old garage doors (which are aluminum) and thought they were made of tin. Never going back besides Acme pays more. Integrity is non existing here. I recommend going elsewhere.

Great place to take your recycling. Great people and positive energy and great work ethic. I go here a lot.

Took 2648 lbs of solid metal (weighed on a scale that was calibrated and certified) from an old 38 international Harvester crawler, semi leaf springs, and car frames because when I called them less than a half hour earlier they told me it was 80 cents a pound. When I got there they don't let you see the weigh on scales and after wanted to give me price for tin with is .04 cents and said I had 2100 lbs. Anyone that thinks they made bulldozers out of tin in 1938 would also think car frames and semi leaf springs are tin as well. I understand being stupid the scale weights cant be chalked up to stupidity, that is more scandalous, and debating on having B,B.B determine if they are to stupid and scandalous to legally operate anything besides a can opener

Extremely unprofessional. Closing time listed as 430. I arrived 410. They had already closed the gate to the scale and refused to open it despite my having a single item with about a 2 minute unload time. They claimed if they let me in they have to let everyone in. There was noone else waiting. As I attempted to advise them that they need to change their listed closing time on Google one of the employees began yelling loudly at me telling me to leave so yeah I got pissed and told him he is lazy and afraid of work and flipped him off as I left. Don't do business with this place, Acme metals is a bit farther but will treat and pay you well.

I agree with the person that was complaining about the cashier she was very rude and I thought that I knew her but I guess not she refused to take my ticket and cash me out to where she called the boss on the radio and told him to come and cash me out and when he came to get my ticket he asked not to come back so in other words he kicked me out and told me not to return for him he shouldn't be so mean because I will not reference any body to go give him any more business

Prices are way lower than other recycling places, but the worst of it all is the cashier with the horrendous attitude i cant believe she even still has a job. Take your scrap else where people low prices is one thing but being talk to and treated that way by the cashier steered me clear of that place, ill make sure to let everyone know not to go here because of her.

Guys in back will try to cheat you. Very true called ahead was quoted 58 cents a pound for a couple of 2x2x12 6061 aluminum solid square tubes used for frames. This is one of the most expensive aluminum types there are. When I arrived the kid paged his yard manager, he walked up and said oh that's stainless steel. He said 27 cents a pound. I said sir look at the printing on the bar it's states 6061 aluminum ext. Oh well 38 cents a pound I told him the lady in front stated 58 cents a pound well the only thing on my sheet that's 58 cents os extruded aluminum. I said that's what it is. He stayed on 38 cents I told your gotta be kidding me. So either he's a nit wit or was trying to scam a customer outta of cash cause he knew exactly what the go for and they go for about 350.00 on the market...Felt scammed cause if he's the yard Manger not knowing his material makes him a nit wit. Don't go here take a little extra to Abq and get fair market prices. I ended up getting 89 cents a pound in abq. This place is a joke.

Great service all around. The guys in the back helped me to unload my recyclables and were very quick. The young lady up front was very helpful and respectful. She even thanked me for my service and had a short conversation about my time in the Army. For any future recycling you now have my business.

First Time going in to check it out, had some batteries to recycle like it said on the website on their services. Was told that they don’t take batteries, had to now drive all the way back home. Not cool y’all have to keep you websites updated with proper items to be recycled

Overall it was a great experience recycling all my scrap here. It was my first time here and I had a hodge podge of scrap metal; aluminum cans, steel, copper, cast aluminum, old copper wire, etc. The guys out back were super helpful, they unloaded my truck and sorted all my scrap. They also gave great instructions on the whole process. When I got inside, Candace was truly a gem, what an asset she is to this company. The only negative is that their prices could be a little better, but I didn't have to go all the way down to South Albuquerque.

Girl at front has some issues, she is very rude! It looks like you have had many comments on this girl and it still hasn't changed. But it is ok because I am taking my metal elsewhere and all because of that young lady in the front.

** VERY BAD EXPERIENCE ** So a few weeks ago I took my old A/C unit here to recycle. The call box button doesn't work, so you just sort of sit there until somebody says something to you. It was hard to hear what the lady inside was saying while I was sitting on the weight ramp/scale. The young men in the back were really polite and did a good job helping me unload the old A/C. But the female attendant inside was OBNOXIOUS. As I approached to park after unloading my old A/C she comes out into the parking area practically yelling at me to park between the lines. I couldn't because my old truck has a battery issue; I left it on and in neutral (a stick shift) and because the driveway slopes downward, (and my parking break doesn't work) it would have rolled down the parking lot. This is why I originally parked it on an angle -- so it wouldn't roll. After yelling at me, this young woman went inside and SLAMMED THE DOOR on me. I hadn't said a word up to that point. She was even more unpleasant, rude and obnoxious once I got inside. While not expecting a huge $$ amount, $11 seemed really, really low. My gut tells me there is something wrong with how they are pricing things. The price seemed suspiciously low. Either way, this was the last time I bring things here. There is NO excuse to treat customers the way I was. Again, the guys in the back were very good, the young lady inside was a miserable little jerk. It doesn't matter who you are, man or woman, just treat people politely and kindly and things will almost always go smoothly.

Very nice people working there. I had a used steering gear box, 30 years old, recycled it...got $1.22. That's right..1.22. Photo is the new one..my truck steers like a Cadillac.

This place is an absolute joke. We tried to get my daughter's car weighed and a van weighed for a military move. The car weighed more than the large van. We asked for help, they basically ignored us. We asked for them to reweigh and they wanted us to pay again. DO NOT waste your time.

VERY POOR & RUDE customer service on 09-10-20 @ approximately 9 am. The guy's working the yard were extremely helpful & courteous. The lady working inside the building at the ticket window was EXTREMELY hateful to a customer with obvious developmental disabilities. I will NEVER go there again. I will also tell my friend's and family to go elsewhere. Gal should have stayed home if she was going to treat people with such hatred. Disgusting!!!!!

Update 4/20/18: Still been going here and ALWAYS get treated fairly. Very helpful crew!!!! Ha ha ha...Allisha Vernon, you may want to insure your mugshots are off the internet prior to bashing local businesses. Original post: I have never had any problems and have been going there sporadically on/off for two years. When I was a newbie, I'm certain that I turned in some stuff that was worth more than what I got, but I would never expect them to sort everything out for me...I began to educate myself and learned the different types of metal. I asked them A LOT of questions and they were always very helpful. I've read some other reviews...I think people do not understand that prices fluctuate based on market value / economic conditions. The highest I've ever seen tin/steel is .09 cents per pound...the lowest about .02 cents. The person complaining about getting $27 for a 300 lbs cast iron tub ...well that works out to .09 cents per pound....CONGRATS you turned it in at the perfect time. Take it to the dump and get squat! Additionally, the dump won't even think about helping you unload. It's smart if you call and ask for the current prices, the front desk lady is very nice. Sometimes I hang on to some more precious metals when the market is down, but I realize not everyone can do that.

They like to make every excuse in the book why they can't give you the price of the metal you brought in and give u scrap tin price instead. And the lady up front has an enormous attitude problen and is extremely and blatantly rude to everyone. At least she isn't discriminating! LOL Just be prepared for some bs is all I'm saying

Been going there for over 4 years, probably average three times a month (at most). I have ALWAYS been treated more than fair. There have been a bunch of times when they have told me that I have more valuable items than what I thought they were. One time they even helped me fix my truck that broke down. FIRST-CLASS ALL THE WAY!!!
Mar 14, 2018 -
Definitely a lesson learned, 4.5 cents a pound for any kind of metal, doesn't matter that it was iron... next time I'll call around & make sure I'm getting the best deal. Certainly doesn't seem like "highest prices paid" to me!

Excellent experience. Received a fair price for my copper. Saul was great at helping to unload the stuff from the car and helping me unroll the stuff from the reel. The cashier was extremely friendly. Transaction was quick and easy

I have to agree with the previous review. A 300lb cast iron tub and received $27, that seems on the low side to me. Also the employee that "helped" get the tub out of the truck was just in a hurry to get it out and didn't care that it tore the top of my tailgate up. More damage to the truck than I got for the tub. Next time it just goes to the dump.
