My relationship to WM is like a marriage. If there is good communication and ease of accessibility between us, things are great. As my bucket is picked up on trash day, she is taken into the confident arms the WM truck. Albeit with a little firm grip and placing her down with the parental authority necessary, his grip is relaxed and a nod of the head until next trash day.

Being 88 I'm having a problem bring my barrel into my garage after emptying due to my driveway being an uphill grade. I can bring it to the curb as it's downhill. I received an answer to my question but my computer was down and I couldn't reply. I would lile to aply again. Thank you RDG

After writing this review, I feel like it sounds like a rant. That is not my intention, but I want be clear and detailed enough to explain the situation and to portray how aggravating it is to work with WM.
I attempted to dispose of some yard waste (green waste) as advertised on the TV news. They said this special program was only available until December 13th. I bagged the waste and placed it at the curb on trash day as instructed, but it was not picked up.
It took several calls and a couple of hours to find out who to talk to. I finally got to talk to a person with a foreign accent and explained my missed pickup. He simply told me he could verify that it was picked up on the date I reported it was not.
After more digging, I found another number (local) that allowed me to talk with someone else who told me I had to schedule my pickup. She took down how many bags of green waste I had and gave me instructions on where and when to put it out, which I followed. Result: still no pickup
Next, I called back the same number to report the missed pickup and was told that the special green waste program is not available except in April through October.
This is pretty typical of my experiences with Waste Mgmt issues related to missed pickups and container issues of all kinds.

2. The website is difficult to navigate and not helpful

I am very disappointed - they are paid by auto draft and continuie to charge me in the prior month - 26 Jan for a bill due on Feb 5. On a fixed income and they shouldn't do this. If it's due on the fifth then use the bank draft in the month it's due not 10 days prior. I cxld my auto draft ane will pay by bill pay from now on.

The service was great over the years. I had been with Waste Management for many years - even back in Ohio. However, when I needed a special pick up, which I was prepared to pay extra to have a headboard from a bed picked up from the Rio Rancho facility I was advised they did not do that and that I would need to haul the item to their site. That defeats the whole purpose and completely inconvenient. In addition, I was not renting a truck to transport this when it is advertised that this is a service they provide. Because of this situation I had to discontinue my service after 17 years with Waste Management to another local company who could pick up the headboard and dispose of it. That being said - because Waste Management could not provide a service that they advertise, they are charging me a $75 container pick up fee because I cancelled my service. My reason for the 1-star review is because you advertise a service you cannot provide which forced me to change services and now you want to charge me to pick up my container.

Well WM takes good care of me. A new employee forgot my house in the pickup of trash, I called the big office, they said sorry, and someone in a smaller truck will be coming back... I'm glad I picked WM... There's 4 other companies in my town, but WM is the only company I like. My own preference... And a great price, about $7 a Week.. That's a great price

Came out one morning to put the waste bin back in the side yard and found just the wheels in the street. Contacted WM via their web tool to get a replacement bin sent out. Had a new bin delivered three days later (the Friday before Christmas). They were quick and I am happy.

I have been a customer for the last nine years. I have been pleased with the service I receive. I am very happy with the drivers who service my address. The only thing I would like to see is recycling be restored to weekly. I would like to also see there be a better way to request a special pickup for large items, like refrigerator or washer or dryer.

No complaints whatsoever. Consistent and always let us know if there’s going to be a change in the schedule. When one of my containers broke, I had a brand new one in a day or so.

Garbage pick up is usually very good, although some drivers are not as careful as others and leave carts overturned on the street after being emptied. They never get out of their truck to set the cart upright, which I wish they would do. Overall, I'm a satisfied customer.

Start picking up our recycled trash every week like it used to be. Or, perhaps reduce the monthly fee since that never occurred after we lost weekly recycle pick up. 1 Star until that changes. Do better.

The service has been great! They come and treat the cans gently and not throwing them all over the place. They are great drivers maneuvering between trucks from workers. The drivers are nice and appreciate great work and customer service. Thank you!

I went to the dump site and the person in charge was very thoughtful, courteous and well informed. She answered all my questions and went the extra mile to point me in the right direction. Even though it was a dump, after all, it was a great experience. Keep up the great work.

I have absolutely no complaint about the service. It’s been thorough and consistent. However, I am a single man in my 70s and there are often times when there isn’t enough trash to be picked up. So I have an issue with a flat fee because I know that if I had more I would be charged more for the extra tub, etc.

Mostly okay for a semi monopolistic company in this region. I wish the recycle truck would follow almost behind the main waste truck, or five minutes later. It sometimes is several hours before the recycle bins are picked up, after the main waste bins have long been picked up. The web site is a little bit non-intuitive and could probably use a full audit.

Service is consistent and good. The lower rating is due to the website showing three sizes of waste bins, but when you request a smaller bin they state they only offer the largest bin in our subdivision. As a retired couple we don't need the largest size. We probably wouldn't even fill the smallest. But as the only game in town we have to pay for extra capacity that we don't need.

One of the trash containers needed to be replaced this past summer. It took a few weeks but it was finally replaced. Other than that issue I have appreciated the trash and recycling services you have been providing for so many years.

I've never had a problem with this company. They always pick up the trash when they say they will. Once I needed a new container and they came into my driveway to change it out because I forgot to put it in the street! Thank you

I like the communication if a delay in trash pick up will occur. My trash gets picked up with no problem.

Good job of picking up the trash but wish they would be more consistent in the time of their pickups. Especially with recycling pickups every other week, the time of pickup can vary significantly. It may be late morning or very late afternoon-around 5~6 pm.
The Mariposa area gets lots of wind and if we knew the pickup times, we would not have to leave it out all day and subjected to wind that often scatters overflow trash over the neighborhood.Sep 12, 2025 -
Pick up is great and they pick up trash on day that is scheduled. When there is a holiday, I do get plenty of notice informing me of the delay. Reasonable price.

POOR customer service, don't expect anyone to call back or have ease of contacting anyone for customer service help via phone or email. The website is not user friendly and is more frustrating because if you can't do it yourself on the website you definitely can't get help with their customer service lines. Monthly price increases on the bills. Be careful when establishing service with WM, they will charge you an insane amount of money to pick up the container if you cancel service. They charge you coming and going.

I think the drivers for Waste Management both trash and recycling are fantastic. I’ve never had a bad experience.. what I do think is awful, is you cannot get somebody on the phone. I’ve held it for over an hour, and they’ve now become one of those companies that you cannot get a live person. This is incredibly disappointing, sure you could pay your bill online. sometimes you need something else.
I think Waste Management also controls our dumps and it’s absolutely ridiculous that they would close on noon on a Saturday closed all day on a Sunday. Granted nobody wants to work the weekends, but this is why we have such an overwhelming issue with Trash out on our Arroyo’s.
The dump needs to be open extended hours, and maybe it needs to be cheaper for people to be able to afford it instead of dumping everything out in the nature/arroyoAug 14, 2025 -
The site is easy to access, the application is a lifesaver, and I find the customer support good as well. I enjoy things that are relatively streamlined, hassle-free, and easy to use, while I do not have to stay on the phone for hours. The only reason I did not give five stars is because a few times a month my trash will be missed, and I will have to go on the application and request a missed pickup. Then, they fix it ASAP.
Other than the missed pickups here and again, I have no other real issues with the service, it has been great so far. If they could nail down that little thing with the missing my pickup every now and again, I would be thrilled. I don't recall having a damaged container, and the communication with holidays is good. Because the layout of my neighbor's and my house is most likely the reason for the common issues to occur. If they just notify the route, when the substitute driver is in of the house(s) placement (it effects multiple on our street). I would be pleased!May 22, 2025 -
WM has been servicing promptly after I took residence here in Rio Rancho and I appreciate your service. I found that my weekly pick up container was extremely dirty and has a severe crack on container lid. This attracts a lot of flies, mice and moisture from wet weather. I need reparation as a consumer, I would appreciate a trash container in good condition. Thank you for your service to our community.

Usually your driver leaves my bin which I leave at the edge of my driveway in the center of my driveway. My wife and I have to get out of the car move the bin then we have access to our driveway. It would only take a couple of conscientious seconds to remedy this problem.
I have changed my review from a four star to a five-star review for now! Last Thursday the driver got out of the vehicle and took my trash bin up to the side of my house then they went back to their route.
Today I change back to a four star rating because the container was left right smack in the middle of the driveway again so my handicap wife has to go move the trash can to get out of the driveway or to come back in. It was remedied for a few weeks..Feb 07, 2024
